My wife and I took 3 international trips from November 2019 thru January 2020, and entered VIA Air,( Seattle) Land,(San Ysidro) and Sea (Long Beach cruise terminal). And had no issues. Never pulled into secondary, never asked any crazy questions, it was easy every time. Just did AOS interview and IO was impressed with the 6 trips we took our first year being married, 3 of them international. He even joked and said when he saw our last exit and entry at the cruise terminal in January that if we spent a week together on a cruise ship and didn't kill each other, we must have a bonified relationship.. LOL

Use it if you have it. You paid enough for it!

Well, AP is not a tourist visa.  Its purpose is clear:

    https://www.uscis.gov/i-131

Evidence that your trip is for educational, employment, or humanitarian purposes

AP is not a tourist visa, and while its good for multiple entries (as long as its valid) it has a very specific purpose.

People frown on visa fraud all the time.. yet using AP for its unintended purpose seems to be A.OK

This was our experience:  my stepdaughter flew directly from NZ to Vancouver, BC (about 3 hours north of us, and the most direct route for a kid traveling alone), so we went up to collect her at the airport and take her sightseeing in Vancouver for a few days before returning home.  Crossed the land border at Blaine, went to secondary.....they were mostly cranky about our contraband satsuma oranges.  No issues with husband's AP or kid's ESTA.

After our daughter's trip, my husband had to take her up to the airport in Vancouver solo, because I had to work.  Coming back that time (after having been in Canada for like two hours) was a different story.  He felt a bit harassed and vowed to not leave again until he has his green card.  Who knows whether the fact that he was without his petitioner (me) made a difference, or if it was because he had crossed there two weeks earlier.

He is a confident 52 year old native English-speaking guy, and not usually rattled by CBP.

    Just our experience, YMMV.

It's always been the case that the only people guaranteed entry are US Citizens.

Bad orange man hasn't changed anything that wasn't already there before.

What has changed that impacts AP?

Don’t worry about it, even GC itself doesn’t give you guaranteed entry. In that sense, AP and GC are similar. Just travel without any worry.

Hello, my husband and I have traveled in August 2018 and came back without problems. I had my US passport, he his AP. Went into secondary inspection as expected and all went well. Good luck

Brazil/US2018 reacted to Just Paul in **TRAVELING WITH ADVANCED PAROLE NOWADAYS??**
The point he was making is that only citizens are guaranteed back into the US.

A holder of AP or GC isn't typically denied re-entry except in very very rare cases. If there is an issue a referral can be made to see an immigration judge.

I had someone who went back home to visit for a few months and her husband pulled the I-864 and filed for divorce while she was gone.   She found out at the POE.  She was allowed to re-enter and then had to file an I-360 petition . . .

If you are absolutely paranoid about being refused re-entry then you will need to wait until you become a citizen.

So people with advanced parole are not allowed back in and there would be noting i can do about it?

Same here. We've been on 'Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview' for 100+ days now. Meanwhile, we're going on our honeymoon trip in early March so fingers crossed our interview isn't scheduled for that time.

I don't think you need to be worried.  I believe it depends on your local USCIS office.  Some are quicker than others.

Our office has pretty good turnaround time and we feel VERY fortunate about this.  Based on USPS tracking, we are projected to receive my wife's GC tomorrow.  We feel for those who have a longer 'tail' than us.

Here is a link on this website with processing times for various offices.  Maybe this can help you gauge things:

    https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aosstats.php

Of course, I hope your turnaround time is quicker than what this link may suggest.  This link is only historical and reliant on people keeping their timelines accurate.  Good luck.  🙂

I wouldn't.  Until he has a valid EAD, he is/was not authorized to work........enough said....

    https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/self-employment-taxes/what-is-irs-form-w-9/L2f51WOD7
"IRS Form W-9 is most commonly used by individuals when they are working as a freelancer or independent contractor. If you ever find yourself filling out a Form W-9, it generally means that a business or person who is paying you money needs your Social Security number so it can notify the IRS of the amount."

We got the "approved" update on Friday, December 13th and the card arrived in the mail on Thursday, December 19th.

5-7 business days is typical, from what I've seen.

Normal. It would be abnormal if you aren't in this status for at least a few months lol
Mine has been in this same status since September 2019 and I'm not expecting any interview date scheduled until at least summer of next year (and that's being hopeful...it'll probably be longer than that). Hopefully you wouldn't have to wait as long!
