__immigrant__ got a reaction from Beast333 in US to require would-be immigrants to turn over social media handles
First of all, I think checking social media is for security and if people don't like it then they shouldn't come here. There have been a lot of terrorist attacks and mass shootings and the people who did it mentioned that in the social media before they did it.
Trump's immigration policy was really good, it was just like the Canadian immigration system and Australian immigration system which is based on points and I support that 100%.
And "his bill" wasn't to stop U.S citizens from filing for their family members. It was to control immigration. Like a U.S citizen or permanent resident could file for their unmarried children who are under 21 or their spouses. The bill says if you wanna immigrate to the U.S, you need to collect certain points before you may be eligible to immigrate.
    here's a link about the bill: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/president-donald-j-trump-backs-raise-act/

Immigration is NOT a right. It's a privilege.

This is not exactly new and it kind of should be expected in times like these. Some of us have to show CBP our social media so why not do it during visa interviews etc? You can get fired for something you posted on Facebook or Twitter so why not have your visa denied because of the same reason? Think before you post is always a good thing. It's not a big deal.

People think that because they're sitting behind a keyboard they're anonymous. They're not.

Again, main stream media (CNN, MSNBC, ect) live to strike "fear and terror" into people. Especially immigrants. Notice, ICE goes to arrest known illegal criminals and news networks only manage to complain that ICE is "terrorizing immigrant communities"... always stuff from them like that that drives the average American and LPR crazy to hear.

The fact it is from the news source you sites makes me think it's abit exaggerated; but never the less, national security trumps all things like 'inconveniences'.

As for the "gun control" matter... check some facts and statistics. Teens are killed more from texting and driving per year than any gun violence.

The most dangerous cities in the US for gun related violence/murders are "gun free" or cities have the strictest gun policies.

A criminal, no matter how many "magical" laws are in place, will break the law regardless to do what they intend to do.

By the way, here's something people didn't read much about because it got pretty much burried in the normal main stream news : http://www.scmp.com/news/world/united-states-canada/article/2139372/teenage-taiwanese-exchange-student-accused-threat

And trust me, I'm all for legal immigration; but these things happen and can't just be ignored.

There's no requirement by USCIS to keep a foreign passport updated when applying for the ROC or the N400----OP cannot be denied based solely on not having one.

Biographic information can be confirmed through birth certificate/other identification, and previous AOS with USCIS.
Travel history can be confirmed through USCIS databases and info sharing with border control.

False! You can use your birth certificate to prove your citizenship. My Jordanian birth certificate proves that I'm a Jordanian citizen.

__immigrant__ got a reaction from Kanwal Haqqi in Filed i-130. What is next?
Your case wasn't approved. It was accepted and sent to Nebraska Service Center to make a decision regarding your case whether to approve it or deny it. This might take up to a year depending on where you are from and how fast NSC is going.
When we filed I-130 it took us a year and 10 months to get approved. I'm not saying this will happen to you, but I'm telling you to expect everything

And what happens if the LPR loses GC? Obviously they have to fill out a Form for a new one but what do they have to carry to prove status until they get new one. I'm sure it takes uscis time to produce a replacement card.

__immigrant__ got a reaction from silviafini in K1 visa NOA2 long wait
We've been through this security checks thing. it took us a year and 10 months to get our NOA2. there are steps we did that made the USCIS approve us.
We contacted our congressman. We set an infopass and asked why our case was delayed for so long we were told because of the security checks. We hired a lawyer and he told us to gather more evidence. We weren't convinced of what the lawyer or the congressman told us BUT when we did all of this we got our NOA2 right away.

    Good Luck.

My wife is a U.S citizen. We had no problems or criminal records. We had no red flags. She applied I-130 for me in June, 2015 and got approved in April, 2017.
a year and 10 months. Almost 2 years.
Guess what? the NVC stage was so smooth, and the embassy stage was so easy and smooth as well. and I received my visa the next business day. and at the POE was so easy and it took me to finish the whole process 15 minutes.
but at the USCIS stage we had to go through long security checks. the uscis said FBI checks. I'm currently in the U.S and till now we have no idea what that was. we waited so long but it worth it to wait. because now we're together.
My point is immigration process is not easy at all and not short. expect always to wait so long.
I wish you the best of luck.

It means you used an old I-485 form. Get the latest from USCIS and send again: https://www.uscis.gov/i-485
The I-131 and I-765 were rejected because they are dependent on the I-485. Send them again with the updated I-485.
Edit: And be sure they are the latest forms from USCIS as well!

Unless your circumstances have changed before then, you'll most likely be facing a 3rd denial.   Other than your job what other strong ties do you have back in your home country to prove you will return to Saudi Arabia?

The different tourist visas all at once may be working against you, too, actually.

    you can't, two different countries

the petitioner can withdraw the petition, or cancel the interview if you don't want to immigrate to US

for Canada you would check their laws for immigrating to that country

I don't understand your question. Are you saying you want to apply Canada Visa instead of US visa?
If so, I think these are two different countries and processes, and fee submitted to the Government won't be refunded.

He's ending your relationship because he can't buy a plane ticket? I dint think he really wanted to marry you. If he did, he would sell his TV, borrow from a friend, deliver pizzas, drive for Uber, hold a yard sale to get the money to bring the person he supposedly loves more than life itself into the country. I think the plane ticket is just a cowardly excuse. You're better off without him.

Your visa will expire so you don't need to do anything with it.

Why are you already thinking about looking for another American to marry?

There is only one advice. You guys have to come up with the money and file for aos. Currently your wife is out of status and deportable. Not to mention she can't work, do anything. At least it's good you guys got married within 90 days.

If you were told you were approved than its most likely background checks or normal AP. Everyone goes through this.  It takes some time to prepare the visa and make sure things are in order.

You need to provide more information if you want help.  What country are you from and what kind of visa are you applying for? Did they ask for more papers at your interview?

Administrative processing just means they haven't decided yet. Either you need to submit more papers or maybe your background check hasn't been finished yet or they are still reviewing your case.  It can be days or weeks or months but you have to provide us with more info if you want the best response.
