About the tampo thing and just advice in general. People in your life will only do what you allow them to do. This goes for any relationship. Think hard about that one. There is definitely a difference between cultures and there are things that you will have to either accept, or make them deal breakers. You need to set boundaries early on and stand firm on them. There is so much more I could say about this but it could probably be taken the wrong way and I would be labeled a sexist pig in this politically correct era we live in
 
What I will say is try to learn and understand male/female relationships in the Philippines and the dynamics of their roles.That may be difficult because you said you have no Filipino friends. But knowing that would give you great insight.

I am very well aware of the history, thank you. It does not change my opinion that it was warranted in this case. When you have rebel factions kidnapping and murdering citizens you must take action. When close to half of those rebels are invaders from foreign countries even more so. Neither one of us know the future so I guess we will need to see how it plays out. I will b e there for close to a month in August and I am not worried at all.In fact I feel I will be safer this visit than any visit in the past.

Second, I advise you don't get too worried over what she claimed to do with the police and photo. You would have gotten some notice if the police had taken it even remotely seriously.....they can tell that a red spot from watery, allergy eyes isn't the same as being given a punch in the eye. 
 
Change your locks, notify your landlord she is gone, file for divorce immediately and NEVER EVER be alone with her, if she needs to come get stuff have the cops escort her in to get it as protection for yourself. Keep that proof you have about the eye thing and anything else you may have. REMOVE HER from your bank accounts and credit cards! If she gets froggy, you can always get a protective order but lets hope it doesn't come to this.
 
And as always, notify USCIS by infopass asap.

please stay far away.  My ex too genuinely has a core heartvof gold - he will give away what he has to help people - even today 8 years after divorce he could 'kill' someone who hurts me... and yet till today he continues to destroy us all.
 
If he has punched your face, says what he does ( its part of weakening their victims) can sweet talk anybody that's a terribly dangerous person.  F it that he may be good at heart.  Your child is better off without him.

I hear on the radio at least once a week how LA is doing everything it can to "save" criminals from being deported. Insanity, but that's LA for you. Doesn't seem to matter what kind of crime they committed either, it's anything from robbery to rape.

Sanctuary city doesn't necessarily apply here.
A city being a sanctuary city doesn't mean that people under deportation proceedings will not be deported, it just means (usually) that city/state police will not detain a person if the only reason to hold them is that Immigration wants them.
This is not the case here. OP's hopefully soon to be ex-husband has committed arrestable offences, and is detainable because of them. Besides, violent offences have always been reason for deportation - one of the reasons for deportation, frankly, that pretty much everybody agrees with.
 
As for your heartache, Xosorry, I feel for you. It is hard to come to terms with the fact that you were fooled by an abuser. It makes a person feel like they've been stupid and it makes them feel ashamed and weak, or like you've failed. You haven't. You're not a therapist or a psychiatrist or a miracle worker, and you can't fix him. You can only save yourself.
You are not weak, and you haven't failed. You are one of the strong ones who has stood up for yourself and your child's safety and emotional health. Many don't, and the abuse continues and often escalates. You are saving your child from growing up in a home where her dad abuses her mom, and/or abuses her. You were strong enough to prove that you (her model for the kind of relationship women deserve) deserve better. You need to be proud of that strength. You aren't your husband's caregiver or his savior. You are being those things for your daughter.

Besides, she could have left you long before if she was only looking for green card or US citizenship. She could also have not had children. People that are only interested in getting status disappear the moment they don't need the other person and I doubt they have children.

As already recommended you should get this fixed, and it won't be easy.  OR...  you can use the BC and name you have always used, but as noted you will never be able to petition your actual mother or father.    Ahhh .. the crazy things people do with birth certificates in the Philippines.
 
Do you have a passport?  If so, what name is on the passport?  That is your "official" name and you should use the birth certificate that supports that name.
