Forgive a temporary hijacking of this thread, but I have firm opinions about bed linens: 1. All pillowcases should be long enough and wide enough to fit the thickest pillows readily. 2. All twin sheet sets should include TWO pillowcases, not just one. 3. Without exception, all sheets should have deep pockets. 4. All full, queen, & king sets should have the name of the size* tagged or printed in TWO places on both sheets**. *not merely the measurement in inches or centimeters **thus making it easier to pick the correct size at estate sales 5. All full-&-larger sheets should have something in the print or the fabric to indicate which way they fit on the bed. 6. There's probably something else for which I'll edit this to add. 7. Next, I'll tell you how I really feel about bed linens. 8. Now back to our regularly scheduled post topic.

This is one thing that we share, except that I look for sheets at estate sales and selectively upgrade my holdings. When Mini-Bone outgrew his twin bed and I sold it, the linen closet held 9 sets of twin sheets to include in the sale (!). That was instructive in terms of not hoarding linens, whether bed or bath. Regardless, I still have too many full and queen sheet sets, but all are too good to donate or get rid of. I typically rotate them onto the bed when the ones in use get washed.

Thrilling Monday-on-Tuesday report, see man: We did not leave the casa until Many p.m., see below man. We were corresponding all day with the FNSJJC (Foxy Not-So-Junior Junior Chica), si man. We are hoping to see her on Tuesday, hopeful we man. If not, we can perhaps road-trip to see the RJCWBC (Remote Junior Chica With Bad Car), perhaps man. PJC (Proximal JC) had heavy workload and had to back out of afternoon meeting, snakebitten man. Lunch was 2 turkey-&-cheese sandwiches, ingest we man. A subsequent siesta was attempted but not consummated, man. We left the casa after Many p.m. to grocery at Walmart for Mama T-B., pack-mule we man. Amazingly, all desired items were available and store traffic was light, first time in some time man. Mama T-B. didn't yell at us about much except to "find a wife, si man," man. Din-din was Subway*, ingest we man. *WUOC + gift card, financially savvy we man A siesta thereafter was largely successful, zzz we man. We had donated a bag of seemingly jalapeño'd cheaps to ex-Mrs.-T-B., mistakenly purchased by we man man. Ex-Mrs.-T-B. took them to her birthday retreat, Mexicanas also there man. Ex-she man reported that the cheaps were delicious, more sour than hot man. We responded, "We bought you cheap**, si man," si man. **see very old story, see man So that was our "cheap" contribution to ex-Mrs.-T-B.'s birthday extravaganza, OK with us man. We curbsided the garbage and ministered to needy miu, curbside and minister we man. Party with the rubias tonight, cavort we man. Tuesday plans as stated, q.v. above man. And that was/is our thrilling Monday, report we man.

Thread is moved from the K-1 Case Progress subforum to the "AOS from K Visas" main forum. Again, all of the above. The instant you married, you should have drafted estate documents. If it's too difficult to draft Wills in a short time, look on your state's website for valid templates* for Powers of Attorney (durable and medical). Reciprocal HIPAA releases are also good to have -- not just for AOS, but in "life." *This is not legal advice, but in chatting with estate/probate attorneys, they say that they make the most money straightening out messes from people who downloaded generic estate templates from random or general websites and tried to do their estate documents themselves. If valid templates aren't available on your state's website, it's VERY well worth retaining an attorney to draft all these documents and to do it right. Remember that if you have children or move to another state, it's prudent to review and re-draft your relevant estate documents.

What do we think of this? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oops! Arkansas Truckers Face $5,000 Fines If They Can't Pass an English Literacy Test Numerous countries, such as Mexico, mandate that individuals seeking citizenship demonstrate fluency in the national language, encompassing both reading and writing skills. The United States should adopt a comparable standard of linguistic proficiency for citizenship, yet regrettably, it does not. However, Arkansas has identified a clever workaround. The Commercial Driver's License (CDL), a mandatory credential for truck drivers, requires fluency in English. The state is now actively enforcing this regulation. Our answers coincided. Terminology thing: You're filing the I-129F petition. The K-1 Visa application occurs later, after petition approval. Your Congresswoman's office may not be able to challenge a ban, but they'll have avenues for learning information that can prove helpful to you. Get in their system.
-
I ignored your chief question. Yes, file ASAP -- meaningfully, without rushing. "Front-load" the I-129F petition with proof of bona fide relationship -- boarding passes, shared receipts, selected photos (a few from each visit), and selected meaningful correspondence covering the length of your relationship. Avoid including anything in which you refer to yourselves playfully as "husband/wife," because this would hose your petition at USCIS or the consular level. Avoid any engagement-party photos that might be construed to be a wedding ceremony.

