I wouldn't worry about a new Social Security Card yet. When immigration issues you a new 10 yr card, the name will be changed to maiden name. Then go to SSA and they will find your changed name in the database. Probably less hassle. When you're an immigrant they tend to have to use the name immigration has for you. You are married name until your ROC goes through. They might change it, you never know what the worker will do.

I love going to the Mall of Georgia there. I'm in the Toccoa area. I got my divorce court date coming up two weeks today so I got to wait a little until I receive my divorce waiver. Thank you so much for attaching the link, will definitely read through!

I'm live in Buford. They will interview or maybe not base on their policies since 2018. If they thought you're good they won't do that. If you have plenty to show them. Go ahead and do that.
This is the topics, everything is inside it will be good for you to file paper right now.

Really depends on the case and attorney since each immigration lawyer sometimes specialises in different fields like my last attorney who mostly did waivers even got mine approved , doubt anyone will give you an answer on price wise. Hopefully someone will advise you  on attorney in your area

Same type of evidence that's sent for the ROC without a divorce---joint bills, joint taxes, co-mingling of finances, etc.  All the stuff that's already been mentioned in this thread.
Just send evidence of a bonafide marriage before that marriage became broken down.

Thank you so much. Considering day after I talked to my husband about our marriage and us both settling on divorce he was signed up to an Adult FriendFinder site, I don't think he is that depressed and he seems already to be moving on too.

You can do it online here: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do

While it's true that you need to get it done within 10 days of moving, if you don't meet that deadline it shouldn't be a big deal. It wasn't an issue for my ex-husband when he filed for naturalization -- he had forgotten to do it when he moved out because I was responsible for all immigration things and since we weren't together any more... He only realized his mistake when he was filing for naturalization shortly after he moved out, and he took care of it immediately. He told me the delay was never mentioned at the interview. But he did blame me for not telling him he had to do it though!

I read your story in the other thread and I just want to pass on good thoughts to you. I had a terrible first marriage, lots of verbal and financial abuse, and what I now know is gaslighting. I also "moved on" more quickly than my ex was happy with, so be prepared that that could be an issue. Take your time with the new relationship and make sure it's what is good for *you* in the long run. ❤️

I don’t have to do ROC but I have been through a divorce so I have no immigration advice but please do take it slowly with the new flame. You haven’t been here long so you obviously haven’t been working there long. It’s very tempting during the final stages of an unhappy marriage to rush things with someone else. Maybe it’s the fear of loneliness. Maybe it’s establishing your own self-worth. The grass isn’t always greener.

I would also check your company’s policy regarding establishing a domestic relationship with a co-worker. I was surprised to see it was very much frowned upon where I work and can even cause one party to be moved to another department. I found this out because a co-worker recently resigned following her marriage to another co-worker. She was told she had to be moved to a role where there is no direct involvement with her wife and she didn’t want to do that so she resigned.

Yes. This happened with us liking each other the time me and my husband separated but we are not getting married any time soon as I want to do things the proper way and divorce my current husband. Obviously I was in love with my husband to leave my family behind to be with him and was happy around the time when I got my green card as we talked about plans for the future. However you are entitled to your own opinion and others are too on here. I can tell everyone until I am blue in the face that I didn’t marry just for a green card, which I didn’t, but I guess that makes no difference. Sorry I can’t be pure like everybody else who is perfect.

That’s your opinion.  On limited facts.  You’re free to express it, but the OP is looking for actual advice, not judgment.

Processing times for a green card aren’t as quick as they used to be, so it’s not like she’s only been married for 2 months.  Also, 2 people can enter a marriage with the best of intentions and have it fall apart  quickly, especially when it’s a marriage involving immigration.  My husband and I have struggled every day since I moved here with minor things (changes in living together), so for some people those struggles may be larger and of more significance.

