    CONGRATULATIONS!

glad the tip with the parking helped.. I had my appointment at 10am and there was no line to get into the building, so it's good that those of us with different experiences can pass them on!

and.. the journey may have come to an end.. but now you'll have the 'fun' job of working out when to apply for a passport (i'm waiting) and the forum threads on 'how to sign the Naturalization certificate' are a rabbit hole too.. ha ha.

I think contacting the SSA office is supposed to be done too, to change immigration status, but those have to be done in person and they're all currently closed.

anyway - glad it all went well!

Without details, no one here can help you.  Maybe he should register as a VJ member and ask his questions.

Otherwise, wait for the letter to come in the mail.

    you're very welcome!

Good Luck with the Interview - another local tip I can think of is: don't go to the 'Los Angeles mall' to Park.. it is directly across from the Federal Building, but currently for staff only due to Covid-19. there were a few other 'no public parking' signs up around there too.

I found Public Parking in the Aiso Parking garage, just a few minute's walk away.

Had my rescheduled (from March) Naturalization Interview this morning (Los Angeles)

everything went well - pretty standard but quite thorough.. I had divorce and traffic ticket paperwork to go through. apart from that I didn't have to show any extra documentation (taxes etc) apart from the permanent resident card, drivers license and passport.

pleasantly surprised to be told the Oath would be happening on the same day too, so it's all being taken care of at one time.

I was still happy to have over prepared just in case anything else had been asked for, as these things can change from officer to officer.

I won't make a long post - but am happy to answer any questions regarding how the process works in L.A. right now if anybody wants to know.

Someone should tell the families of the people who are currently fighting a losing battle against the virus. I'm sure that they'd love to know that they'll be fine.

What a weird thread. Don’t tell the people here in Arizona that the virus is weakening. News or no news. Reality is 90% of the icu beds are being used in Arizona

    Hmmm no.

We take advice from the head of the country’s infectious disease Centre with 50 years of infectious disease experience and that’s Dr. Fauci and his team.

Dr. Fauci is extremely well respected in his field and has served under 6 different presidents right from Reagan before anyone claims there’s a political angle to this.

Dr. Fauci is very well know in my area of research and it’s disappointing to see these attacks on him and his family from people who have no foundational understanding in the sciences.

The unnecessary heartache to families has been caused by a bungled response to this virus at pretty much every level of government. We had our chance to lock things down long enough to put in a robust tracing system, encourage social distancing/mask wearing when we did need to venture out, expand PPE/ICU capacity, etc. but nope. We blew it.

Thank you usmsbow. This helps. Wish they could do a virtual interview so to speak rather than have applicants go to the office.

I think it's an amazing idea. Changing times call for changing ways we do things. Ceremonies are exactly what it is : ceremonial.
No need holding up people's citizenships just because of a ceremony.

The President said the cases of Covid 19 would be soon back to zero last February. And look at us now. Corona virus has changed everything we were used to.

Each person is different, but for me I can't see any reason why I could not provide the recent history details and swear the oath at the end of the interview (even if not approved at that stage), then simply get the certificate in the mail.  I don't see any benefit of sitting around for hours with a thousand strangers just to have a ceremony.

I don't care a bit to attend the oath ceremony in person. This pandemic situation is with us at LEAST until the end of this year and USCIS should adapt. They can't just sit and go to the "freeze mode". Those who want to attend in person can be given the option to wait for a few months and possibly in 2021 when things are settled to have oath ceremony but the rest can be done virtually similar to Australia oath ceremony.

I am on the same page. Maybe people should be given the option. My wife and I when we get to naturalization are good with anything simple. If they just want to take my money and send me the certificate in the mail I'm good with that. As long as my end goal is reached ( wife becoming a citizen) I'm not too concerned with how that takes place.

Exactly the same way they do it in Australia. The technology is available to do it.

Congratulation on your MBA but the comparison is not really valid. Your diploma already saying that you are graduated, but people who applied for citizenship are still waiting.

This is an unusual situation and requires new and different approach for almost everything. We are not sure when this will end or how. That's why we need to adapt with the current.

What if your school wouldn't award you your MBA until you attended graduation, at some undermined time in the future, perhaps late next year?

I think that's a great idea. Of course I would prefer to attend an actual ceremony, the experience would be so much more memorable. But we are dealing with a pandemic for the time being and we just have to adjust our expectations to this new normal in order to get things going. I think some cities in Australia has already started doing this.

I only hope the local offices come up with other alternatives to ease the rush....Instead of waiting on the Judicial ceremonies. Like the ones they (field offices) hold on the same day of the interview.

I just received an email that my oath ceremony has been scheduled.
This is an email only! There is no other information about it on myuscis or egov.
My ceremony (end march) was cancelled due to the covid. this notice does not mention re-scheduling it is identical to the first "ceremony scheduled" email sent months ago.

So how will USCIS pay its employees or rather where will the money come from for that department?  Aren't they based on fees collected from the applicants?

Which speaks to his cruelty and psychopathy. He has no concern for the chaos he is causing for millions of people right now. His actions are sick and toxic.

A sane and competent president would NEVER make such an announcement via TWITTER at 10pm in the evening and with ZERO details.

How the USA ever allowed itself to be ruled by this moronic psychopath baffles me daily.
