  1. I’m not familiar with YouTube Immigration. I got through immigration and taxes by going to the source…the instructions for the forms. Concerning the spouse line (under your name) on form 1040: Read what it says on the form— “If joint return, spouse’s first name and middle initial initial” Your return is not joint. Don’t fill out the line.
  2. You can refer your accountant to read the 2021 instructions on page 14 under Married Filing Separately. It mentions NRA there in the first 2 paragraphs.
  3. There is a cash amount but more than £18600. Also there is something about if he gets a job in the same field he has held in the US, then no six month requirement. I don’t remember the specifics. I gave you a link where you can start digging out the details for yourself.
  4. There is no backlog for category F2a so you should keep moving along to interview. Maybe that is a generic statement because many other categories do have a wait for a visa to become available.
  5. He will have to secure UK employment making at least £18,600 for 6 months to sponsor you before you can live in the UK on a spouse visa. Extra for the child if she is not a British citizen. There are some other options you can look up, but having a joint sponsor like his parent is not an option. Link to the UK process https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/partner-spouse If you decide to come back to live in the US, you will have to start over on an IR1 visa and greencard for him. He is eligible for US citizenship right now. If he gets that, he can move back and forth with no immigration paperwork to do for living in the US.
  6. Varicella is a required shot, BUT it is waived if you have had chickenpox. They mark your immunisation form “VH” meaning Varicella History. You need no written proof of having chickenpox. They take your word that you had it. AND in the UK, varicella in not a routine childhood immunisation so the shot isn’t found easily. A varicella waiver can also be given (in the UK) for “not routinely available”. You don’t have to get the shot when it qualifies for a waiver. In the uk, you have 2 ways of getting a waiver and skipping the shot.
  7. He has a current wife needing an ITIN. He has an ex-wife who is the mother of his 2 1/2 year old child who was born abroad and has no CRBA.
  8. Read the details on multiple pages here https://eg.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/child-family-matters/birth/ there are ways listed for only one parent to attend the interview. You will need written consent from the other parent. For tax purposes, what will you gain by having a citizen child with no SSN and has not lived with you more than half the year? We don’t have dependent children so I am not that knowledgeable on dependents is why I ask what it will do for your tax return?
  9. Do you have the actual passport with you in the US, not a photocopy? If so, you mail everything to Austin, TX for processing. Included should be: the joint tax return (signed by both) a statement electing for her to be treated as a resident alien for tax purposes (signed by both) W7 application for ITIN (signed by her) Her actual passport for identification The address and other information are on this IRS web page https://www.irs.gov/individuals/how-do-i-apply-for-an-itin Option 1 on that page is your only choice if she is not in the US to go in person for Option 2 and 3. if you are abroad with your wife, you have to find an acceptance agent who can certify her passport. She must be present.
  10. Did you choose “I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K visa appointment”; if not, try that.
  11. Are you using this web site? https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv (The green part after all that pink at the top?)
  12. Based on IRS.gov, I believe them to be correct. The same concept applies to those wishing to claim the 2021 stimulus for their immigrant spouse. Had you filed for an extension before the filing deadline, that would have perhaps given you until October 15 to get his SSN. Did you file for an extension or just file late?
  13. Explain how you filed if he did not have a SSN or ITIN.
  14. @Mavan Football season is about over so you will be lucky to find a Chelsea match this summer. If you find one, take the Tube (subway, underground). because Stamford Bridge is close to central London. The line will depend on where you are staying…what part of London. Google maps can help or apps on your phone. When we are in London, we use the Tube to get to all the sights. Plan to walk a lot because many things are close together. Use a website to start learning about sights and how to get around. There are too many options to explain. Something like this could help you https://www.visitlondon.com/traveller-information/getting-around-london Here’s some apps that are useful https://www.visitlondon.com/traveller-information/getting-around-london/london-maps-and-guides/apps Tips—-Look right when you start to cross the street. Americans tend to look left.
