  1. This. One glaring factor was when Obama decreed the DACA program. USCIS's attention was diverted toward that as highest priority. My sense was that processing-times slowed considerably, and a VJ member ran some detailed calculations and proved this. Unfortunately, those charts and graphs were in formats that didn't survive on VJ over time, so I can't produce meaningful links, but trust that the slowdown was stark. In the years since, I don't see that processing-times (for any USCIS process that we deal with here) have ever recovered.
  2. Wow. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Railroaded Derek Chauvin's foes will stop at nothing to punish ex-cop as he's nearly killed in prison https://1ft.io/proxy?q=https%3A%2F%2Fnypost.com%2F2023%2F11%2F26%2Fopinion%2Frailroaded-derek-chauvins-foes-are-out-for-his-blood-in-prison-and-his-case%2F
  3. Egad, but this is entertaining. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Apocalypse Trump https://1ft.io/proxy?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theamericanconservative.com%2Fapocalypse-trump%2F
  4. Really makes one wonder whether some of these schools should have watchtowers, and guards armed with machine guns in every hallway.
  5. USCIS, through fees, is a self-funding agency. Speculation is fruitless. Just have to wait for the backlogs and wheels of bureaucracy to move.
  6. Duplicative thread closed in favor of existing thread (title updated).
  7. Interstates the whole way? Aw, shucks. Next time, consider heading across the Oklahoma Panhandle before cutting south. Boise City (pronounced Boys), Okla. is the westernmost town still in the Central time zone. And, do not go even a fraction of a mile per hour over the speed limits in Guymon, Okla. (voice of experience here). On my trip around there in 2003, I was somewhat surprised that the northwestern portion of the Texas Panhandle was hilly. In non-winter, the entire TX Panhandle is exceptionally scenic.
  8. London has typically been concerned with financial wherewithal over all else. Bring some evidence of your recent visits -- photos together, airline tickets, and similar. If asked, you can tell about your celebratory plans for the summer (add, "presuming that the visa is granted").
  9. Read the original poster's timeline. If you have a question for yourself, feel free to start your own thread, or read others for answers. Old thread is now closed to further comment.
  10. (American) English-only outside the regional forums, mam ma'am!
  11. Thread is closed -- OP has joined the November 2023 filers' thread.
  12. Sounds like it was relaxing, scenic, and fulfilling.
  13. Welcome to the forum, and good luck!
  14. On Small-Business Saturday, I went to an estate sale and found a desk-lamp for $17.50, which was 50% off. It has a very heavy round base with a push-button on-off and a 3-hole electrical outlet, an angled rod, and a compact shade that doesn't need removal when the full-sized light bulb needs replacing. I would not have bought it at full price, and I imagine that I'll consider the half-price capital investment well worth it. This was the only item yielded by the 4 garage sales and 2 estate sales.
  15. Drown it in gravy, and all is corrected (and forgiven).
  16. Thread is moved from the K-1 Case Progress subforum to the K-1 Process forum.
  17. Country-specific thread is moved to the Vietnam regional forum.
  18. What's your reaction to this? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Blame Ireland's migrant surge, not 'right-wingers,' for Dublin riots DUBLIN — In the 12 months leading up to April this year, 141,600 immigrants landed in Ireland. The Irish population has increased by more than 2%. If the US had similar immigration, it would mean 9 million extra people. This is the highest level since the prosperous "Celtic Tiger" era of the late '90s. Ireland's non-nationals comprise a whopping 20% of the population. The tinder box of immigration blew open Thursday with a mass riot in Dublin following the stabbing of a number of young children outside a school near the main street. 19. Election of Milei, Wilders and Cogswell Has the Left Worried Is there a disturbance in the force? I think there might be. In just the last week, the chainsaw-wielding "anarcho-capitalist" Javier Milei won the presidential election in Argentina, the Freedom Party of Islamo-realist Geert Wilders trounced its opponents in the snap general election in the Netherlands, and, here at home, a Republican was elected mayor of Charleston for the first time since 1877. The Zeitgeist would seem to be awake and on the move. What is it waking from? I agree with those who say it is waking from wokeness. 20. If the answer is "in a different bed," that would raise questions beyond whether both partners's answers were consistent.
  21. Sorry, D ma'am. Keep taking HSM, si D ma'am. Length of nap precised, si and see and you're forgiven just this once D ma'am.
  22. Or, they simply don't look past, because they've never perceived the need. And they don't know what they don't know, which is frustrating. Other opinions?
