VJ has people with all kind os visas and AOS.

The foreign medical done by a K1 applicant is only valid for 1 year.

The medical done inside of the US is valid for 2 years and can't be more than 60 days older from the filing date of the I-130.

Like you all, I've been waiting. My AOS interview date (3/31) was cancelled. I popped into the USCIS public webinar on the 18th to see if they have any updates (it's better to hear from the official source, right?). Like what I expected, they provided some useful information, but not much earth-shattering news. They also ended access to the webinar like 2 seconds after it ends :<

Basically they go in great details to explain how to enter the facility (mask, health questionnaires, follow the signs, etc). But we know that already. Bellow are a couple things I think particularly applicable to me, and you:
Since reopening, USCIS' top priority was naturalization ceremonies, then naturalization interviews and AOS interviews. They explain that since these ceremonies are shorter, safer for people involved, and obviously they can arrange for a bunch of people at a time, this is what they will concentrate on resolving the backlog first. They anticipate to be done with the majority of naturalization ceremonies backlog by the end of July before turning priority to interviews.
They will most likely maintain 50% of the interview capacity per day to allow clean-up, distancing.
ASC are expected to reopen around July 13, depending on local health orders.
For cancelled interview: cases cancelled will be rescheduled first (Generally!!). Tbh I think it very much depends on the CO working on your case. A source on Reddit (a representative is having 3 clients with their new AOS interview - although they are all first time scheduled appointment, so that's just adding insult to injury.

Overall, I really hope there're rescheduled interviews coming our way. It will, just have to wait more. From what I can see on our platform regarding new event dates, USCIS is prioritizing: Naturalization ceremonies, then naturalization interviews, then AOS interviews. Hope this help you all.

Our interview was rescheduled! Case status is now 'Interview Was Scheduled'. Will wait for the mail to see what the date is.

We originally filed in December, had an interview scheduled for early April, and had that cancelled in late March. We've been on Interview Ready to Schedule since early May. It updated today.

So it looks like cancelled interviews are now being scheduled.

vanessanguyen083 got a reaction from NancyNguyen in AOS in progress, EAD in hand, can i fly?
Prior to October 2021, all you need for domestic flight is a driver's license. If you have the EAD/AP card now, I'm afraid a passport is necessary, and the combo card acts only as verification of an "authorized stay." EAD/AP card is not on the TSA acceptable ID list. So a driver's license, or a passport with the combo card.

I agree with your post OP.  Unfortunately, with the gridlock in our federal government these days, things will not change, the system is what it is and people will game it, exploit it.  There are whole communities inside and outside the US who help each other get to the US any way they can.  After my husband arrived last year on a CR-1, he joined a Facebook group of Brazilians in the SF Bay Area.  There are attorneys advertising their services, to help people who entered on a tourist visa become legal through bogus asylum claims or get married and adjust status, and many who charge a fee for illegals to use their Uber or Lyft accounts so that they can work.  They share information on which hospitals to go to where they can get free healthcare services.  It has been very interesting and eye-opening to learn more about this community, and I'm sure similar ones exist all over the country. The sad part of all this is that many come to the US on tourist visas planning to stay, hoping for a better life, and then they find out how expensive it is here and how hard it is to earn money in the underground economy.  For many of them the American dream is more like a nightmare.

I don’t know where to submit this so move if in wrong forum or delete if not allowed but am frustrated!

This whole visa waiting game is hard but it has to happen ...

But what makes us (husband and I) frustrated is people who want to enter the US on a tourist visa and just stay because it’s quick and easy.
it’s the people who don’t do it the “proper” way - the way we are doing it.... via consular processing etc if that’s even the proper way - who knows 🤷‍♀️

Ive told the same person on FB 1 million times that “wife cannot enter USA on tourist visa with intent to immigrate” ... but they just want a quick, easy way for a “green card” - like don’t we all? Don’t we all want to be with our spouse?