Welcome to the forum! Yes, lean on your lawyer. In addition, contact your U.S. Congressman and speak with his/her immigration liaison. On the Congressman's website, you should be able to find a release form that gives the office permission to inquire/intervene on your behalf; have this completed and ready to send immediately. It's unclear whether the Congressman's office will know much of value this early in the game, but you should at least get your issue into their system. Keep us closely apprised in regard to developments and information that you learn.

The Sickness of Our Universities—and the Cure
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Better late than never... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Colleges Are in Trouble and Suddenly Realizing They Have Few Allies Columbia University is just the start of a long-brewing backlash. On Monday of this week the Trump administration's Department of Education put 60 schools on notice that they will lose federal funding if they don't do more to crack down on antisemitism on campus. [...] On Friday the DOE sent another letter to more than 50 schools warning them that discriminatory DEI programs would no longer be tolerated. [...] Colleges are clearly getting the message which is why many of them put hiring freezes in place this week, in anticipation of being short on cash very soon. Daily Update on Biden Tanking America (Part 2)
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Epic and hilarious! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Trump Mocks Biden's Autopen Usage with Epic Photo [...] President Trump, who actually shows up to work and signs his own documents, addressed the scandal during a speech at the Department of Justice on Friday, and he didn't mince words. "Crooked Joe Biden got us into a real mess with Russia and everything else he did, frankly. But he didn't know about it and he, generally speaking, signed it with autopen. So how would he know?" Trump's right—how would Biden know what he's signing when he's not even doing the signing? Trump followed up with an absolutely savage (and frankly, hilarious) post on Truth Social on Sunday. Great story and great news. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 'Oopsie...Too Late': Gang Members Arrive in El Salvador Despite Activist Judge's Orders On Saturday, we learned that Donald Trump had invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport violent members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA). Shortly after that, an Obama-appointed activist judge said not so fast and ordered for planes carrying these criminals to turn around. As Matt Margolis wrote earlier, "Chief U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, apparently more concerned with the rights of foreign criminals than American safety, issued a temporary restraining order against Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act. This centuries-old law has been successfully used by multiple presidents to protect our nation from genuine threats." But do you know who is not more concerned with the rights of criminals than the safety of the people of the United States and our allies in Central and South America? El Salvador's president Nayib Bukele. [...] https://pjmedia.com/sarah-anderson/2025/03/16/oopsietoo-late-gang-members-arrive-in-el-salvador-despite-activist-judges-orders-n4937977

Severe Visa restrictions starting next week
TBoneTX replied to K176532's topic in US Immigration News and Discussion
What happened previously might not apply to what's happening now. You'll just have to wait for clarity. You can e-mail the consulate, contact your U.S. Senator's office, or both. Uncertainty is tough, certainly, but it may take some time before things crystallize. -
Thrilling Sunday report, see man: Spectacular weather, Texas weather Many man. Of course, we did not leave the casa all day, perfect Sunday man. Conquered the Many (2+1) LLs, domestic we man. Breakfast/lunch/din-din was Tuna Glop, ingest we man. Miu was soundly zzz-ing on Mini-B.'s bed, zzz miu man. We thought it opportune to snack on a tin of sardines, snack we man. Of course, miu comes all the way downstairs the instant the lid is off, man. We had to hold the tin high and keep pivoting to avoid intense miu interest, man. We're surprised that we didn't get sardine oil all over the place, somehow-proficient we man. We managed to consume the entire tin while dodging interested miu, ingest we man. Meeting PJC (Proximal Junior Chica) Monday afternoon, meet we PJC man. Lunching with RJC (Rubia Junior Chica) Thursday, lunch we man. Two other chicas are initially interested in us, too, see what happens man. Party with the rubias tonight, cavort we man. And that was/is our thrilling Sunday, report we man.
