Calling means that a person will actually look at your case online and tell you what needs to be submitted based on your circumstances.   Messaging does not insure anyone takes a look at it in a timely fashion.

The petitioner needs to call USCIS>

ES0603 reacted to Sofitalian in Questions about DS-5540
Hi, I can talk to your second question based on what our lawyer helped us with:

For assets, we listed all our assets (individually owned as well as jointly owned, in US or outside US). Our house in US have both our names on the deed so we include it. We didn't do a formal appraisal. We used the website Zillow, type in our house address, and get an estimate as if we are to sell the house (you can do this for free), then we screen captured that as a supporting document. I think my husband used the current estimated price on the house and minus the mortgage already paid out to arrive on the value for "Home Equity". We also included bank statements showing balances of our bank accounts (savings and chequing). Our lawyer suggested listing ALL assets we own, but for liabilities, only list the beneficiary's.

Hope this helps. I had my visa interview last week and the CO didn't ask for the DS5540.

I wish they would just accept expedite payments. I'd gladly pay more to start my life with my spouse sooner (cr-1). I just hope the USCIS doesn't hold petitioners hostage and make them protest to the govt to get more funding.

Sorry, I must say right now, if you're truly naturalized, you have no real reason to start asking people to not email their congressmen to sort this out, you are not going through the pain of a possible extra year of waiting for an i-130 approval, a process that generally takes 12 months on its own. (Yes I truly believe COVID-19 won't be gone until next year)

That's not to dismiss your opinion but the truth of the matter is that you got over the hurdle, these people haven't... You are with your SO right now (or were with), these people face the possibly of being separated for another year. It's a different type of mindset you put yourself in when stressed and upset like that, I know you probably remember it judging by how delayed your process was. These people haven't faced that breath of relief yet.

I saw that there isn't a May 2020 I-130 filers thread yet, so I am creating one. Please post your updates here. Good luck to us all!

    Stay positive.
    Spend online time together.
Keep yourself busy in some activity when you both can talk.

Make sure all the case related documents and information is available for the future steps of immigration.

As basic as it sounds, working full time and videogames really.
We also video chatted every day, but I am assuming that this is a given for every one in the same situation.

    Hi ES0603,

Only USCIS knows why your case was touched, but I remember mine was also looked at days after I filed it, then silence for months. So I don’t think they looked at my case to process it at that point.

By the way people also get date changes when USCIS is considering to transfer cases to other service center. They look at cases to see which ones to actually transfer, I assume.

I hope you will be approved soon!

    Hi All,

Just logged in to check and it was approved after being sent to Nebraska!  I filed online Feb 2020.  Is this the actual approval aka NOA2?

I am so surprised and ecstatic.  Truly surreal after reading so much information explaining how approvals are only going to happen in 12 months++

ES0603 reacted to Punisher in Are spousal visas still being processed during Coronavirus shutdowns?
Not only ir/cr (and other) visas are still being processed, these are among only few categories that due to Trump's recent order are being processed. That means if you're lucky to be within these categories, you can expect much faster processing times currently than historical average on uscis' website would suggest.

Service centers and NVC are working. The only thing impacted are field offices including embassies. That's the only thing that may slow you down, however given how much faster processing times are prior to the interview stage (assuming one is lucky to be in the right category) on net you would be still months ahead.

As an example: our I-130 submitted online in Jan 2020 (Nebraska) was approved in mere 5,5 months.

If Trump's order get's extended by another 60days (extremely likely) I would expect i-130 approval times for ir/cr categories to drop to around 3 months.

Couples living apart in separate countries will not be required or expected to have such items.

What you are referring to is evidence, not proof.  Now that the semantics have been dealt with, there is no set number for pieces of evidence one should have as every case is different.  You bring what you have and what you feel makes the most compelling case.  With that being said, your focus should be on evidence of time spent together in-person since that is your strongest evidence.

ES0603 reacted to JFH in Interview document questions
Those are not required items. People like to take them to interviews to strengthen their case of a bona fide marriage, especially at embassies where they have an uphill battle (the likes of Nigeria, Ghana, etc) or where the couple has various factors in their situation that count against them and where extra evidence would be helpful (huge age gap, several previous marriages, short period of time between marriages, married on the first meeting, and pairings that are beyond the societal norms of the beneficiary’s country - e.g. young North African Muslim man with a much older white divorced Christian woman who is beyond the usual age of childbearing).

I took a bagful of evidence with me to the London interview. Almost every item never made it out of my bag.

I agree. Lawyers concentration is very low on individual case. They don't care about your miseries of long distanced relationship and pain you go through. They are just there to see their $$. Our experience has been not very good so far.

Nope, its online submission not in hard form/copies. So there is no question of print or signing the application. but the lawyer should have given us opportunity to review before its submission. Thanks

I would call thr NVC and ask for the DS-260 opened again and fill it out yourself.  Explain there are a multitude of mistakes made by your lawyer.
They may not do it but document the mistakes and upload it on CEAC.