  15. Yes, they mail a new card with your name on it. The account number is the same. When bills are paid timely, it is reported to both names, no matter who actually made the charge. We always pay off our card balances in full each month, so that gives a good rating. I recall using credit accounts as evidence for removing conditions, which you will be doing. Because the bill only has the account holder name on it, that didn’t prove anything. My wife blocked out some middle numbers on the cards with tape, then laid the matching cards side by side on the copier glass. Chase Mastercard, Macys, Target, etc….hers/his…matching cards with same account number to show we commingled finances.
  16. I too got credit ratings by being added as an authorized user of my wife’s credit cards. There’s a mega thread on building credit pinned in the Tax and Finance forum.
  17. I don’t know anything about your consulate, but the ones interviewing in London are not being asked for anything further than what was submitted to NVC with the I-864. It’s in their file and they they don’t have to bring copies or newer evidence. I suppose your consulate could ask for anything they choose, but the law says what you submitted as most recent when you signed the I-864 is valid.
  18. This is a copy/paste from a post I wrote a month ago. New tax return needed for interview? I-864 This question is often asked when interviews fall in April or May, right after a new tax filing season deadline. The guidance for interviewing officers is found in the Foreign Affairs Manual. It indicates that the “most recent tax return” is the one filed prior to signing the I-864. It does not indicate a newer return must be supplied at the interview if a new tax season has closed before they got around to interviewing you. Here is the whole document for reference: 9 FAM 601.14 AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT https://fam.state.gov/search/viewer?format=html&query=I-864&links=864&url=/FAM/09FAM/09FAM060114.html#M601_14_13 There are excerpts from the FAM in my post found here if you want to read the short version https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/783102-new-tax-return-needed-for-interview-i-864/ Basically the tax return required by law is the one submitted to NVC with the I-864(s).
  19. Did you receive your SSN prior to April 18 (tax filing deadline)? If no, you aren’t eligible for the stimulus. Your wife could filed an amended return and add you as a joint filer which would likely be a tax benefit even without the stimulus over her filing Married filing separately. Work it out and see what the difference is. You would report your UK earnings before arrival.
  20. That is not correct information about how estimated tax payments work. Social Security credits are applied when the actual tax form of the self employed worker is filed at tax time. His Schedule SE calculates his Social Security amount due and gives credit based on his SSN on the form, even on a MFJ return.
  21. The Patient Care Summary requirement has been in place several years now. Most practices are online with NHS and can just print you a copy. Some people can access their own online and print it themselves. I don’t know how that works because I have been gone too long. It has been mentioned in this UK forum before. And to those still at NVC—if you need an additional note from your GP because you’ve had major diseases, surgeries, or depression/anxiety, then get started now. Some NHS practices can be really slow to provide that.
  22. You might be thinking of the Medicare requirement to buy into Part B when you don’t qualify otherwise for free Part A. One can do that if they have lived legally in the US five years. Example: Immigrant parents brought to the US who did not work in the US and don’t have 40 quarters of SS credits or a spouse eligible for Social Security. They have to live here 5 years before they can buy into Medicare PART A and B. The premium is higher for them than the current $170/mo, but maybe not as high as private insurance at age 65+.
  23. A tip to all waiting on NVC: Know what you need for the medical exam (shot record, personal care record, police report, and possibly a short written report from your GP). You can get on that well before you leave NVC. Also know that you must have two Covid shots and there is a wait period of 3-4 weeks between shots if you haven’t even started Covid immunization yet.
  24. K1s used to do that frequently. (They are the ones that always book their own appointments). They would cancel and quickly pick the new date. Procedures changed where you can not rebook yourself until after your original appointment date passes. Your best chance is use the contact form to present your hardships that got you expedited at NVC. Ask that the embassy schedule you a sooner appointment. June 14 is probably the earliest date you should request an interview for in order to have the medical report in place and your visa processed quickly. If your medical report is not received, then you could be adding weeks onto the other side as evidenced by many in this forum who attended their interview without a medical report in place. To the embassy, a three week bump forward may not seem significant enough to bother. Make your point why it would. I will tell you that others in the past who asked to be put on a wait list for a cancellation slot we’re told the embassy does not keep wait lists. My suggestion: Just asked for an expedited date the week of June 14, make your hardship known, and hope they have a slot open.
