The Sickness of Our Universities—and the Cure
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Money talks, or the threat of losing it does. Regardless, how many people were sanctioned in total? What was the breakdown of sanction type? How many were expelled out of that total? And what's the point of "temporarily suspending" someone's degree? For how long, and for how many people? The university needs to come clean. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Columbia Finally Announces Disciplinary Action Against Pro-Hamas Agitators Columbia University and its sister school of Barnard College have been in the news quite a bit lately. The Trump administration is looking to deport Mahmoud Khalil, a Syrian-born pro-Hamas agitator, who was involved in various activities at Columbia and Barnard. Khalil led encampments at Columbia and participated in takeovers at Barnard, with his involvement at the latter school coming after he had already graduated. The Trump administration also announced last Friday that they were canceling $400 million in grants for Columbia. Now, the university is announcing some pretty strong disciplinarian actions against the agitators. A campus wide alert was sent out on Thursday, according to ABC News, detailing how students could face suspensions, expulsions, and even revoked degrees: [...] https://townhall.com/tipsheet/rebeccadowns/2025/03/13/columbia-finally-announces-disciplinary-action-n2653800 -

Got another one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Homeland Security Arrests Another Pro-Hamas Protester, Who's Next? Federal agents have arrested another immigrant who participated in anti-Israel protests at Columbia University. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday announced that Leqaa Kordia, a Palestinian from the West Bank, was arrested for overstaying her F-1 student visa. The student's visa expired on January 26, 2022, "for lack of attendance," according to a DHS press release. DHS also noted that Indian national Ranjani Srinivasan chose to self-deport after being "involved in activities supporting [Hamas], a terrorist organization." The State Department revoked her visa. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem explained: [...] https://townhall.com/tipsheet/jeff-charles/2025/03/14/homeland-security-arrests-another-anti-israel-columbia-university-protester-n2653839 -

Daily Update on Biden Tanking America (Part 2)
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
A commenter on one of the autopen articles says this: "The design of the autopen is such that there is a counter like a car odometer that counts up each time the autopen is used. It is much more tamper-resistant / evident than a car odometer. Pretty much the same precautions used for Top Secret keymat. There is supposed to be a log kept of each use of the autopen. The log should be compared to the counter to make sure all uses were properly logged. If the audit turns up discrepancies then a manual review of all documents signed by Biden should be initiated. The autopen signatures will all be identical. Ones he actually signed will show differences from signature to signature especially with his advanced age. Definitely a painstaking process but due to the gravity of his signature, all documents he signed should be examined." I agree with the above; you? -
Daily Update on Biden Tanking America (Part 2)
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
This is really, really big, but how to pursue it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Explosive Update to Biden Autopen Scandal Reveals Unelected Staffer's Role As PJ Media previously reported, a bombshell investigation by the Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project revealed that nearly every document during Biden's presidency was signed by autopen, with only one authentic signature confirmed — his letter announcing withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. The presidential autopen has been in use since the 1950s, which has sparked ongoing debate over its legality. In 2013, Barack Obama became the first president to use it to sign a bill into law while vacationing in Hawaii. His office justified the move with a 30-page memo from George W. Bush's legal team, which argued that a president's physical presence wasn't necessary as long as the signature was authorized. But Joe Biden's cognitive decline raised legitimate questions as to whether he was aware of official documents being signed on his behalf, or if they were even authorized. Speaker Mike Johnson previously revealed that Biden couldn't even recall signing an LNG exports executive order, raising serious questions about whether someone was signing documents with the autopen without Biden's authorization. According to an explosive report from the New York Post, a senior Biden aide may have been wielding presidential power through liberal use of the autopen and essentially acting as a shadow president. One White House source painted a chilling picture: [...] https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/03/14/explosive-update-to-biden-autopen-scandal-reveals-unelected-staffers-role-n4937922 -

This is fascinating (see the linked source article) and valuable. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An Interesting, Fact-Based Perspective on 'Gun Deaths' We Almost Never See The term "gun death" is fairly problematic in a lot of ways. First, guns aren't dying, so there's that. Moreover, it treats all deaths resulting from a gunshot as somehow equal. We don't see numbers for everyone who dies as the result of an edged implement like a knife or razorblade, for example. We don't see "gravity deaths" that include people who jump off of a bridge and those tossed out of a 14th story window. It's just the guns. But, keeping that in mind, there's a lot more about the "gun death" discussion that is pretty problematic, including the way things are typically framed. Mostly, it's a case of trying to lie with statistics. Numbers need context and most stories about these deaths omit a lot of them. So it was nice to see something different, which was not what I was expecting when I clicked on a site called "Lawyer Monthly." Based on how the American Bar Association has been regarding guns of late, I expected the usual nonsense. This was different. After reading this article, do you think that the reported finding is a good thing or a bad thing? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Immigration Accounted for All U.S. Population Growth in 2023 for the First Time Since 1850 Immigration accounted for the entirety of the U.S. population growth between 2022 and 2023, according to the Migration Policy Institute (MPI). Birth rates among American citizens dropped 2% from 2022 to 2023, but the number of immigrants climbed by 1.6 million, reaching a record high of 47.8 million. That's a population increase of 3.6%, the most since 2010. "The fertility rate fell to 54.5 births per 1,000 females of ages 15-44 in 2023, down from 56 in 2022," reports NBC News. The percentage of foreign-born Americans stands at 14.3% which is slightly less than the record of 14.8% in 1890. Nearly 75% of U.S. immigrants are here legally, and almost half are naturalized citizens.
