I certainly feel for your situation, and it must be very hard to deal with.  In some states, domestic violence can be a felony.
I have seen people arrested for domestic violence for shouting,  or not being allowed to use the phone to call police.  If you call police, be sure to get a restraining order as he may not be too happy getting arrested.  On the i-129 it asks about domestic violence etc.  If he gets arrested it may bar him from that 2nd GC and kicked out.  I agree with others here, it would not be wise to be alone with him once you get the ball rolling.  Always have a witness!

Highmystic got a reaction from Irisandjoel in EAD expedite request, when to expect a response?
If you haven't signed up with USPS you should.  Simple account, and you then get "informed delivery" which is an email with scanned images of all your 1st class mail (and some junk mail).  What is nice about that is that you KNOW you are supposed to get some letter, and if it is not in your mail box that day, give it a day or two and if you still did not get it, you can file a complaint or contact the sender that you did not get that piece of mail.  Bottom line, if you don't know what is "supposed" to be delivered, you won't know if it got lost and undelivered.

Notice of Apt for Biometrics    3 to 5 weeks
Biometrics appt.                           5 to 8 weeks
    EAD                                                   12 to 16 weeks

Hi, I am from Cebu and was at CFO late December 2017. I have enrolled on line prior to that. Arrived in the building past 8 am and it wasn't that bad. I had listed my name at the security guard`s book and was one of the first ten to attend the seminar. Arriving there at 10 would not be bad coz the attendees will be called one by one to the room to fill up a form and be interviewed before the actual seminar. Please let her go on line for the class timing.

When the term "biological" (instead of "biology"), is lumped in  with the rest,  I think they are fishing to see if you could be a potential terrorist.  They seem to NOT be asking about experience in health related skills for biology,  given the choices in the 3nd question, it all fits. Is you Master's "Specialized Training"?  I assume they want to know if you can weaponize  biological matter.  If you can not, with your degree, then perhaps No.

The US really does not have "provinces", that's Canada, etc.  Sounds like you have not moved far enough out of the big cities.  You say you have been here for 8 years and still in a poverty situation?  Move to a more conservative state. Go to a town with less than 50,000 population where everyone has guns.  Guns make for friendly neighbors.

    1.  "Your rent buys your neighbors."  This goes for motel rooms and places of permanent residence.
    2.  If we're unhappy about a situation, there are two paths:  change the situation, or remove ourselves from it.

Bad location I guess.  where I live, you can rent a studio motel at about $600 a month (paid $150 a week).  You CAN get a SS card once you are married and show your certificate.  Another option  would be to rent though  Air B@B or something, they are used to foreigners.  I have to wonder though, what you immigration status was at the time, and had you not had a sponsor who is financially responsible for your welfare?

Can your husband postpone his exam for a couple more months?  One thing. If he leaves the country without at least his AP in hand, he will not be able to re-enter US and you guys will have to start all again but this time with a spouse visa.

PS: I just read that you did not file AOS yet. I would file it ASAP. Include AP.

Don't be misled by the word "Rapid" in the name "RapidVisa". Filing through Rapidvisa does not speed up the process in any way, shape or form. If anything, it goes a little slower because you are adding an extra step to the process.

The only thing guaranteed to be Rapid by them is your credit card being charged rapidly.

Forgot to add the other comment.  If you are supporting two brothers, are they deductible as dependants on taxes?  Keep in mind the Affidavit of Support asks how many you support on your income, and for each extra person, you have to account for more over the 125 percent.

Highmystic got a reaction from JayHouser in Tax Questions
this should help you in your calculations.  "Annual income" is income "before" deductions.  But yes, if you grossed in business 60K and had 50K in expenses, it would leave you with 10K of "taxable gross income", which is way too low.  I do it different.  I am the sole owner of the LLC, so I pay myself a good CEO Bonus so the business taxes are low, but my personal income is a pain at times!  Good luck to you!

Example: Mike is immigrating his wife and is filing an I-864. It is Oct. 31, 2016 and you are assisting him in calculating his current income for Part 6. Mike was unemployed for the first six months of 2016, but started working at a job on July 1 that pays an annual salary of $48,000. He is not anticipating earning any additional income and he is planning on working for this employer indefinitely. Mike’s current individual annual income is $24,000 (not $48,000) because that is the amount of income he is anticipating earning in 2016.
Similarly, if the sponsor will be relying on the income of the intending immigrant or other household members, it is their current income that will be listed on the Form I-864 and I-864A. This is the amount of income they plan to earn for the calendar year in which the affidavit of support is filed.
The sponsor cannot count income from prospective employment or employment “that has not yet actually begun.” 8 CFR § 213a.1. The regulation stresses that it is the “reasonably expected household income” that shall be given the “greatest evidentiary weight.” 8 CFR § 213a.2(c)(2)(ii)(C). Tax returns or other documentation will serve merely as evidence of the likelihood that the sponsor will be able to maintain this income in the future.
The sponsor does not have to be employed. The Form I-864 requires the sponsor to state whether he or she is employed, self-employed, retired or unemployed.
The State Department interprets “income” for purposes of the affidavit of support to be “total unadjusted income as shown on the tax return, before deductions.” Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM) 40.41 N5.5. Income includes salary and any monetary gains from any source, including the following:
Interest income and dividends Alimony Child support Retirement benefits Rent Unemployment compensation Workers’ compensation or other similar benefits, and Any other benefits that the sponsor has received that must be included as taxable income. https://cliniclegal.org/resources/calculating-income-affidavit-support

If she wants her married name to be her legal name (and it sounds like she does), file AOS with her married name, and list her maiden name under 'other names used'.
If she files under her maiden name, she'll receive a GC in her maiden name. Changing it is expensive.
With the marriage certificate, she is legally entitled to using her married name.

Someone from the Philippines should weigh in about changing legal name there.

I actually filed everything in my maiden name since it's a hassle to change names. My SSN uses my maiden name, as well as my Green card. Socially I hyphenate with my husband's name. In my Dutch passport, I now have an annotation that says 'spouse of [husband's last name]'. However, in the Netherlands it's pretty much impossible to legally change your name.

Yup, 1 year ban is the typical result for somebody who has recently used pot. They may require testing during and/or after that period to ensure he remains clean.

Won't really matter as they will ask about drug use anyway. Plus there can be physical signs of past usage, like in Jamaica I've been told they will check your hands since many people "grind" it in their hands and it leaves marks as a result (oh, the things you learn on VJ...).

Some states have legalized it, either for recreational use or medicinal use.  A word to the wise...   Since his interview and medical is by and for "federal" and not state,   pot may be in issue.  "Federal" law it is illegal.  I have read articles recently where Canadians (where it is normally legal) and entering a State in the US where it is legal,  was question by Federal Immigration if "they ever smoked marijuana... a yes answer (although legal in Canada and the state they are going to) was denied entry in to the US (where as a whole, it illegal).  Unless they do a hair test,  he should not partake and clean up for a urine test.

Yes, the immigration view on marijuana is that it is illegal and serious enough to cause a one year ban.   No one has mentioned getting a free pass.
