Derik-Lina reacted to pushbrk in Worried about wedding size
Evidence of a bona fide marriage is about the relationship, not the party. If you deviated from local tradition in other ways as well, be more concerned about that. For example, if the bride is significantly older than the groom, particularly a divorced bride with children or too old to bear children marries a younger man in that culture, it's a far bigger red flag than the size of the wedding or party.

I don t see why not. One would think and believe the Consulate would rather see you as the sole sponsor.
If anything it should be a stronger addition to your case and he should get that Visa pronto;
November and December fly thru due to the many holidays … Congats

Hello,
Thank you so much. We started our process December 5, 2017. We got the interview letter October 12th. So a little over 10 months. His interview appointment is November 29th. So just shy of one year from beginning to end.

The good news is that they kept your spouse's passport; They intend to stamp a visa.
Logically, your 2018 Taxes should solve it for you. I believe you can file as early as mid January.
It would have been ideal to have your spouse join you now, but look at the bright side here;
No refusal and they kept his passport. Only a question of time.

"her family was pressuring her to marry him because she was out of status"
She married to adjust status; it is not a bona fide marriage.

Derik-Lina reacted to debbiedoo in Help would be appreciated.
offering credit to customers is fine. accepting food stamps for payment of such, is not. i dont own a store and i know this. I am positive he was provided guidelines on foodstamps and their use and remittance when he got the permit to accept them. It was up to him to learn and FOLLOW those rules.
depending on how the business is set up, it will go against the business and not him personally.
he will likely lose the right to accept food stamps at all.
ignorance of the law is no excuse for not following the law.

Derik-Lina got a reaction from Jeanne Adil in Is meeting once is enough for filing for k1 visa?
Sad but very true.
Many have divorced the USC "love of their life" on the very day of GC delivery.

You have never met in person?
You have known each other for 5 months only?
You will spend only 9 days together in 2019?
You will engage when she visits for the first time?

Morocco is a high fraud country where men harvest dating websites for women they can railroad into a quick visa. So...you may want to have your case not look like exactly like that.

Derik-Lina reacted to Jeanne Adil in Income test under Trump proposal places tougher hurdles for families to get green cards
Me too
and i know of a woman who has made 3 trips to marry and is living in section 8 housing
took her 7 years to get the spouse here
but she did
he works
she doesn't but he is now supporting all of her kids
this is the cosponsor stuff that bothers me/ this shouldn't happen / a person already living on welfare should not be able to do this
not the ones of you who are fresh our of college or with a new job for another reason

Before I write anything, let me assure you that Trumps gets and will always get what Trump has wanted, from Presidency to 460 Billion Dollars from the Saudis. He might not always get 100 % of he is after, but he gets a nice chunk. That said, this income guidelines, government benefits and sponsorships must be revised. My mother and now my siblings have never ever gotten a penny from the government nor from anyone. This is the land where work is available. One can have two and three jobs. And for someone to get on Government assistance of any sort, while working under the table and sucking us all dry, they ought to go to jail, let alone deported. I have seen recent Immigrants park their BMW s and Merceidez and use Foodstamps at the grocery store while in brand-name clothes; DISGUSTING. To make matters even worse, I d hear them complaining about our government. Yes, I heard them; I am fluent in 6 languages. I have confronted some in the past, but have kept my mouth shut recently as I have grown up to realize nothing ever changes. As for Sponsorship, I am sorry to say this, but if you are jobless with 4 kids and live with your Mom, you have no business bringing anyone to Marry. Marry here and get a job. I am sorry to have sounded harsh, but I become furious when I see people with 2 and 3 co-sponsors fly thru the system as I wait forever. I have worked and paid taxes for the last 30 some years. I make enough to support three families, but yet, my wife and I must wait and wait and even wait more just because we happened to be from the wrong part of the world. I hope I did not offend anyone, but I felt I had to share as this is something that has bothered me forever.

I, myself, am against the cosponsor
you need to be able to functin totally as a family unit with your spouse
depending on others for financial support or living space also causes stress in the relationship
when getting into this process the USC should know all that is involved (travel expenses, fees, cultures, family values / just everything)
if you can't afford it, don't do it

You are not describing a "change" of policy. Low income petitioners bringing younger male spouses from Morocco is not just a public charge concern. It's an even bigger indicator of possible marriage/immigration fraud. Often the answer to "How can you afford to travel if you need a joint sponsor?" is because the foreign spouse is the one footing the bill PRIMARILY in order to get an immigration benefit.
That's why visa issue is ALWAYS a judgment call on the whole case, not just the public charge issue. Get familiar with the concept of "Totality of Circumstances".

Derik-Lina got a reaction from Apple Bee in Stuck in NVC
The USCIS, NVC and Consulate must do a thorough study of who is granted a a Visa to enter the US. Extreme vetting is also necessary to ensure no "Bad Hombres" penetrate and cause us harm. It is totally understandable. However, there must be a much better system to allow Families to unite or reunite in much lesser periods of time. IMO Married Couples must be a Priority before any Visa out there. Also, the extreme Vetting and AP must have some guidelines and not just given to be given. I have read horror stories where Spouses have been waiting 15 months and even more after they were told "Visa approved" and will be stamped within just weeks. What makes matters even worse, no one knows anything at all. Again, I can totally understand if a Visa Applicant has lived in certain Hostile territories or have had contact with certain bad elements, but to hold people's lives months and years back, without logical explanations, is inhumane and Cruel. Just my two cents here.

Derik-Lina reacted to Jeanne Adil in Interview date....and medical
2 weeks is good enough
if you are concerned with any issues for medical, go to a dr and do a medical now
example - a spot on the lung could indicate TB starting and there is treatment
could be treated before doing the immigration medical
BTW when is the interview
and congratutions on finally getting it

Count your blessings. You can get an interview date anytime now.
Our PD is October, 3rd of 2017 and still no CC. I submitted everything
to NVC CEAC almost a month ago. It is extremely stressful and painful.

Derik-Lina reacted to Jeanne Adil in Immigration wait destroys marriages?
If we can survice a 6 year visa process, then any real relationship can
and if the wait caused a divorce, the marriage was domed anyway
there will be bigger stressers to come after getting together in the US

Derik-Lina reacted to Uoas in Stuck in NVC
You can always call NVC and ask about your case etc. I’m not sure if it will help but I’ve called NVC a couple times and they usually provide a good explanation. I hope you hear back soon for a CC! It does seem like a longer time than normal 😕
