Does anyone know how uscis is set up? Is it certain officers assigned to certain visas? If so, will we know who was affected by the furlough?

(Please no harsh comments. Mental health is really down because of all of this. Just trying to find some kind of hope or at least broaden my knowledge.)

Because the application is a general application whether someone is applying based on 3 years or if they have been in the US 20 years.

I don’t believe so. The public charge rule is if you apply for a benefit but in this case we’re not applying for anything just submitting our tax returns as normal and they automatically send it.

Nope.  It is not considered as a part of public charge consideration.

I renewed my driver's license with the extension letter last week without hassles. The card came through the mail today only to find out the DMV only gave me a 12-month renewal instead of the 18 months stated in my I-751 extension letter.

I am not sure if i should go back and have this corrected or just let it go.

Just got my acceptance text as well, rooted to Vermont Service Center.
Truth be told I was hoping NBC since it seems to be processing applications that don’t need an interview within 6-9 months, but in all reality it doesn’t matter.

I'm from Orlando and I know for sure that one of my friend did renew his Drivers license with the extension letter without any issues. You can also get a endorsement of the extension letter from the local immigration office on your passport showing your validity to stay and work.I am positive you would not have a problem.

I renewed my drivers license with my extension letter last friday! It was absolutely no problem at all. All they needed was my old drivers license (that expires next month), my green card, the extension letter, my SSN card and a bank statement in my name sent to our address, to prove residency. The lady who was helping me simply had to make a call somewhere, but that's it. Getting my new drivers license in the mail within the next 2 weeks

Edit: I just remembered the lady telling me that the day before they had another person coming in, also renewing their drivers license with a Green Card extension letter. I don't know if that was the reason why it went so smooth for me - because they knew the process then - but long story short it shouldn't be a problem!

You can apply for citizenship 90 days before you hit your 3-year permanent residency mark. If the I-751 is still under processing, it gets bumped up when your N-400 is being processed as the I-751 has to be adjudicated before USCIS can move further with the N-400 processing.

It's amazing to find people on here who have brought spouses and other family members here but at the same time, seem to support politicians who are anti-immigrant and who are trying to make it more and more difficult for our loved ones to legally immigrate to be with us.

Do you guys not realize that those same politicians would like to prevent your loved ones from immigrating here or naturalizing as well? Of course, typical conservative response: I've got mine; so crew you and your family.

The government represents us and should work better for us. It's insane to have to wait years for fiance and then AOS applications to be processed. Some European countries are able to have it completed in about 3 months.

Again, tests or no tests, your grandma was let in without having to pay thousands of dollars & having to have work skills and an employer lined up. Today's economic migrants cannot do what your grandma was allowed to do.

Dont you love how those of us who believe immigrants should be treated humanely anf fairly are suddenly being branded "open border advocates" by this current administration?

But what does this mean when USCIS seemingly loses information and therefore issues an RFE?

For example, we heavily frontloaded our K1 with evidence of our relationship and still got an RFE asking us to prove that we have met in person and we are pretty sure USCIS lost part of our packet or something.... So now would this just be denied? Seems quite silly.

It's important to point out too that this simply gives reviewers discretion in denying, that doesn't necessarily mean that every application that is missing something is going to be denied.

First off, it's nonsense to think we don't have assets and resources in these countries. It's very hard to hide from US intelligence radar if you're truly part of a multinational terrorist organization.

Further, you have past data you can use as well. My wife for example had previously been in the US on both an A visa (her father worked as cultural attache in DC) and in a F1 student visa. No history of overstays. That doesn't fit the profile of someone coming to commit violent acts. Same with people with histories of coming to other countries and leaving without incident.

This ban was not about safety. The US government already has a wide latitude to deny visas.

Then again people come here all the time with zero rights. Maybe having been from country where I have always been treated as a human being has narrowed my perspective on why someone would choose that for themselves, including those who enter without inspection.   The unfortunate part is being compassionate can lead to others wanting to take advantage.  However I know I cannot control another, only myself.  Thankfully I do not have to make decisions for others like the government does. It's easy to sit back and get angry when you are on the otherside of the fence.
I will be interested to learn today if my husband is coming home tomorrow or not. Off to the gym, have fun with this thread.

I agree. It's insane that people only have to have met once. You can't figure out if you want to marry someone after only meeting once. And it's like the perfect way for human traffickers to bring people in.
