  1. You need the long version of the birth certificate.
  2. Hi, Glad to hear you got your interview sorted. I am unsure if they contact you if there are any problems - I’m healthy (besides being slightly overweight) so there was nothing to report from my medical. Don’t be nervous about the interview it’s pretty straightforward. Good luck.”
  3. Hi. I never actually received my letter; they either never sent it or it was lost in the mail. I emailed the embassy and they responded telling me I should have it, but that their email response was enough to proceed. I would say try that, but also just go to the Embassy website and try to schedule an interview and see what happens. Also don’t be discouraged if your medical comes after the interview, you can do that. good luck.
  4. What has nothing to do with whether a car is a rental or your spouses? Not sure what you’re talking about.
  5. I don’t believe CA recognizes any foreign DL for private vehicles. I had my spouse drop me at the DMV before it opened and applied for a License with Real ID (I think that’s what it’s called). I was actually allowed to take the written test that same day; unlike the UK, you get 3 attempts instead of 1 so I figured I would just try it and if I failed, I would go away and study as I didn’t expect to be able to take it that day. Passed, and also had to do an eye exam. Made an appointment for a behind-the-wheel test two days later. Had my wife drive me in her car; she needed to bring her own license and proof of insurance (her insurance - I was not required to be named on the policy) and I took the test which is way shorter and less involved than the UK test. It’s been a while so I’m sure you have sorted this out, but my advice to any new arrivals who may read this is to get a rental if you absolutely must drive (for work or whatever) as the UK license is valid for a rental. In the meantime get down to the DMV ASAP as the process is way faster (and waaaay cheaper) than it is in the UK.
  6. No, the small certificate given when you were born is not the document they require. I got the required document from City Hall in my home town.
  7. Again, uploading additional documents won't hurt you. At the very least, take it to the interview with you.
  8. Yeah you're right - I very lazily made the comment then looked it up - unfortunate situation; a part of me would be tempted to not pay any of it and have the Landlord come after us both, but then you just make a rod for your own back. Maybe the OP could look for a roommate? Assuming it's two bedroom of course.
  9. Is her name on the Lease for your apartment? If so, she surely has an obligation to pay rent. My Landlord uses an online portal that allows tenants to pay specific amounts when the rent is due - this is so that roommates can pay their share without needing to transfer money to the other tenant. If this is the case for you - and you are both on the lease - I would just pay half of the rent and instruct the Landlord to go after her for the balance. Also, forget the revenge plot, it's just not worth it and it won't work - you don't get to determine whether an Immigrant is here legally or not.
  10. BoA are a good option. I visited Chase twice without success. 15 minutes after walking into BoA I had an account.
  11. Yes. I filed 485, 765, and 131 in the same package. I entered on a K1 visa. The only thing I did that may be slightly outside the norm was not check the SSN box as I was already in the process of getting it from SSA.
  12. Yes. I just got my Green Card on Friday. I am in Orange County - my local office is Santa Ana. Not sure if they’re just more efficient, or have less traffic? Who knows.
  13. My EAD was recently approved in 39 days. Filed on February 2, 2022. Can't be sure how others are doing, but mine was very quick, I also got my Green Card in the mail a couple days ago - hopefully this means things are starting to move more quickly. I did not expedite. Fingers crossed.
  14. I waited 10 days after entry to book my appointment. It took over 40 days for my card to arrive though. I was on a K1 visa which complicates everything because no one in any system knows how to deal with people in my position. Anyway, 4 weeks is excessive. Most say wait 2 weeks but that wait time has been debunked a lot on this forum. Not sure why they’re telling you 4.
  15. I have been filing relevant documents per your advice. All utilities have both our names, we’re both on my car insurance policy, named as each other’s beneficiaries on everything, I’m on her health insurance policy, both on the lease, and just opened a joint checking and savings account. As for the credit card - her being incredibly patient during the K1 limbo and my lack of an income has meant that she has not made all her full payments, as we both normally would. I may wait until she is back on track with that (with my help now I’m working!) before becoming an authorized user, plus I have my own card to use for now.
