  1. This ought to be the exciting part. In addition, she might find that she's way ahead of her classmates (U.S. schools tend to be behind other countries' schools in curriculum and rigor), and this will help her get off to a fast start. Your diligent thoroughness in reporting these updates is helpful to many and interesting to all. Keep it up!
  2. This thread contains some ideas. Following the suggestions might make you feel a little better. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/562879-cbp-at-tsa-airport-checkpoints-why-theyre-there-how-best-to-handle/#entry7784682
  3. You have to make a quality decision as to which of these is more important to you, and live with it.
  4. Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear of your anguish. The AP can last a long time in Middle Eastern/North African countries because of security concerns. In your case, some of the security checks might have expired while others were in process (they take differing times to be completed), and the expired ones have to be performed again. There's nothing to do but to wait. Find other ways to distract yourself and spend your time. It's hard, but you can do it. Vigorous physical exercise is helpful.
  5. Every little inroad is a gain. Read the week-over-week statistics! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DC crime and the Trump-is-bad-but-he's-right effect There's something interesting going on in the continuing controversy over President Donald Trump's anti-crime initiative in Washington, D.C. When Trump first announced the move, saying crime in the district is "out of control," many Democrats and their media allies denounced it with the argument that crime is in fact falling in the district, perhaps even to its lowest point in 30 years. Now, after a week of heightened law enforcement and rising arrests, more and more voices are conceding that Trump is right, that crime really is a serious and ongoing problem in the district. Some of those voices are still opposed to Trump, but at least they are now admitting there is a big problem. 6. Nice description of Gov. Hair Gel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gavin Newsom: the chameleon who destroyed California Gavin Newsom may be saddled with an awful record. But the California governor is rapidly emerging as a leading bet – even a frontrunner in some polls – in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028. How is this possible? The simple answer is that Newsom might be the ultimate candidate for the attention-deficient generation. He is a political chameleon who changes positions compulsively – not according to facts, but to whatever best seems to fit the national mood. We witnessed this after [...] https://www.spiked-online.com/2025/08/18/gavin-newsom-the-chameleon-who-destroyed-california/
  7. Zohran Mamdani is a political risk Democrats shouldn't take In a twist of comic irony, New York City — the embodiment of American capitalism — may soon have a democratic socialist mayor in 33 year old Zohran Mamdani. That being said, assuming Mamdani wins November's general election, the joke may be on national Democrats. Put another way, even as a mayoral candidate, by dint of New York City's status and his elevation into a national figure, Mamdani presents severe risks to the Democratic Party on the national stage. 14. Portland’s Screeching 'Dog Park Karen' Has Been 'Off the Leash' Before — and No, She's Not Amy Schumer As you may have suspected after reading about Dog Park Karen—who wildly menaced a man over his "pure-bred" dogs in a Portland dog park—we learn that this isn't the first time this Amy Schumer look-alike has been let off her leash. If you haven't read about this wild incident that has gone supernova on social media, by all means read 'Karen's' Attack of Portland Dog Owner Perfectly Frames Left's Insufferable Bigotry, and you'll likely come to the same conclusion. Indeed, this incident wasn't a one-off, we find, based on reactions to this story. 15. Kurt Schlichter is on fire! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What Is the Democrats' Endgame? Americans are more divided than we have been since the first time the Democrats started and lost a civil war, with every norm being tossed out and every legitimate exercise of lawfully attained power by us normals being shamelessly obstructed. The left rejects the idea that patriotic Americans have any moral right to participate in their own governance, to pursue their own interests, or to assert their own rights. To them, we are nothing but thralls, tax-generating slaves who must feed them, fuel them, fight for them, and obey their commands while meekly accepting their calumny. They are delusional. Things aren’t going to work out that way. But things are going to work out some way, and you have to wonder what their endgame is. 19. This is accurate. The K-1 is a "hybrid" visa -- a nonimmigrant visa with immigrant intent. This is why the K-1 is handled by the Immigrant Visa Units of the consulates.
  20. Glad to hear that it was resolved. Thanks for returning to report the outcome.
  21. Interesting reactions. How about this? Rezone and apply eminent domain (the sole good use for it) so that the only remaining housing is transitory -- temporary residences for active members of Congress, and hotels. The District would be occupied solely by Federal office buildings and businesses to support the working population (restaurants, gas stations, etc.). Perhaps also return some land on the Maryland side, and reacquire a small portion on the Virginia side of the Potomac. No residents would then need representation, so problem solved. Only elected officials would reside in the District because they have, or are supposed to have, their residences in their home state. Then they would have room to demolish some of our current empty eyesores that we pay billions to maintain. In addition, officials like Brennan AND Obama would lose their residences in DC, and their meddling in government could be minimized. Only ambassadors and Federal officials should live in DC.
