  1. Good luck with this, will definitely check back to see how it goes.

Turns out I have 2 USCIS letters waiting for me upon my return. First one I thought would be the interview date. The second I had no idea what it was.

Now i'm starting to think it will be a GC. We'll find out on Sunday when I home.

Edit: On second thought the tracker has not changed from interview scheduled, from what I remember it will change to GC issued.

What does your tracker say? Does it show GC issued or Interview?

All the best to you all for the new year!

    Scotty

  2. Thought I would post an update

    1. Tried to walk into a USCIS office - No dice. Spoke to a really nice security agent (I know if she could've helped me she would have) - She said there was no one physically there to see me/refer me to.

    2. Called USCIS again to pled my case, spoke to a really helpful agent. Turns out they posted me the 24 month extension letter on Tuesday!!! Signed up for informed delivery and got it yesterday. What a stoke of luck! It was meant to be I suppose. (Why they wouldn't just tell me this and have me go through the infopass nonsense I dont know)

Well thats the end of that. Thanks everyone

You need an emergency Infopass appointment for an ADIT stamp.  In September, my wife had a stamp within 24 hours after I called them.  But, your time is short.

    1.  Yes, you can leave.  No one processes through immigration when leaving the US.

    2.  Maybe.....If the airlines will let you board the flight back to the US.

    3.  USCIS issues ADIT stamps, not DOS.

    4.  Try to get an EMERGENCY infopass appointment.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate you.

    3. So I couldn't try and get my ADIT stamp at the London Embassy when I'm there?

USCIS have thrown me into a 30day wait period. They don't deem it to be an Emergency or for need of urgent attention. To be seen I would have to provide documentation to show family emergency or money loss etc.

  4. Hi Everyone,

Well my week just gets better and better. I needed to submit a FOIA request for my I-94 (they're not online after 5 years) and now I have lost my Extension letter.

Called USCIS, 30 days for an info pass appointment?! Thought I would've got something within 72 hours.

I'm due to fly out on the 20th, going back to the UK to see family for Christmas (first time since I came here, covid etc)

    Questions:

    1. Can I leave the US on my British Passport without my ext letter? (I guess they don't care when you're leaving)

    2. I have  copy of the letter, can this help me? (photocopy)

    3. Could I visit the London Embassy when I'm there to get my passport stamped so I can come home?

    4. Could a tier 2 help me? Is it always 30 days? They deemed it Non Urgent

I just want to see my family and stupidly I lost my letter.

    Thanks, Everyone

There are a lot of MSC filers (including myself) who have been waiting for a while after bio appt.  My bio appt was in March 2019....

Yup, I’m not worried anymore. I was just kinda stressed and hadn’t properly put the work in before I made the post.

I now know what all my options/outcomes are now just by searching this forum.

  6. Em, just got my bio appt letter for the 29th. I got it and my heart sank.

I think I'm screwed. I didn't think I would get the Bio appt so fast.

Some of you may know I'm going through a divorce and there is no way it will be processed in time if they call me to interview by the end of the year.

    Rip my American life.

    Sorry to hear.

Meh, it is what it is. Some people are just evil. Worst part was it wasn't just one person but 3 randoms, also one was married with 2 kids, so there is that.

Honestly this forum is incredible. I honestly can't thank you guys enough.

  8. Well boys and girls, I’m back. After being married for 3.5 years my partner has been doing the dirty and we’re going through a separation.

Sometime next week we should be able to file the paperwork and get the process moving forward for a no fault, nothing contested divorce.

I just wonder where this puts me with immigration? The I-751 was filed back in January jointly.

    Main points:

    1. Should I write to uscis advising them we are getting a divorce? - new I-751?

    2. If I write to them I will get an rfe, what if the divorce is not finalized.

3.If I don’t have a final divorce decree for interview will I be put in removal proceedings or will I be living on extensions until the divorce is finalized?

    4. My case is at NBC, so will likely get an interview. I take it if I can’t get them to play nice it will go against me if they don’t come with me to interview?

Thank you all in advance. Wonderful people.

