Forgot to jump on here and give an update. I kinda stopped checking this group as I was seeing most people were applying to the n400 and we were not in that boat. So anyway, submitted the i-751 in January 2022. Never applied for the n400 as I’ve seen most of you are doing. I-751 approved and 10 year GC delivered in July of 2023. No interview. Good luck everyone ! :)

The "secret" is that back in Spring-Summer '23, USCIS adopted a LIFO (last-in-first-out) approach.  So, you and others that submitted on or after that are getting quicker approvals and those of us that submitted it earlier.

No secrets, please don’t think that the quick approvals had anything to do with the quality of the package. USCIS is trying to look better and improve their stats at the expense of people who filed years ago.

    Sincerely,
    An August 2021 filer.

Received date of February 25, 2021.  I just got an email stating that a new card is being produced and will be mailed to me as of today.  Good luck to all of you still waiting.  Now to help my husband with his English so he can apply for citizenship.  But for now, we don't have to worry about a stupid extension letter every few months.

This just means that you should create a personal copy of the K1 visa packet for your S.O. and your own records.  Whatever you send in your initial submission, your S.O. should have a copy of the exact same thing so they are familiar with the packet and can answer any pertinent questions at the time of the interview.

This is true for anything you submit to USCIS.  Everyone on VJ normally suggests that you make a copy of each packet you submit so you have it for your records not only to be familiar with it throughout the process, but it case something needs to be re-submitted.

Since your SO has not arrived yet, when they arrive, it would still be prudent to get an SSN - rather than waiting to get it via AOS - even if you don't absolutely need it for the marriage license.

Having an SSN allows you to get joint accounts and other things that might drag if you wait for EAD/AP/GC.  Just FYI.

It appears you both need to have an SSN:

I don’t know what is WoM but I’ll be eligible to apply for N-400 in December based on 5 years having a green card and I will. I was just hoping to get second green card by then. I did not apply after 3 years and my martial status was not clear at that time and I since filed for divorce, so I’m glad I did not apply after 3.

My outside of processing time starts at the end of October, that’s the earliest I can inquire. On the website they date they process 80% of the cases within 29 months, so there are still 20% that are not processed within this timeframe , so you can inquire several months after that only

Did you try the "outside of processing time"?  It appears you are at a point you ought to submit a request.

I am sure there will plenty of people that will come and defend them - I am sure some of them do their jobs and I know the workload is a ton.  But, the thing that gets me is the inefficiency that they work with that is just a mess.  Then, they turn around and do the LIFO approach to skew the numbers. SMH.

At any rate, I have done the quarterly rant. LOL

RambaCat I hope yours comes through as you are closer to the 30+ than the rest of us.  Haha  Keep us posted!
