Oh, yes, my circumstance are much better indeed. Thank you. I have a job, had it for over a year. And I have an apartment.

The issue wasn't so much of your naturalizing (congrats by the way), because it wasn't a material misrepresentation to the N400... as mentioned in this thread, the issue might come about when you sponsor your husband after claiming you were single (as you questioned if that would be a problem in your first post), and the marriage certificate compared to the info on your N400/naturalization certificate could become material misrepresentation then---unless your naturalization certificate was changed to reflect your marital status when you took your oath?

On what basis are you asking Aaron to not respond to this thread? Do you not support the Constitution, specifically the freedom of speech? And if so, did you also not disclose that to your interviewer?

I have zero tolerance for a person that wants to become a citizen, lies under oath, gets all defensive when people take the time to read through her post and try to ascertain what the reason for the lie was, and tells people to shut up if they’re not telling her what she wants to hear. Way to start your life as a USC and proving your good moral character!

As for the issue at hand, your naturalization certificate will state that you’re not married. And once you file for your husband and need to enclose your marriage certificate along with your naturalization certificate, it won’t be hard to predict that an officer is likely to detect your false statement. And then you’re on the path to de-naturalization.

Of course you don’t want to hear all that, because it’s inconvenient to hear. But the truth is that you lied under oath at your interview, and even signed your name underneath it. In court that’s called perjury and might yield you jail time.

Sorry if you don’t care for my post either, but if you want advice, call USCIS and tell them that you got married and misrepresented that fact at your interview. Plain and simple. Or become a USC based on a lie and pray every single day that the officer who adjudicates your petition for your husband won’t stumble over that inconsistency.

    Good luck 👍🏻

This thread makes me a little uncomfortable.

Yes, this forum is meant for people to help each other. But the implicit consideration is that it's to help us get things right, to avoid making mistakes, and how to quickly resolve inadvertent errors, misunderstandings and other concerns so that we may all have a smooth experience with the immigration process.

The OP on the other hand willfully provided wrong information in the application, and proceeded to acknowledge that erroneous information under oath, for reasons of their own. The administrative oath is that you are providing them all data truthfully.

While the strong protections against loss of citizenship may protect the OP, I do not know whether it is within forum guidelines to permit those who have intentionally misrepresented themselves under administrative oath, to request advice here.

You can’t get proper advice without telling people what is really going on.

From the way this is worded, it sounds like you were directly asked at your interview about your marital status and you outright lied to the officer.

How much it will affect his application is still unknown, as you have not shared much information in this thread that could be relevant.
Will it come to light?  Yes, once they do their preliminary checks and see the date of the marriage certificate versus the date of your interview where you stated you were single, and the oath certificate issued with the marital status listed as "SINGLE"
  7. Thanks

Read the VJ Terms of Service.  You can not tell people not to post.

Asking why you lied and what you hoped to gain are legitimate questions.

Why did you say you were single when you were married?  I know you said you didn't have the marriage certificate yet, but you could have just told the officer that.  To a neutral observer, it looks like you had something to hide and it's not clear why.

I had my interview two weeks ago and I said I was single . I didn’t file for my husband yet because he has an obligation with work that he can not get out (contract)

I'm really curious to see what happens here. @Nthom1222 please let us know what happens.

In my unprofessional opinion, this is a grounds for Denationalization. I think they can strip away your Citizenship later for failure to disclose a material fact.

@Nthom1222I have no idea why would not mention that you were married during your Citizenship interview. It would have made ZERO difference, but you did fail to disclose a material fact.

I would assume if you sponsor him, they will find this out and try to revoke your Citizenship.

Why did you lie at your naturalization interview?  Especially, when you had ZERO reason to lie.  What did you hope to gain by lying?

Well, I pulled the trigger. I included the 3-year travel info and the 5-year residence and jobs info.

Documentation: green card front & back; marriage certificate; USC spouse passport; some bank info and joint auto and home insurance proof. A lot of our bills are in his name since he had the credit rating when we moved back here, so there wasn't much to use. I would have added the IRS transcripts for the past two years (married filing jointly) but I got locked out of the site for 24 hours when they didn't like my account numbers so they'll have to wait for those.

It's also the halfway point between where I am and Jackpot, NV, where the liquor flows like wine. Oh wait....

Come to Idaho! All the Californians are doing it now, it's like the in-thing to do these days. Just keep in mind the $7.25 minimum wage.

Voting day, at last. I am past the point of giving a toss who wins. I just want them to shut up. All of them.
However, the minute this is done and dusted they will only start in on 2020.  There doesn't ever seem to be a pause in festivities.
