The RFE is asking for our marriage certificate- which is quite strange, given that we submitted it already with the original package but alright. They must have lost it so we will send another. No big deal. However, it came as a surprise that an RFE was sent so soon, especially considering the general timeline. It gets me slightly anxious as I feel we do not yet have enough proof of cohabitation (only bills, insurance and an affidavit from MIL who lives with us is what we have so far, having issues with the bank account) and I would like to know what the general experiences are when it comes to RFE to interview timelines.

This was most likely not RFE but "RFIE" Request for Initial evidence. The intake process for I-485 appears to be quite different from I-129F you are familiar with. In order to streamline application processing, they have contractors that open up your package very soon after it is received (about a month or so) those contractors are NOT USCIS officers, and in fact might not be even directly employed by USCIS, instead they have a very specific checklist of things they are suppose to validate in your package, and answer about 100 or so "Yes/No" questions accordingly. If they answer does not match what computer expects, the RFIE is generated. All that happens before USCIS officers ever takes a look at your form, which likely won't happen until it is transferred to your local field office.
    Checklist Example here (tiny exert)

first of all, thanks everyone for the comments.  I work remotely from home and so I am doing this from the Arctic Ocean in northern Alaska. so I had her send me "everything" they gave her at the embassy and low & behold, she just send me blank DS-3025 form that is checked at the bottom which says image.png.fdc2c657e2d98e0a12a4f366a818a77e.png

It would have been nice to have known that before I even posted this.  Now it looks like I will need to reschedule the 485 interview because I am sure I will not get into a doctors office in time.

Thanks again...all of you are awesome!

Share the rest of the DS-3025 if possible. We went though the similar process recently, and yes for reason unbeknownst to me in Kyiv they like not check the "electing not to be vaccinated" box for K-1 applicants unless you specifically insist on completing the vaccination. Still, assuming she brought her vaccination records to medicom, they should transcribe them. Unfortunately recently there were Ukrainian wide shortage of measles vaccine (they do not use single shot MMR as far as I know)
You might be able to find a local civil surgeon who will only file Part 10 of I-693 for reasonable fee, if that is needed, but good luck finding one. In our experience, most Civil Surgeons are not familiar with K-1 process at all and insist on doing the whole thing and charging accordingly.

We also want EAD and AP more than the green card at this point. My wife has been here since February and cannot work, drive or have a bank account. This should be illegal. She is not a prisoner. Russia is better than this #######.

We filed couple months before you, so if they are processing EADs in order,  you might be getting your approval in a bit less than 2 months, assuming things do not change. Seems like you had a bit of a delay between PoE and submitting actual AoS :(

They do need better system for EAD approvals for K-1. At least you don't have to worry about Oct 15 changes.

  4. I can't help but think that cries of "voter suppression" is a bit of analogue to "illegals and non-citizens voting" Both of those things do happen, rarely, but not in statistically significant amount to swing things one way or the other.
Regardless, as far as I know every absentee ballots and vote by mail things exist, so there should be minimal amount of excuses to not vote. Though, to be honest having election date be a federally mandated national holiday would make a heck of a lot sense.

Interesting, you could say the same thing about gun control and a potential leftist despotic government.

Yes, it is one of the problems of living in high density cities where people have to congregate and interact with each other. The issue with gun doesn't come from individual B having a bit of an arsenal on their private property that they use for .... whatever .. gun range, maybe some hunting, blowing watermelons, regardless. It is all good fun. The issues arises when guns become so common and prevalent they start affecting society as a whole, including people who made their own personal choice of nothing to do with guns at all. If every gun owner and seller were perfectly responsible, there would be no need for government interference, unfortunately, due to choices made, this is far from being the case. So now you have a need of jumpy, heavily armed, and questionable trained police force, with their own unaddressed psychological hang ups and preconceptions that lead to things like

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67TFsWLyd5I&t=42s

    (warning: disturbing video)
Technological solutions might be possible in the future with biometrically locked guns, in the mean time, much like with cigarettes, the society is getting to the point of enough is enough, which leads to business making a decision to curb gun and ammo sales, or put restrictions regardless of the local laws.

Can you see then why "the right to choose" is a fallacy?

The alternative is putting trust into Gileadic despotic government that "always knows best" Having facility to make choices doesn't say anything about those choices having to be right or correct either in short or long term. Even in society where unwanted child can be easily and trouble-free adopted upon birth with no financial burden being passed on to either of the bio-parents, three is still gestation toll that has to be paid solely by the physical body and brain of the child bearer. If they are unable or unwilling to pay it, a law forcing them always be subverted, often in unsafe ways. Until some point, presumably far into the future, when embryos can be safely extracted and gestate in vitro, that is not changing.

