Am a bit shocked of the arrogance of some people here. Indeed the stress caused by the immigration process is incredible. Not everyone can handle that and not every relationship/marriage survives. Just to say smth like they didn't love each other enough shows lack of empathy and humility. I agree to comments before that you only know what you are facing once you are in it. There is nothing that can prepare you for the emotions you are going through. The pain, anxiety, loneliness can be more than overwhelming especially paired with the uncertain timeframe of immigration. I am glad I am from an Esta country and was atleast able to visit a couple of times. No idea how relationships survive for a year without seeing each others in person. I am sure the number of relationships together with raise of depressions regards the immigration process isn't small. Unfortunately there is no statistic for that.

Echel0n got a reaction from Eliza19 in I haven't submitted 2017's taxes, will this complicate immigration?
As a german here a typical german advice. Don't be cheap on your insurances or it will bite you in the ###. Germans usually pay about 40-50% of their income for social security, various insurances and taxes. And we have one of the best social/health systems in the world. As my preposters said - 1 accident or 1 severe infection and you are bancrupt in US without good insurance. People love to complain about Obamacare - but from my perspective it's the first step in the right direction. Might be not perfect but still. We used the online version of TurboTax and it was no problem at all since I have a SSN already - however I think it gave you the option to leave it empty. You definitely should file asap to avoid delays and trouble. Good luck!

I read you don't need wet ink anymore. Additionally they didn't want to see a copy during my cr1 interview anyhow. Don't think it will be an issue. Calm down and stay sane.

    One example here:

Echel0n got a reaction from TM92 in Is it possible to marry on a J-1?
Yep if you have no intent it's legal but seriously... take me as an example I married on a J1. But i left the country afterwards and applied for CR1. You might ask why? For exactly the reason I got my J1. I had ties I had to organize/cut loose before. So basically you only get a J1 if you have good reason to return to your country. Your question already shows you don't have such. Bad chances for J1

So you both have no intention to stay longer in US in the near future? Then the spouse visa makes no sense since you have no intention to immigrate at all. You need a tourist visa and to show them strong ties to your home country. Good luck

No - every case is different. Its impossible to say as the posters before said. Mine took about 7 month for approval. I wasn't the first approval with that priority date and there are still people waiting with it (9-10 month now). So basically expect the worst, stay calm sane and patient 😞 nothing else we can say. It will be a long and annoying waiting for sure unfortunately.

Echel0n got a reaction from IzzieLove in Ghana CR1
Well not sure about your case since it is Ghana and a high fraud country. But to give you a comparison - I was in the US for "only" half a year and married my wife without a church ceremony. Only my stepkids were present and neither parents or siblings of us. I bought the ring actually even after the wedding. We had no classical wedding dress etc. I just told my parents afterwards that I married. It was a marriage/wedding out of love and not to impress someone. USCIS approved it without problems. So i think the actual ceremony etc isn't important. But i would and we did write a letter explaining every thing. How you met, when how often and what led to the wedding etc.

Echel0n got a reaction from eckoin in "Ready to be scheduled for interview" - any insight to what this means?
Well to my understanding it's a similar thing as it is for the USCIS step. First there are different consulates with different schedules. Second there are totally different cases coming in, some simple and some complicated. They atleast need to review your files to send you the letter telling you what documents you should bring to the interview and lastly there are many different people involved. If the one working on your case is sick or similar it can delay the process. That's atleast my unimportant understanding. So it sucks if you are one of the slow cases but all you can do is stay patient and sane.
Just reread it's aos so forget the consulates but still the process and problem is the same

Don't wait. Start with these links especially Hank's website.

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get done. To smooth that trail for you I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

    http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

    https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

Echel0n got a reaction from Uk2usa2016 in How to know documents were submitted to NVC
Check again all documents. For me it popped up I have to upload documents for a former visa I had. It was shown under all the necessary documents. Sometimes it also just needs a couple of days until someone from NVC approves it and clicks a button. That also was the case for me 😅

Your lawyer should know or maybe you know from the emails/messages he sent you. NOA1=USCIS sends you a letter shortly you sent them the application, NOA2=USCIS approves your application and sends it to NVC. You also get a letter or message about that. You can use your uscis case number and check the status online. It should give you the NOA2 date.

They should not. However, if someone filed against her it's possible. How about just paying off these debts? Or atleast finding a settlement to pay it off on monthly basis? Usually they prefer to get the money sone day then never and atleast a bit than nothing.