Counseling or not, you still have to include other evidence that the marriage was entered into with good faith.  You’re going to want to send the items I mentioned above (banking statements, credit statements, tax transcripts, domicile documents).  When USCIS asks for proof of a bonafide relationship they mean “financial co-mingling”.  Showing an attempt at counseling can be helpful, but the financial/domicile proof is going to be what’s strongest and what is required.

Check the guides, and other topics under removal of conditions for a better idea.

Typically your window for ROC opens 90 days before the 2 year anniversary of your residency, but once the divorce is final, your window opens immediately, so you would include the divorce decree.  If it’s later in marriage (while ROC is pending, for example) you file during the regular window and then switch to a divorce waiver at the interview.

As a side note, you don’t have to do that. Your green card is proof of work authorization. I never updated my SS card after I got my GC. Only updated after I was naturalized.

It's not so much reapply. It's update your status with them. They will issue a new card  (same number) that does not have the restriction printed on it.

if you have your green card in hand you can go in and updated the SS number so that you get a card that does not say for work only on it.

You can apply for ROC within 90 days prior to the expiration of your conditional green card. Applying ealier than the 90 days mark will result in rejection.

Of course the process takes longer, currently ROC takes 15-18 months. However if you apply within your 90 days, you will receive an extension letter that extend your GC for 18 months. You can use the letter and the expired green card for travel etc...

Don't apply before the 90 days start or they'll return your whole package. The date you mentioned is fine.
From the stories and timelines here on VJ ROC is a long process right now (1-2 years processing times, where most people get approved after about 1,5 years), but as said before, you get an extension so you still hold your LPR status.

12 to 18 months or longer. Once you apply you get extension letter as a legal status before 10 year green card is approved.

I have been here over a year and got my approval for my AOS on Monday ☺️ I have been asked countless times what accent is that or where are you from. It was a bit difficult at first as some people here couldn't understand my British accent so I had to repeat myself!

Hey everyone. To update from mine and my husband's interview yesterday, we were approved! We went in around 1:30 as our appointment was at 2:00. Went through security and then the check in desk, where they took the original copy of the interview notice and asked us to proceed to the second floor, door number 2. We went to the second floor and sat in the front row by door 2 and kept an eye on the screen. At 2:18 the screen showed our ticket number, advising us to go to door 1. We waited for a few seconds and the Immigration Officer came out and asked us through, greeting us good afternoon and asking how we were. He showed us to his office and invited us to sit down. He asked for our ID's and we handed over our driving licenses, I had photocopies with me just in case. I had another photo taken and the fingerprints of my right and left index fingers. He then looked through our file and asked for our marriage certificate, I handed over both the original and the photocopy and he kept hold of the photocopy. I was then asked to confirm a few details, such as address and checking one of my signatures on the documents. The Officer went through the yes or no checklist questions, such as are you part of a terrorist group, have I ever claimed to be a US Citizen or a member of the Communist party etc. He then asked  how we met and I told him through Facebook back in October 2013, he then asked to see the wedding photo album we had and looked through it and asked where we had the wedding and my husband told him about Helen, an old fashioned German theme town that had a chapel by the river. The Officer seemed pleased with the album and probably got a few smiles out of some of the photos! He told us everything looks in order and that we are recommended for approval, he had me sign on one of the files under his signature and handed over the notice of interview results with a checked box next to ''Your application has been recommended for approval. A final decision will be mailed once your case is complete''. We thanked the Officer and my husband asked about the Officer's name, Bruce, stating we have come across it quite a number of times in the past and the Officer smiled and told us that Bruce meant thick brush and that his wife gets a kick out of that. We thanked him again and he blessed us. We were both so happy and relieved as I think I stressed way too much leading up to the interview, making sure everything in our (thick!) folder was in order. The Officer didn't look through it in the end but I always prefer to be over prepared!

Thank you and not a problem  I forgot one thing. When we were inside the office, the officer use a webcam to take my mugshot. I think that was right after fingerprinting me.