There are reports of Roman women using herbs to end pregnancies.

It is believed laserwort was made extinct by the Roman Empire thanks to its efficiency as abortifacient. Reducing, and with likely goal of elimination all non medically necessary abortions lies via slow societal change, not a misguided attempt to reverse and attempt to reverse a law.

No one has told you that you CANNOT ingest drugs or whatever else you want to put in your body.

It is fairly naive view. All government have control, direct or otherwise over the bodies of their subjects, and US is not an exception. Greater good and common good are common justification for the government types that require to justify, or at least pay lip service justification. You have things like iodine salt, fluoride water, vaccination (this is not a discussion on the merits of vaccination, so please do not take it into this direction!), seat belt laws, helmet laws, housing regulations, building hoses that apply to personal houses on "private" property, eminent domain laws, conscription laws etc etc, all of which adds up to yes government does have control, it just sometimes like to observe decorum and pretend they don't.

The interview notice doesn't say you should bring it, however I know that many people still bring i-485 (I am going to do the same, just in case) :)

The goal, for what ever you bring, is to not confuse yourself. They obviously have your signed I-485, and they with go through the questions there, specifically the disqualification questions "Are you now, or have you ever been member of Communist party?" and the likes. You need to know what is on your I-485, but I strongly suspect you will not have an opportunity to review it during the interview, or ever be asked about it. You will sign the original I-485 again most likely, to verify your answers to the questions there.

I don't know if it depends on the state, but when I went to the Florida DMV to renew my license with my greencard, they gave me an 8 year license

I think there is a difference between just "state id" and "Real ID" Real id means it satisfies certain federal requirements, and I think starting since 2021 those will be required to board an airplane. We have State ID that is good for 5 years or so, it does not have Real ID "star" in the corner though, and has text "Federal Limitations Apply"

Did they charge new fees during your recent DMV visit?

No. We paid "REAL ID" fee before, and were able to do behind the wheel test, but the card never arrived, she just had the little piece of paper, interim "licence" that would've expired in October. Now they reprinted interim once so it is good until November. No new pictures, no new fee. I expect that REAL ID will expire in 2 years when her GC expires which will be a source of another annoyance down the road cause they sure as heck do not approve I-751s in 3 months...

  12. Post green card mini update: Went to DMV and SSA office. SSA office DID NOT take SSN card away, but instead they asked to promise to shred it once the new SSN arrives without "authorization required" wording.

DMV said they will send out REAL ID card in couple of weeks as well, and in the mean time extended interim driving licence to mid November, which gives 8 weeks or so for them to issue actual card.

Will update the thread once we get either of those things. Pretty happy that they did not take away SSN.

started on the DS-160 today. It says somewhere that my fiancee has to sign this electronically.

Signs it by clicking button. She is suppose to be the one doing it. Once you submit it, you cannot go back to it. So make sure you have all the answers, as you will need them soon for AoS. (previous jobs, etc)
Technically you not suppose to do it for her. People set up things like teamviewer, or some other screen sharing sessions, so you can do it together usually. After you submit it, she will need to print out confirmation page. Do not lose track of the AA number for DS-160, especially since as you said she had other visits to US. Sometimes system bugs and would only show pages from old DS-160.

I so agree with this. I'm in SoCal and I need to sit tight because it could take up to 22 months. I'm definitely looking forward to the EAD instead.

The low date for I-485 is when 50% of the application are processed (doesn't mean approved) and I think upper is when 93% are approved. So yes, half of the people see approval before the first date.

He said he cannot find it in my file and that he does not know where it went. However, he wanted to double check to see if he might be able to find it.

Ah ok, thank you for clarifying. It is incredibly frustrating through really no fault of your own. I presume CBP collected sealed envelope from  you at point of entry? That is where it was suppose to be. I don't know if they check to make sure it is there though. Vaccination record is DS-3025 that you probably send to them with your I-485. The sealed packet suppose to have another copy of it but I doubt it they would have that, but not the rest of it. Hopefully they will be able to track it down soon!

I had my interview today and apparently my medical is missing (?).
I came here on a K1 and the officer said, that he is aware of that fact that it would technically be valid.

Some seemingly conflicting information here. Is it missing? E.g. CBP lost it after they collected it from you at Point of Entry? Or it is not missing but he thinks it is expired? Regardless, you will need to wait for them to either find it, and issue you are a card, or send you RFE with instructions on getting I-693. Which tend to be annoying and costly process, unless you are fortunate enough to find civil surgeon who isn't blood sucking tick.