if all due respect to others I really find it hard to also believe that someone went on JUST a holiday and then “circumstances changed” and they just stayed 🧐 no furniture to sell? No rental to cease? No car to sell? I don’t know, resign? Do the right thing and give your 2 weeks notice? Get all your belongings? End your life in your home country before you make a new life?

this is really frustrating to see. It’s a really lonely process that is just full of the “unknown”.

it is the path we picked - consular processing because (a) don’t wanna commit visa fraud 😆 especially if I want to be an attorney and (b) because it’s the right way? Correct me if I’m wrong.

single parenthood while we wait is hard. Lonely and hard and yes a consequence of our actions still lonely nonetheless.

vanessanguyen083 reacted to LilyKins in Updated Version of the I-864?
    Hi,

We're in the process of putting together our AOS from F-1 package. We've gotten almost all of the required evidence and paperwork together, but we've been waiting on our joint sponsor's I-864. Their package is now complete, but as we live in different states there's no way we'll have our entire AOS package prepared and mailed by 02/23 (their package has to be mailed to us so we can add it to the AOS package). They (and we) will now have to use the new, updated version of the I-864 to complete our application.

Has anyone managed to find the new one? The press release from USCIS (https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-announces-public-charge-rule-implementation-following-supreme-court-stay-nationwide-injunctions) states that the updated I-864 will be published the week of Feb 2, but when I download the form from their webpage it is still dated 03/06/18, with an expiration date of 03/31/2020, which is the form they're no longer accepting.

Any suggestions? Or is it a waiting game until they publish the new one?

Research. Research. Research. There's lots to do before filing. It sounds like you just started looking into the process, which is totally fine, but know what you're getting into before you file anything.
The K-1 is fine, and I did it myself. Just know of the drawbacks, such as with travel, work, possibly not being able to drive, etc. for several months. Or what happens if the marriage doesn't work out before the green card is approved.

    Edit:
Amazon is a for-profit company focused on providing goods & services against competition. The role of USCIS and the DOS isn't to make you happy and use them again.
I'm not saying that things couldn't or shouldn't be better. But the process is so much more complex than placing an order.

We've been following this website for 2 years and it has been AMAZINGLY helpful. We started our K1 process in Oct 2018.  Partner came in Sept 2019 to the USA and we got married and submitted our AOS packet in Oct 2019.  We had our Green card interview yesterday (2/18/2020) in Milwaukee and status changed to "card being produced" today🙌🏾.
During the interview the officer asked how we met, where we were from and asked for our  Passports and Drivers Licenses, and proof of marital relationship. We gave a copy of our lease, insurance, cell phone account info, and beneficiary documents as proof.  The interview wasn't difficult but when so much rides on it, it's hard not to be nervous.  Thanks again for all of the helpful folks contributing to this site....now to figure out how to file taxes as a married person with foreign income and a few other issues😬.  Best of Luck to everyone else on this journey!

Had the interview today at Columbus office and it took about 30mins from the time we checked in. We were both taken to the same room, went through the I-485 form to confirm our information then the yes/no questions. After that, we were asked some questions about our life together, mostly the usual ones like how & when we met. The most random question we got was what we had for dinner. For additional docs, we only gave our joint bank statement and health insurance. At the end, the IO said that she has all she needs and our case will be reviewed so now we just have to wait for the result.

    My timeline for reference is:
    PD- 10/09/19
    NOA1 - 10/30/19
    Bio - 11/25/19
    Interview - 02/18/2020

Detroit Field Office. Had my interview today. Here's my timeline.

    Application Received on Oct 21st.
    NOA1 on Dated Oct 30th.
    Biometrics on Nov 19th.
    Interview on Feb 13th, today.

Interview went smoothly. Took 10 mins. IO was the sweetest lady. Most questions were the security questions at the end of i485 if im a terrorist lol. Rest were basic ones about how we met, the info we submitted in i485, and what we had as evidence of bona fide marriage. We had lease, joint bank statements, joint credit cards and pictures, IO didn't even care to look at the pictures. We were approved on the spot, and 4 hours after interview status changed into "New card is being produced".

Overall experience was very smooth and easy and pleasant. Good luck to you all in your journeys.