2-3 months is the new norm for USCIS to cash checks and send receipts

That's Crazy! My GC will probably have expired by the time I receive my receipt notice

5-6 weeks is a norm now for anything to happen...

Weird because I thought USCIS loved cashing checks

    No need to worry yet.

Due to COVID and a large volume of applications, they are EXTREMELY behind on processing 751s. We submitted early-mid November and our card was not charged until early January.

Yeh, I thought the processing would be a long wait but just to get a receipt notice I thought would be 2-3 weeks. Crazy

  10. So I submitted my I-751 and it was revived 2 weeks ago.

I paid with credit card and submitted the relevant form. I’ve been checking my credit card statement everyday and nothing.

I messed up and put the cover letter with the credit card form behind it. I know, idiot.

When should I call? When should I expect a rejection? Will I give it a month?

    thanks guys, you’re all great!

  11. If you’ve worked all your life it’s going to be hard. I was idle for 5 months over the summer last year and was practically pulling the walls down. Did a lot of cooking, fishing,  swimming and bought a bike, things I never had time for before.

I was lucky, I’m really close with my in-laws and they are so kind to me. I just did what they did and followed along. They would regularly pick me up to do stuff when my partner was at work. Even my partners grandfather would pick me up and we’d go mootchin around loving life. Maybe try and get in with your in-laws?

When  you do get a job and you like it, boy does it feel good. I’ve been at my  job since aug 19 and already been promoted. Working here is so much better than the uk. Geez, I used to struggle to go to work when I worked in the uk, everyone is so miserable at work, it would bring me down.

You  have some  big, exciting things coming! This covid business does suck but that’ll pass. If you want maybe apply for some remote work jobs?

  12. Enjoy your time back in the UK. We took a trip back for a week before Christmas, wow it was sad coming back to the US.

I've never been homesick, but I felt terrible for a couple of days when I came back.

Then I realized it’s like the sadness you feel when coming back from a really great holiday. Add a sprinkle of family on top and it makes the feelings stronger.

Still the only thing I yearn for is an orange warburtons loaf, been here 9 months and I can’t find anything even close.

  13. Thought I’d chime in here. Been here since April and my fico is 711.

    Steps I took.

    1. Added onto partners Amex shortly after I got my ssn

    2. Put $500 into a discover secured card (became unsecured in oct with a $2500 credit line increase)

    3. Applied and was approved for a Target Store card, was approved with an initial credit line of $500. I need to start using it more to increase the limit.

I expect my fico to be in great shape by the end of next year, hopefully up to 750. The length of credit certainly has an impact, think it’s 15% of overall score.

  14. Same thing happened with me in February. I was flying with United business, called ahead, took one guitar on the plane in the overhead, one guitar went into my checked, it was a strat so I took the neck off, and put the neck into a plastic waste pipe and filled it with packing peanuts. The body I just wrapped in clothes. My third guitar went with ups, got a box from eBay, massive amounts of polystyrene , foam and peanuts, arrived all good.

bass guitar might be tricky though because of the size. If I were you I’d dump the soft cases take off the necks and handle them as 2 pieces.

  15. Who cares about this policy, it only affects poor people.

Poor people don’t deserve to be with their loved ones anyway. Poor people shouldn’t have the right to a family life if they can’t afford it.

My taxes shouldn’t be going to help those less fortunate. I’m sure glad that half my taxes go on defense and fixing the darn PA roads!

More barriers and blockades on the poor please!

  16. The job in the Cinema although fantastic to get your own money and get out of the house, might be holding you back now.

I know when I didn't have a job I would check job sites every day, maybe send off 2 resumes or complete 2 applications a day. I said to myself if I haven't found a job relevant to where I worked in the UK that paid xxx salary in 6 months then I would take anything. I got super lucky and fell into a great job after 3 months.

As far as driving, did you drive in the UK? If you did you should feel like a driving expert over here. After you rewire your brain a bit to drive on the right its a scoosh. I certainly dont miss massive roundabouts from the UK and I think the signposts for lanes are also clearer here in the US. Like some weird junctions in the UK I wouldn't know what lane I should be in until I was at the junction.
