  1. To determind residency in Canada they use CRA to make this call here the link https://es-cpas.com/residents-of-canada/leaving-canada-when-are-you-no-longer-a-resident-for-tax-purposes/#:~:text=you usually become a non,the country you settle in YOu have two issues here. If she continues to claim Canadian residency even with reentry permit she can lose her US PR. THis is why she needs to be listed as a non resident at the college.
  2. She will not stop being a Canadian PR holder per the Canadian guidelines. But she won't be a resident of Canada. She can't be a resident in Canada and be a permanent resident in the US. Don't confuse keeping her Canadian PR as the same as being a resident in Canada. Just like when you move from one Province to another you are not a resident of two Provinces you're only a resident in the one you will be actually living in. The US does not allow PR holders to live permanently outside the US. It is grounds to revoke that GC. This is why she needs to be listed by the school as a non resident student. If she claims being a resident of Canada and/or uses Provincial health Care, that is only available to Canadian residents the ones who make Canada their permanent home. It's not for Canadians or Canadian PR's who no longer make Canada their permanent home. She will no longer be a resident of Canada once she enters the US and endorse the visa declaring her PR status in the US. For immigration she can only be a resident of one country and she will stop being a resident in Canada they day she endorses the visa.
  3. ~~Moved to Moving Here and YOur New Life, from AOS from Work, Student and Tourist VIsas- As similar topics are discussed here.~~
  4. She will no longer be a resident of Canada when she crosses to endorse that visa. She can't claim to be a Canadian resident after she enters the US with her visa claiming to be a US resident. One of the requirements as a US Permanent Resident is the US has be your residence. Being away for school is not a permanent resident, if she claims Canadian residency that can put her green card at risk. So not Canadian Health care either. I'm not sure how the student loans will work. She will have to look into that more. I know they don't give you any relief when you move to the US.
  5. ~~Moved to US Embassy and Consulate Discussion - the OP is asking about submitting requested documents.~~
  6. ~~Moved to the Regional forum, from Off TOpic - as the questions is country specific.~~
  7. ~~Two posts removed. We do not allow Whatsapps or telegram groups on VJ as the safety and security of our members is priority.~~
  8. Do you not remember filling out more paperwork after you two were married? If she does have the GC not much you can do. File a report for the abuse of your child and get a good attorney to start the divorce process. One that will stick her with at least half of the debt she created too.
  9. There are members here who's new baby recieved the DS3555 so please do not take it to heart. It truly is random, lawyers are wanting your money that is it that is all. They will give you any reason to keep charging you. Why else would they not tell clients that cases all over are being dismissed pretty regularly since July after a Judge declare 180 some days is not long at all and they are charging 5K plus when ppl are only 3 months in.
  10. ~~Thread locked as the OP as requested her accounts be closed.~~
  11. Have you filed for AOS and has she received her GC yet? If it is still in the works, pull the affidavit of support now. As for the abuse to your child file a police report with proof of it. Protect yourself and your son.
  12. ~~MOved to AOS Family K1/K3 P&P, from K1 P&P- the OP is asking about the AOS stage not the K1 Visa stage.~~
  13. Ever since this summer when the Judge declared 16 months is not too long members have been reporting their WOM being dismissed.
  14. I used to do that. I would drop off the Hillbilly at work and then run over to walmart. I'd stock up on way too much, but now we no longer eat the stuff and I don't want that much candy around for the kids.
  15. I forgot you were K1, you're right about being stuck.
  16. You won't be able to import your items until EAD or GC is in hand. Please check the timelines for EAD/AP it was taking 8 months to a year and nearly 2 years to get GC. You won't be able to leave what so ever without AP. It really might not be worth it with you already past the interview. Even with the Dreaded AP. But for sure check the timelines before deciding.
  17. Animals are simply amazing
  18. Our little girls have a belly now. They are eating maybe too well. I keep them in the Jedi's room at night so they don't attempt to try to eat my geckos. I coax them in there at night with treats, so that is probably contributing to the belly. The Jedi is in absolute love with them. They are helping his anxiety so much. Ticks are gone I keep telling him when feels sad, stressed or worried about something go sit on the floor in his room and Rayla comes and plops herself next to him. She just lays there purring. I think these kittens knew he needed them. When we went to go meet them they instantly jumped up on him. The sign from the foster lady said no young kids, but they said otherwise. I'm so happy we took the chance on them. On litter news, I went back to the crystals and we are at 5 weeks on one bag. No stinks and none of that clay, dusty smells either.
  19. Yes, but this Canadian would have better clothes for the cold up in Canada. Plus I also have kids all four would be out there shoveling Not a single doctor I saw in Canada told me what it was. It wasn't until I saw the allergist here in Arkansas. He thought it was really weird they didn't tell me as it can be quite serious when the hives start and your blood pressure drops. He said I could go into hyperthermia a lot easier than the average Joe. It was is really uncomfortable and painful when the charlie horses start too. I stayed inside a lot. Still do in the winters in Arkansas. Everyone thinks I'm nuts for liking the heat. I sit out there all day if I could. I guess I just haven't warmed up yet
  20. I wondered why you would post this in here. Then you made it all wonky We don't ToT in our area, not worth the time to walk all the streets for 3 houses if we're lucky and then they only give 1 tiny little thing. We went out to a friends area, lots of kids. I think the cold kept many inside, as there weren't as many as last year. Not as many houses either but still plenty giving out candy. The Tornado was a Vampire and the Jedi well he became a Mandalorian. Mommy froze, came home and has been dealing with charlie horses all night. Being allergic to cold sucks.
  21. There are a lot of crossing from Canada. You will have to be more specific or search the Canada forums. I didn't import any cars, I did bring 4 kids, a dog, two cats, a bird which I had to have a Vet meet us at the same time I was going to cross so he can check her over. A hamster, a U-Haul, a truck and my now MIL's car. I crossed and the Twin Saults border, not many go that way and I was lucky that there was a new guy who had experience with the visas. He was able to teach two other BO what to do since they had 5 visas to process.
  22. It is good he is coming back. Now moving forward you two can work together to figure things out.
  23. I agree with Tbone, if your friend really needs or wants help then follow the link above. That is our very own one and only Pushbrk
