    Airline employee here...

The name on your flight ticket must match your passport. We don’t care what’s on your green card, library card, Costco card, SSN card.

TSA don’t work for the airline and don’t have any say over who is admitted into the country. Their only focus is passenger and flight security.

There are two issues.  The airline letting you fly and CBP letting you back into the US.

The airlines want IDs to match the named flyer.  Use the name in your passport.

CBP will let you in with AP, your passport, and a copy of your marriage certificate.

TSA is nothing more than glorified mall cops.  You got an uninformed TSA agent.

USCIS just started working on September EAD/AP. and they're also still working on August, so it's normal you didn't hear anything yet. September filer myself, we hope to hear something mid February - mid March. Depending on you local office a GC interview can go as fast as a few months after filing to 12-33 months after filing. You can find the estimated processing times of your local office via https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/. Congrats in advance with your baby girl

    J❤️J reacted to K1visaHopeful in Where to send I765, I485, and I131
All together in one envelope, with each form and supporting documents for each form seperated in three seperate packets inside... to Chicago. USCIS will then ship off the different application packets to the appropriate service centre (much like your I129F was mailed to Texas but then sent to another service centre for processing).
Most commonly, the I765 and the I131 get processed at the National Benefits Centre (NBC) and the I485 will be sent to your local service centre in your state unless there is a backlog at your local SC and then it will be sent elsewhere for quicker processing.
It all gets mailed in together though and to Chicago for K1s.

I put cover pages on the I765 and I131 as well as they most likely be separated and sent to a different service location (the National Benefits Center) than your I485.

Have 3 different folders or  big envelope for your 3 different application. That would be easy to organize for you and for the officer that will handle your case. Have 3 cover letters for each. That's what I did.

For evidence of your current status, send a copy of your I-94 and a copy of your passport page that has your K1 visa.

You may or may not have the NOA1 in time, but USCIS goes by the date filed, not the date they put it into their system. So if it arrives before the 13th then you're fine (plus overstay is not a bar for AOS as the immediate relative of a USC).
  10. Thanks

Yes, a preclearance location can be a POE even if it is outside the US.

You were admitted as k1. That’s it.

I would check the form samples on vj, they have all of these on it.

You will probably get your SSN card in the mail sometime next week. On the AOS application just check the box that says you don't want to apply for one.

You can apply for SSN before AOS. It won't cause you any issues.

It has nothing to do with you. I did every single of these steps, and applied before marriage and name change but I still need to go through this too.
In my case , I am pretty sure it is because of my middle name not appearing on my I-94 was the problem.

I got mine in 3 weeks.

On the other hand you can check this verification status through USCIS SAVE case status check.
normally you can check it from here: (however, USCIS case checks are not working at the moment - for about 3 hours so far) so you can check later.
    https://www.uscis.gov/save/casecheck

checking this status won't make much difference because you cannot do anything with it, but at least you will know it is in process.

I just called and spoke to an agent. He said I can book an earlier date if I see one available. I wouldn't lose the one I have until finalize the changes. So to reiterate, I wouldn't have to drop my current one before while I start searching for another. I can keep the one I have now and swap it for a earlier one IF there is one available 😊

I booked through the green website, it was the direct link from Packet 4. For extra confirmation, you could always call the visa appointment agents. They are very friendly and helpful. They can verify in the system for you. I call the Montreal line (because I live in Montreal) but they have a different lines for most major Canadian cities. You'll need to provide alot of the K1 info so maybe best to gather all your info before calling

There are alot of Canadians who visit their fiance(e)s in the US after submitting the DS160. As long as the Canadian can prove he/she has ties to Canada (letter from employer stating they are taking vacation and will be back at work on Day Month Year, have a roundtrip ticket, packing light, have K1 related documents with them) they usually go through without issue. The people who encounter issues are those who quit their jobs or are currently unemployed, have no paperwork to show ties in Canada (leases, etc), purchased a one way ticket or are going across with a wedding dress, goodbye letters from friends and family, a u-Haul full of personal belongings, etc. The border security are especially suspicious of these people because it really looks like they are moving to the US and not visiting. There's a show on TV called Border Security (reality show) that explores this type of situation over and over.   They'll catch people crossing over who are travelling with all of their belongings and are trying to convince the border agent they are going just for a week. Ummm, no.  My fiance and I have crossed over the border together when he was going to University in Canada. I flew from Montreal to NJ and we drove back up together. We were driving in a  vehicle with European shipping plates as the military shipped his car over(so no state plates). This isn't relevant to the story but I just included it as it was the reason we spent so much time inside the border offices. We dealt alot with border security on both sides is what I'm trying to say here. Something that helped us alot is we called the border crossing ahead of time ( Lacolle in our case), explained our situation, asked which types of documents they required and got the agents information/badge number. You don't have to do this but it did help us. You could even go ask one of the border agents at Trudeau airport or call them.  If you are flying out of Montreal directly to the US, you would clear customs here in Montreal so if for any reason they said no, you would know right here at the airport. Honestly if you're flying and staying for a short period of time, have a letter from work, roundtrip ticket, are honest with the agents and can prove you're coming back, you shouldn't encounter an issue. Another option is to have your fiance come visit you here. My fiance was here last week in Montreal for our friend's wedding so it worked out perfectly! Hope this helps you! ☺️

This is a question for people who have passed their interview and are travelling over to the US in the near future.... Did you purchase health insurance to use as a backup until you get married and fall under your spouse's plan? If so, any recommendations for  insurers?

Not that I know of. They didn't ask me about wedding plans. Mostly international travel together, my fiance's career in the military and his job now with the Federal government. They asked about how we met, the places we've travelled together, where we've lived together. I think every question is geared to the interviewee. I could hear alot of people say 'ive never travelled anywhere' so obviously their line of questioning would be different

He did. His appointment was at 1:15pm, so maybe he just got lucky on it being quieter than morning appointments. He did have the vaccination sheet filled out in advance by his normal doctor and also picked up a copy of his public health record with all of his childhood vaccinations beforehand, so had had both of those along with the other documents ready to go.
