How often do you guys communicate with your spouses abroad

We talk on SKYPE daily (sometimes twice). I can't imagine this process without being able to see and talk to my wife and kids every day. The hardest part is trying to explain to our two daughters why they can't come to the States NOW! As USC, our daughters could be here tomorrow, but at their age they need their mama. I filed the I-130 on 12 July (received by USCIS on 27 July). I copy my SKYPE logs to a word document just in case the Embassy needs proof of a bona fide relationship. We also send pictures to each other quite often. I missed my younger daughter's birthday on the 3rd of September, and our 11th wedding anniversary on the 29th of September. My birthday is coming up on the 29th of October (not to mention Thanksgiving and Christmas coming soon). Being retired U.S. Navy, I knew how hard the separation would be, but it is something we all are going through. Pray for a quick journey through this crazy process.

With a combination of YM & telephone (via magicJack) twice a day - morning & evening. There are some times when we do not get to talk/chat because of her internet connection being down, we both busy, etc, but for us - it is twice daily. She is my alarm clock - she calls me to wake me up in the morning. :D

My husband suffers microwave illness... an extreme sensitivity to cell phone and computer technology.

For the duration of our marriage we are ONLY able to talk 3 minutes a day WITHOUT email, voicemail, skype or yahoo.

Its so very hard for both of us.. that for the 7 months we have been married we have talked, actually LESS than 10 hours!!

Both of us wish for more communication with one another.. We miss each other and all the moments we might share, but in 3 minutes you can talk about your day or your worry or what you are working on... OR you can talk about your love and hope for the future... you cant do more.. so we opt to focus on the positive.

I wish you and your loving spouse are together soon..

Dawn

I call my wife everyday and sometimes twice or more a day. It costs 13 cents a minute. I dont care about the cost. I just pay it because i really miss her. I also text to her. She can not text to me. We also chat during her work, when she is not busy. We also send cards and letters using regular mail to each other. She is one of a kind and worth every cent to speak to her.

My fiance and I email throughout the day while we are at work. His cell phone provider doesn't allow text messages to mine and vice versa so he texts me with txt2day.com (free!) and I buy Skype credit and text him with that (cheap!). I also bought an iPhone so I can have the Skype app right on my phone and I can call him (for free!) through Skype on my iPhone. Because of the 6 hour time difference and our busy work schedules we can only video chat once during the work week, when he stays up late and I rush home early from work and on the weekends, depending on our schedules. It's so hard to not be able to communicate all the time that we want to but the iPhone really helps big time. Emails feel impersonal to me after the 10,000th one so it's so nice to hear his voice, makes us feel so much closer and makes my heart feel so big :)

9/21/10--I-129F mailed to Dallas

9/29/10--NOA1 (email and text message)

9/29/10--Check cashed

10/1/10--NOA1 hardcopy received (dated 9/27 and sent to VSC)

10/3/10--Touched (everyone touched)

10/4/10--Touched!

04/19/11-NOA2!! (FINALLY! After 204 days)

Major change of plans - the wait was too long for us and I ended up moving to Croatia in June 2011.

Me and the wife talk everyday. Since she is in the Philippines the internet goes down a lot, phone circuits are all busy some days, and the power goes out more than the height of summer in an Iraq tour. LOL... She hates the random power outages that happen a lot and this is Angeles city area.

The time difference works out in our favor and we usually talk twice a day. Because one of us will be at work we can only use QQ, but it works out well. She can read and write english very well but still not so confident with speaking. Sometimes we may miss one time, but it is rare that we miss a whole day. Last time I printed out the chat logs and it was about 6 inches thick

My fiancee and I talk everyday via MSN. Sometimes she visits her parents in her home province where they don't have internet at home. At these times maybe we talk through a cheap phone card sometimes not. I think long distance communication can be one of the roughest points. I know I feel we communicate a lot. But for her she could always do more. So sometimes when I get busy with work and miss a day or so, she feels a bit forgotten even though thats not the case. I just advise openness. It really helps us, and we no longer have these types of disagreements.

Hello folks,

How often do you talk on the phone with your husbands abroad.I really wanna know,I feel my husband is not communicating with me enough.

I will be glad if someone will tell me how to tell him to keep in touch regularly.

Unless we are at work, we are in constant connection (MSN chat, or MSN voice chat, or videochat) - at work ,we can text. But I feel we are luckier than most due to being in the same time zone and both can afford phones with txting plans. Our videochatting has slowed down quite a bit. used to be nightly, but now maybe once a month. I would love more often, but after 2 years, it seems a bit unnecessary unless one of us really needs to "see" the other. I can get more done around the house, if I'm just chatting. with videochatting it's harder to multitask! ha ha But we've had to have conversations about meeting my needs to more consistant communication and he stepped up and now it's fine. Just gotta talk!
