Q2018 reacted to NavarreMan in Is Match.com considered a 'marriage broker'?
I will correct myself here. I have never used nor been a member of Match.com. I just looked at their website and see that they use the zip code for their searches. This significantly limits the search results to the US or its territories. I think Canada may also use the 5 digit zip, I am not sure. That would mean that the principal business is domestic, at least for Match.com.
However, they do have an international side as well.

This website may not be excluded under the IMBRA. Again this is a legal definition and I defer (I learn from my mistakes) to any legal folks out there that can decipher this interpretation. Both entities seem to be under one roof so this is a sticky area. What is the harm in providing the info for the website regardless of the IMBRA status?
Funny, eating crow doesn't taste that bad but I wouldn't want to make a habit of it.

My wife and I met on Match.com . For IMBRA I asked a question directed at Match.com and recieved this reply
Match.com is not an international marriage broker as defined by the IMBRA act of 2005 best wishes jenniferAtkins@match.com
I sent a copy of this letter in with my paper work .Put down NO it is not and we sailed right through interview with no questions asked about IMBRA.

I apologize. I was thinking of another site that comes up alot on here. People have had success with match.com by emailing them and receiving a written reply from them stating they are not IMB.

Did you actually check the box, "yes" on the form, indicating you met through an IMB, as USCIS states above? If so, that was your first mistake. If not, then I think your email from the site and an explanation will suffice.
Warning to all. Dating websites that are open to people from any country are not IMB's. Some that cater ONLY to matching foreigners to US Citizens, and who charge the US Citizen to obtain the actual contact information of the foreigner, can be problematic.
Since this website's homepage clearly states, "Elena’s Models help you meet real Russian and Ukrainian women for dating, relationships, or marriage, in all parts of the world." I think it is NOT an IMB.

Just print out their terms of service it should state implicitly that they are not a marriage broker, this RFE happens all the time when people say they met online. If I can catch people before they send the petition I tell them to send the T.O.S. with their package.....just in case this happens.

It matters because of IMBRA, not to make matters hard.

No, income is far more important.
Savings only matter if you don;t have enough income.

Just change the date and the addressee. Sign it and send it out.

It should be addressed to the Department of State, then the US Embassy or Consulate you will be interviewing at. See the Example in the section at the top of VJ called Example Forms. Also, since you are the USC you should state you continue to support the beneficiaries petition.
    Good Luck.

Q2018 reacted to pacharya in Original letter affirming your desire to marry your Fiance(e)
    Hi guys,
I was going through a checklist for the list of items that I need to send to my Fiancee for interview and just had a question for one of the items.
On VJ website, under K1 Guidelines after getting NOA 2, step 3. mentions the following:
Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance(e) and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).
I looked at the example forms but I only see the sample for (Fiance(e) Letter of Intent). Will it be the same one for the interview? Did anyone else use anything different? Do you have a sample?
    Thanks,

Shouldn't be a issue, just have your husband receive a verification of employment with 2-3 months of paystubs and you should be okay. The taxes from the year before will not affect your up to date information. 👍

Q2018 reacted to EandH0904 in What does notice date means from Noa2 hard copy?
Yes. The approval date was the 7th if that's what the hard copy says. The track and text notification are not as official.
So your fiance has until January 7th to complete his/her interview.

You can start gathering documents that aren't date sensitive. Like passport, BC, taxes. Other things like the police certificate and proof of employment would have to be recent. But, basically yes, you just have to wait, unfortunately.

I just want to tell my story here, even though my i129f was adjudicated a few years back.
We met online on a website that no longer exists and would connect two people randomly.
We simply answered that “we met online 20xx and then in person in city, state in 20xx”. We were kinda afraid we would get rfe for the website but we were approved.
To be on the safe side, I brought to my k1 interview a Wikipedia (lol) article about it and a statement saying it wasn’t an IMB and it was shut off, but it wasn’t asked.
Later on during the aos interview the officer did ask about it but we just said the name of it he made a face like he didn’t recognize it and then we said it was no longer active and that was it, can’t even recall if he wrote anything down.

So it’s most likely they won’t even bat an eye about it at all, but it’s always good to be prepared just in case.

    good luck

They do not require you to print TOS (terms of service) for couples that meet online. That's a myth. I wish VJ'ers would stop spreading this bogus info. I went through a high-fraud country (we met online) and never an issue. Many of my friends and acquaintances married from dating sites - never an issue. No TOS print-outs. Almost everyone meets online. You only need to say that you met through online dating site. That's not a marriage broker. Quit worrying about it - not an issue in the digital age.

As everybody guessed rightly the MSP office is officially the slowest in the country. However, i must add that the online posted times are inaccurate. @sausa got interviewed on October 31, 2017 with a priority date of Dec 7, 2016.

And today i got my interview letter for Jan 22, 2018, my priority date is Dec 8, 2016.

Best of luck to all the people who are waiting. You need to be patient in general and Doubly patient for Minnesota Filers.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

I did not see a thread for the local office here so I started one.
From what I heard the average waiting time for an interview to be scheduled is 13 - 14 months in this office.

Note that I do not intend to complain. Given their work-load (cases from 3.5 states - MN, ND, SD and some counties in WI) and the office relocation this year, the delay is expected.
Just wanna know if there is any other filers here so that we stay together and keep everyone update about the current situation.

The processing time on USCIS website for this office is (for Sep 30, 2017)
    I-485 - July 16, 2016

    Cheers everyone!

Q2018 reacted to Sukie in Rejected I-129F because of outdated form; question about re-submission
Just fill out and sign a new form.  Everything else from the old packet you can resend with the new form - even the check.  They haven't cashed the check, so it's still good.

Best of luck.  I got caught out with this when I was filing for Australian residency, so I know what it feels like.

Q2018 reacted to kcoyclay1 in How to resubmit rejected I-485, I-131 and AP
    (1) You sign your name
    (2) Refill the documents and resubmit. Do not use the old ones with the USCIS markings.
    (3) Yes rearrange them as if you are submitting it for the first time.
    (4) Yes change the date to reflect the present date it is filed. They did not accept the previous application and as such the old date cannot be used as you are no where in their system.
Don't worry; your application was not actually rejected it was unaccepted because it was incomplete and they returned it to be corrected. That's all. Write your son's name but sign on his behalf where his signature would go; they know that a baby cannot sign. Remember that you are not to sign in the section that is for lawyers or other qualified persons filling out the form on your behalf. Sign your name in the signature section instead of your son. Everything will work out just fine .

the check was only endorsment stamped it would be fine to use the same but if you feel better sending a new one thats good too. kinda stinks that you have to fill out new forms because an older version was used its not like they really change all that much. good luck to you with the rest of your journey looks like you've gotten your little bump in the road out of the way early so hoping for smooth sailing for the rest
