So I got a notification today that my CC has been charged $680 by USCIS. Basically 5 days, which I believe is great news! #Babysteps

You filed the first one pretty early so I think you would have enough time even if it's rejected. I would suggest calling USCIS at some point to get more clarity on it.

tiantian2 got a reaction from Nelson Polo in Application rejected
@Nelson Polo do you now know why it was improperly filed? What difference did you make in your new application? Hopefully you get your extension letter before 6.14!

I just realized that technically I'm not a May filer (just dropped off to UPS today June 2nd). Anyone sent out I-751 in June?

tiantian2 got a reaction from USC4SPOUSE in Starting a new job soon but am really worried about the I-9. Is the expired GC + extension letter good enough?
Hope you got your extension letter soon! That should suffice.
Also, most employers nowadays do E-verify. So regardless of whether your SSN reads "not valid for work", as long as they run the Everify, they should be able to see that the SSN is valid to work. You can self-check on the SSN first to be sure.

tiantian2 got a reaction from USC4SPOUSE in Do I need to file for address change, if I simply want to remove the "In care of"?
@USC4SPOUSE haha in my case I think AOS destroyed (or damaged) my character! I was pretty chill before that, after which I became a nervous ball and stayed that way for years.

tiantian2 got a reaction from USC4SPOUSE in Do I need to file for address change, if I simply want to remove the "In care of"?
@USC4SPOUSE Got it, thank you! I was in a different city and doing long distance with husband when first applying for green card. For convenience, I put my citizen husband's address as "in care of" mine at that time so that I can receive all USCIS correspondence in time. I don't know if it had a negative impact--at interview, the officer talked with my husband for an hour! and then with me for half hour, that was already 4:30 pm something and office is about to close. Good times...that experience certainly added to my anxiety response...

New card being produced. Requested to expedite on 27th June, and today I'm approved for a new card

tiantian2 reacted to KandN in EAD Expedite Timeline After Fax Request
I've been reading this thread for a while now and want to now contribute by adding my EAD expedite timeline (got a notification that card is in production today!!)
I am adjusting status from F1 (marriage based) and my OPT is expiring on 7/9. I've been working on OPT since last summer and requested EAD expedite based on financial loss from lost wages as my employer has to terminate me on this coming Monday but is willing to take me back when the EAD issue is resolved.
5/6: application packet containing I-130, I-485 and I-765 delivered to USCIS Chicago Lockbox
5/10: NOA 1
6/3: Biometrics Appointment at local ASC
6/14: Requested expedite of EAD based on severe financial loss to person by calling USCIS. T1 representative opened an expedite case
6/20: Case status changed to "We sent a response to your request to have your case expedited "
6/26: Received evidence request by USPS snail mail (not sure why I did not get an email instead)
6/28: Faxed evidence to USCIS including pay stubs, notice from employer that they have to terminate me, statement of student loans, and current lease as well as a cover letter quantifying a dollar amount of financial loss due to lost wages and discontinued medical coverage
7/1: I-485 status changed to "RFIE was mailed" (wasn't expecting the expedite to go through after this"
7/5 afternoon: RFIE letter arrived asking for birth certificate (of which I had sent two copies with the original submission, go figure)
7/5 evening: I-765 status changed to "Card is being produced"
I did not involve a congressional representative; however I did put a lot of effort into crafting my cover letter and I think that with a valid job offer in hand that can go a long way.
Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

tiantian2 reacted to geowrian in Does receiving marriage-based EAD means I lose F1 Student status?
EAD is a benefit, not a status in itself. One can hold multiple benefits at a time - some via status, some via permission from DHS.
Performing an activity that violates your status generally terminates your status. Any other benefits you hold (i.e. work authorization via an EAD and/or authorized stay via a pending I-485) would then kick in.

Hey everyone!! so excited! I requested an expedite on June 14th received letter for evidence on June 20th and faxed those off June 21st today I received an email and text saying new card is being produced. so it took 11 days. best of luck to those still waiting.
I didn't have a job offer just filed under financial loss. after waiting 300 days for my K1 I wasn't doing the huge waiting game all over again.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Finally!
Just received the E Mail to say the card is in production. How long does it usually take to arrive in the mail?
Check my timeline for how it happened.
Interestingly my Senators office called USCIS an hour before to chase the second expedite and BANG within an hour the card was in production!

Did you get some confirmative answer from senator that your case is routed for expedite? If so, less need to worry I guess
-
tiantian2 got a reaction from AffableAndy in EAD Expedite Timeline After Fax Request
Do it now! No reason to wait. It may take USCIS a few days or even longer to send the request for evidence.

I don't know if this will work, there is a website called Wayback Machine that archives old web publications, then you enter the website you want to search back from there, and click on the past dates. Usually there's a capture, but I"m not sure how it works with the USCIS. I tried an earlier date and it says 5-7 months, slightly shorter than the current 6.5 to 8.5 months. (I'm testing using 765)
