Yeah pretty similar process I’m going through. Since I’m in college and don’t make a ton of money I had my mom sponsor my now wife from Ukraine. After the U4U was approved I went and met her in Poland and brought her back with me. We got married 3 months after she got here. I haven’t sent the i485 yet because I’m waiting for the i693 medical exam still. Should be in about 4 weeks and then I can submit all the paperwork.

    Just follow the guides

Does she not want a SSN, be able to drive, and what if she has to go back home due to an emergency? All sorts of things need a SSN. And they are free.

You filed a I 134 which is meaningless and had nothing to do with this application and the need for an I 864.
  6. Thanks

I-765 -- Even if your spouse does not need to work, an EAD card is a more widely accepted proof of immigration status, than the I-485 receipt notice.  Also as mentioned above, having EAD will allow your spouse to apply for SSN prior to getting a green card.

I-131 -- If your spouse ever needs to travel outside the US without abandoning the I-485 process.  Like for family emergencies or vacations outside the US.

Note that filing the I-765 and I-131 are FREE, if filed together with the I-485.

I-864 is different from the I-134 you filed for U4U.  The I-485 will be rejected or (worse) denied without an I-864 and supporting financial documents from you.  Also no fee for submitting the I-864.

If your wife wants the GC under married name, just fill out the forms using the married name. The marriage certificate is
enough for the new name proof.

Regarding filing, if you file i130 online, include i130 receipt notice in the i485 package when mailing. OR mail i130/i485 all in one package. Don't forget to file for EAD/AP as well.

K1's use parole all the time.

    Just for example.

OP is a USC, and spouse entered with inspection.  Immediate relatives of USC are allowed to adjust, even while out of status, assuming they entered the US legally.  Legal entry includes "inspected and paroled", as in parole via U4U.

I agree, you should be fine to follow the AOS guide (I130/I485/I765/I131/I864) for adjusting from inside the US.

    Good Luck!

My fiancé took a bus out of Ukraine and into Poland and I flew over there to get her. We spent a couple weeks in Poland having fun and yesterday we made it home. Customs in Chicago was pretty simple and they took her fingerprints and that’s about it. Now we are figuring out the rest. Next week we have a appointment scheduled to get her health insurance and benefits.

Since you won't be entering the country during the layover (make sure you're using the same airport for arrival and departure) it's not even a question really.

You might want to double check the COVID restrictions for transiting passengers in the UK, but without looking myself I can't imagine someone from Ukraine will have any requirements.

Our beneficiaries got here tonight. Picked them up at O'Hare , just got them settled in for the night. Their flight landed at 8pm but they didn't get out of CBP clearance until nearly 3 hours later. Apparently there were a lot of other U4U folks on the same flight from Warsaw, and they were processing all of them in a group. Asked a bunch of questions, took photos, not quite sure what else took 3 hours. Anyway, the ordeal is over and they're now officially and legally in the US. Tomorrow we can start the million +1 things needed to integrate them successfully.

Though not necessary for travel to United States. But I sure it would be helpful once they are here.
