  1. As a civilian, I'd like to know why our enlisted troops are forced to pay for their own food (that they're not receiving), yet prisoners who commit heinous crimes get 3 square meals a day free of charge. This may be for more than food costs, but in any case, it should be accounted for separately from the general fund. That's not a hard thing to do with computerized accounting. Charles? Others? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Army Was Using Soldiers' Food Money on Other Things: Report As the Trump administration continues to expose federal corruption, a new report is accusing the Army of using soldiers' food paycheck deductions for other unspecified purposes. Junior enlisted troops who live on base in Army barracks lose part of their monthly paychecks to a deduction that is supposed to pay for food costs. But according to a new exposé by Military.com, a significant amount of the food money (over half) has — well, not been spent on food. Reportedly the money collected for food has been simply thrown back into the general Army funds pool to be used for who knows what — under the Biden-Harris administration, probably for drag shows and Pride Month displays. It seems the Trump administration and its Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have yet another financial cesspool on their hands, courtesy of previous leadership. 2. On illegal immigration, it's Trump filing the lawsuits One of the main themes of resistance to the not-yet-1-month-old administration of President Donald Trump is the reliance on lawsuits (often filed with friendly judges) as the president's adversaries try to kneecap his policy initiatives. So far, the court strategy has had a lot of at least temporary success because we have seen one injunction after another ordering the Trump administration to stop doing this or that. Now Trump is fighting back with some lawsuits of his own on the critical issue of illegal immigration. In the past week, the Justice Department has filed suits against the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois and also against the state of New York and Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY), as well as New York Attorney General Letitia James. You may remember James as a particularly zealous Trump-suer, having won a $454 million judgment against him in a property valuation case that many observers felt had little or no merit. 4. *** Thread is moved to the "What Visa" forum. *** Welcome to the forum! Your husband would file the I-130 petition. When that is approved, you would interview for the CR-1 visa. If you've been married longer than 2 years when you and baby would enter the United States, you would get an IR-1 visa. The baby might qualify for U.S. citizenship as the child of a U.S. citizen. Others will add more information.

  8. Impatient Liberal Journalist Starting To Suspect Trump Will Never Send Her To A Concentration Camp ATLANTA, GA — An impatient liberal journalist employed by CNN began to express doubts this week that President Trump will ever send her to a concentration camp. Sources said that Ginny Balton, a field reporter based in Atlanta, felt well-informed until only recently when she had to report on Trump exposing more government fraud and limiting the power of government, which was nothing at all like the actions of Adolf Hitler. "I thought for sure we'd all be rounded up by now," Balton reportedly confided in colleagues. 9. Disaster As King Solomon Only Buys 698 Valentine's Day Gifts JERUSALEM — Reports circulated that the House of Solomon had fallen into disarray following a disastrous Valentine's Day celebration in which the king only bought 698 gifts despite having 700 wives. King Solomon first became aware of his folly when assigning gift-wrapping duties to his servants. "Oh king live forever! Behold, here are gifts totaling 698, yet 700 wives you have. Where are the other two gifts?" Adoniram the son of Abda reportedly asked. [...] https://babylonbee.com/news/disaster-as-king-solomon-only-buys-698-valentines-day-gifts
  10. Trump's Latest Executive Order Punishes Schools Mandating the COVID Shot President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday relinquishing funding from schools and universities still preventing students and employees from attending classes in person if they don't take the COVID-19 shot. The executive order prevents "federal funds from being used to support or subsidize an educational service agency, state education agency, local education agency, elementary school, secondary school, or institution of higher education that requires students to have received a COVID-19 vaccination to attend in-person education programs." 11. This is fascinating to the extent that I understand it. Notable to me is that this interim news conference was so rapidly and frankly presented -- refreshing in comparison with the Bidementia approach. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NTSB Reveals New Details Regarding the Deadly D.C. Mid-Air Collision It's been a while since we've had an update on the D.C. midair collision last month, but on Friday, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) held a news conference to share preliminary findings as it concludes the on-site phase of its investigation into the midair collision between a passenger jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington, D.C., which claimed 67 lives. NTSB Chairman Jennifer Homendy provided several key updates, outlining the flight paths of both aircraft as they moved along portions of the Potomac River on the night of January 29 before ultimately crashing near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Homendy revealed that the Black Hawk was conducting a combined annual instrument and night vision goggle training flight. At one point, the pilot and instructor pilot reported the helicopter at different altitudes but failed to address the discrepancy. 12. This article clarifies the madness and lends hope. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Judicial 'Resistance' Is Setting Itself Up for an Epic Smackdown America, unfortunately, has long been suffering from a crisis of civics. Put simply, many Americans are woefully ignorant about the structure and features of their government. But every so often, an opportunity emerges to reteach some basics. The media's predictable shrieks and howls of "constitutional crisis" notwithstanding, we are in the throes of a grand separation-of-powers standoff that will both serve as one such edifying civics lesson. First: Enter the energetic executive. [...] https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2025/02/14/the_judicial_resistance_is_setting_itself_up_for_an_epic_smackdown_152366.html
  13. This is a thoughtful article. ~~~~~~~~ Trump's Tariffs Have Exposed Trudeau's Canada as a Failing State On Feb. 1, 2025, President Trump ratified an executive order that pledged to impose a tariff of 25% on all goods from Canada, as well as a 10% tariff on Canadian energy. Thankfully, after various tense negotiations and two urgent phone calls with Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President Trump agreed to delay imposing any tariffs on Canada for 30 days. Unfortunately, President Trump's tariffs are not the result of some economic disagreement or an imbalance in the market. Rather, Trump's tariffs are merely the economic symptom of a greater disease, and they have exposed the degenerate state of the Canadian nation. In fact, since the advent of the Trudeau government, Canada has started to exhibit the hallmarks of a failed state and its national collapse now threatens the national security of its longtime ally, the United States of America.
