I did an inquiry online last week and just got a generic response "Our records show that your N-600, Application for Certificate of Citizenship, is currently pending adjudication. We regret that we are unable to provide you with a completion date at this time. Once a decision is made you will be contacted. We apologize for the delay."  If I were you I would try calling your US Senate office and see if they can help.

If you are a legal permanent resident in the US but follow your spouse on their military orders/ under SOFA, you are still considered residing stateside despite being Oconus.

We were going through the process in Frankfurt and they are very responsive to inquiries.

The US General Consulate in Frankfurt does indeed issue I-551s (Greencards) for dependents of active military members. It would definitely not fall into the jurisdiction of Germany as military members stationed in Germany are not accounted for. They are not registered, international students or about to hold jobs on the economy etc (all required for residency). Hence, spouse wants indeed join OP on US base (which one could argue is US territory)?

I'm sure there are lots of people waiting on the N-600. In my area it was supposed to take just 3 1/2 months but it has been 7 months already. One daughter they reused her biometrics but the other we had to have new one done.

R&OC reacted to Jason and May in Big fight, husband crossed a line
The psychotherapist in me always creeps in on these types of questions.

In a normal back and forth, people give advice all the time. And you asked for advice. In large part, though, none of us really know the dynamics of the relationship between you and and your husband. Inasmuch, that would take several conversations to really understand and conceptualize. A couple members asked some very good, open ended, and nonjudgmental questions. Which is lovely to see.

It looks like you came to a decision on your own, after some time had passed. Which is also lovely to see.

Typically, during a fight, given the escalation, certain areas of our brain fire and others shut down. Generally speaking, the parts that light up and work the fastest are subcortical: that is, not rational, intended to protect...flight, fight, faint, freeze...etc. And, many times, people do say things designed to hurt. Really, what they are doing is projecting. And each of you are also mirroring each other's neuronal firing sequences, body language...tempers. Or, the opposite, one person is introjecting those things...shutting down, turning inward. Ego states are remarkable.

I'm glad you found an answer to your questions not just about flying out of the country, but also what to do in your relationship.

Not knowing anything about your relationship, I will refrain from providing any advice, because it could be entirely misleading in any direction.

I would say, though, if you find yourself experiencing this type of argument or treatment as more than a one-off bad day, it's worth talking to someone who is a professional in this arena, such as a therapist or even a life coach (although life coaching is largely unregulated throughout the United States).

    Warmest wishes,

    Jason

In addition to what CrazyCat wonderfully explained and I entirely agree: You could both pursue a proxy marriage for which you do not have to be physically present OR just fly back for two weeks and have an impromptu civil wedding. It would allow you to get started on the immigration journey.

One could always have a bigger celebration sometimes later.

I would think from reading that statement ,  you are not thinking to save this marriage or the best interest of your wife

Many are very homesick when they arrive,  and it makes it hard to adjust
Have u tried to introduce her to a nearby community of immigrants from her country?
have u offered to see a marriage consular?
Are the 2 of u still in love or has it passed?
Have u offered to buy a ticket so she can return?
Do u want to pay out for the AOS and be responsible for the I 864 for 10 years or till she is a citizen?

u do not need to answer but consider the questions

You know it funny when you look at processing times for the N600 it ranges from 3.5 months in one city to 3 years in another city. That is a crazy difference in time. How fast you get your proof of citizenship should't depend on what city you live in.  At the bare minimum it shouldn't be a 2 1/2 year difference.

You are getting good "personal advice" which you probably don't need and certainly didn't ask for.  For a spouse visa, the only petitioner criminal record that would be problematic is one that falls under the Adam Walsh Act.  IMBRA, which requires disclosure of criminal records, applies only to K1 fiancée visa petitions.

Yes, USCIS will be able to see this record, but you will not hear from them about it.

The WorldBank is, as far as I know, not an US government civilian post overseas. I would ask the WorldBank HR department. They should probably now and verify whether or not this can be seen as a military/GS order. I know foreign service would qualify.

Does the diplomatic posting abroad comment refer to the U.S. State Department? Can anyone chime in if that is presumably "qualifying employment abroad" to count as not breaking U.S. residency?

That all sounds sufficient.  If you drafted wills, powers of attorney, or similar estate documents, those are excellent evidence.  Whether you did or didn't, be sure to revise or draft your own such documents as soon as the divorce is final.

Single intent visas are non-immigrant visas that do not allow immigrant intent while dual intent visas do.

For example, someone applying for a B-2 or F-1 visa must demonstrate that they have ties to their home country and will return there at the end of their stay in the US. Someone applying for an H-1B visa does not need to meet those requirements as it is a dual intent visa. K-1 visas are a bit unusual because they are technically non-immigrant visas but their sole purpose is for immigrating to the US, so they are technically dual intent.

Congrats and I hope these trends continue. It wouldn’t be the worst thing if K-1 became viable.

I do think spouse based AOS from single intent non immigrant status should be lower priority than from dual intent status like K-1.

Daphne, I really appreciate your answer. I felt the same at some point - and happy to return to Europe after years of living in the US. However, found out soon enough that I didn't really fit into the typical German life anymore. Its like a cuckoo who fell out of the nest. At least that was my experience.

I am, today, a very happy dual citizen of Germany and the US.

Should be San Diego I expect.  Processing times are around 12 months for the N600, so it looks like they should be processed soon.

    Good Luck!
