VAWA, Part 27
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits
It is Sunday! We have proven (that is, if correlation = causation) that our jokes bring about approvals and positive progress. Accordingly, here is our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke: =========================================== THE BLONDE BANK-ROBBER A redhead, a brunette, and a blonde robbed a bank and were trying to evade the police. They came upon a farm and hid in the barn. The redhead hid near the horses, the brunette hid near the cows, and the blonde hid in a pile of potatoes. The police came to search the barn and stopped first near the horse stables. The redhead let out a hearty "Neigh!" The cops were convinced that the horses were indeed alone, and the redhead escaped. The police then searched near the cow pens. The brunette let out a hearty "Moooo!" The cops were again convinced, and the brunette was able to escape. The police then turned to the stall where the blonde had hidden. The blonde, seeing how easily her companions had gotten away, said, "POTATO!" -
Report: Texas Has Saved Humanity Over 3 Trillion Seconds By Shortening 'You All' To 'Y'all' TEXAS — A new report out of Texas A&M University revealed that Texans have thus far saved humanity three trillion seconds by brilliantly shortening the term "you all" to "y'all." According to researchers, no other linguistic development in all of history has saved the human species from more wasted time or syllables. "Many lifetimes have been literally saved by 'y'all'," stated lead researcher Dr. Marty Schmitt. "Well, not you all, like the people gathered here in front of me listening. I don't know if you guys have done anything for humankind. I'm betting on pretty neutral. But the word 'y'all' has saved so much time and opened countless windows of opportunity for the human race. Thanks, y'all. Again, not speaking to you people." [...] https://babylonbee.com/news/report-word-yall-has-saved-humanity-over-3-trillion-seconds-by-shortening-you-all

Get Pfizer working on a vaccine for this -- they'd surely be happy to help. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Minnesota Republicans Introduce Bill Classifying 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' a Mental Illness Senate Republicans in Minnesota are set to introduce a bill that classifies "Trump Derangement Syndrome," commonly referred to as TDS, as a mental illness. For those not privy to the latest medical journals, TDS is a condition where otherwise normal humans turn into frothing, wild-eyed lunatics at the mere mention of a particular golden-haired president. Symptoms include spontaneous outbursts of "Orange Man Bad!", an uncontrollable urge to blame him for everything (including, but not limited to, their burnt toast), and a knack for seeing Hitler in everything he says. The bill, already logged into the legislature website, will be formally introduced and read in the chamber on Monday. It has five Republican authors added to it. tjasmin111, welcome to the forum! This is an old thread (now closed to further comment). Sabela doesn't have an immigration timeline, but you can hover your cursor over the name "Sabela" and click "find content" in the pop-up box. This will show that Sabela passed that stage and several more, and so all is well. If you're still concerned about your own issue, you can start a fresh thread.

If South Africa gets its act together, maybe this won't be necessary for long. I have no specific knowledge, but my guess is that Nairobi would be the only consulate on the east-ish coast of Africa that might have the wherewithal to handle transfers. A bigger concern for me would be how and where "U.S. Citizen Services" would be handled.

Evidence of meeting and ongoing relationship
TBoneTX replied to Bfhaynes's topic in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus
Brian, good thinking. What you're describing is called "front-loading the petition package." The requirements to pass USCIS's standards for the petition are minimal. Petitioners often fail to realize that the visa interview at the consular phase is even more crucial. When dealing with a difficult consulate or one in a high-fraud country, it's prudent to include extra "evidence of a bona fide relationship" such as documentation of your multiple trips. It's important not only to document your DUI, but to clarify that your fiancee is fully aware of it. I would put USCIS's required materials on top of your package, and behind this have a cover sheet with "FOR THE CONSULATE" atop the boarding passes, receipts, and selected photos from each trip, along with selected correspondence throughout your relationship, that you want the consular officers to see. Be very careful to exclude any correspondence in which you playfully refer to each other as "husband/wife." "Now" is a relative term -- it will take many months before your petition is adjudicated, and months after that before it's assigned to a consulate, and longer still to obtain a visa interview. -

Dad Issues Kids Night Vision Goggles So Family Never Has To Turn On A Light Again HOULTON, ME — Local man Chris Porter stumbled upon an incredible life hack to reduce his family's electric bill after giving each of his children a pair of night vision goggles so his family would never have to turn on a light ever again. "Look, kids! This is an ATN PVS-7! It has a wide field of view and sharp resolution to allow for increased visibility and target acquisition," Porter told his kids. "Aren't they great? Now put these on and I'll turn off the lights. Forever." According to sources, [...] https://babylonbee.com/news/dad-issues-kids-night-vision-goggles-so-family-never-has-to-turn-on-a-light-again

Some really compelling arguments are in this article. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Use of Red Flag Laws Doesn't Mean They're Effective Red flag laws are one of those things that are far too popular for anyone's own good. I get the idea of disarming dangerous people. The problem is that there's already a mechanism to do that lawfully. People get their due process rights observed and, if it turns out they're really dangerous, they get their gun rights revoked. They'd basically become someone else's responsibility, much like a child in many regards. It's not an easy thing to do, but these are people's rights we're talking about here. It shouldn't be easy. Red flag laws skip this due process entirely and just take the guns based on one party's word that they seem dangerous. The problem is that the aforementioned method, we always had put someone in charge of keeping that person out of trouble. Red flag laws don't. They just treat the gun as the source of all problems. And I'm more than sick of stories about how the problem is that it's just not implemented more.
