Limey got a reaction from clintwestwood in K1 Visa COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements
A lot of people dying here. Our local hospital is overflowing, many operations cancelled so its impacting people with other sicknesses too. It's good that they are adding covid vaccine to the list.

Limey reacted to Crazy Cat in N-400 case denied -- can you help me?
You're right. I remember seeing the issue a few times. That is the reason I would always recommend filing a few days after the window opens.

Limey reacted to N400Me in Help!! I registered to vote by accident
Interview went well this morning, except that a decision cannot be made because my records show that I'm registered to vote, even though I have never registered or voted! Apparently, I was confused with another person in another county by the DMV. We share the same name! Just found this out by the elections office! This is so frustrating!

Why would voting void your ability to obtain another citizenship, if you're already a US citizen? Voting is just one aspect of citizenship.

Limey reacted to canadian_wife in K1 Visa COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements
Out of curiosity why is it frustrating?
-
Limey reacted to Lyndaa in K1 Visa COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements
Well, because some people do not want to take the vaccine for specific reasons and it is frustrating that it is now a requirement.

Limey got a reaction from Adventine in AOS on K1 visa
To fulfill the terms of the k1 visa you must get married within the 90 days. You can apply for AOS after the 90 days, but you'll be out of status until that is done so there is a risk of removal. If you leave it too long you might get other problems like the medical timing out (requiring a new medical exam). Is there a reason you can't file within the 90 days?

Limey reacted to nastra30 in Information to provide from previous marriage
Op, you still have to count your previous wife as part of I-864 household. Unless, she is no longer a LPR.

Limey reacted to powerpuff in Information to provide from previous marriage
You’re still on the hook for I-864, affidavit of support, that was filed alongside I-485. Divorce doesn’t absolve you of that responsibility.

Limey got a reaction from From_CAN_2_US in anyone willing to critique my letter of intent?
Ours were much simpler - we both did a letter stating that we're legally free to marry, and upon my entry into the country we intend to marry each other in line with the terms of the k1 visa. Was just a single sentence each.
Your letter seems fine. It's good that you have the important statement in the first paragraph, don't want to hide it away so USCIS officer gets annoyed having to find it.

Limey reacted to Allaboutwaiting in AOS on K1 visa
Once your I-94 expires, if you haven't filed for AOS, you'll be out of status, so the sooner, the better.

Limey reacted to chibichummy in k1 letter of intent question
We did 1 letter with both of our signatures, no RFEs. Either might be ok
-
Limey reacted to SalishSea in k1 letter of intent question
We did ours as a joint letter. No problems or RFEs.

Limey reacted to Unlockable in Not marrying on k1 visa
Absolutely not. The K1 is very very strict. Probably one of the most strict IV process in immigration. If they do not eventually marry their petitioning US citizen, then they must leave the US or be indefinitely deportable. They can not even adjust status of a different US citizen if they marry them instead.
Don't get me started with Facebook groups and their "theories".

Limey reacted to Adventine in Not marrying on k1 visa
Nope. K1 visa holders must marry the person who petitioned them. They cannot adjust status by marrying another US citizen. The petitioner's name is even printed on the K1 visa.

Limey reacted to JeanneAdil in proof of relationship photos?
follow USCIS site and make this easy for the
https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-guidance/form-filing-tips
in preparing your packet, remember:
Do not use binders or folders that we cannot easily disassemble. Use fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated. Sticky tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. For easy filing, place the tabs on the bottom of the page, not the side. Do not use heavy-duty staples; instead use fasteners or heavy clips. Do not submit originals unless specifically required. Do not submit oversized documentation unless it is necessary. Send single-sided copies of your supporting documentation -

Better evidence of meeting in person would be passport stamps, original boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc. I assume you are including those? Photos alone may not be enough as the dates and locations cannot be verified. Good luck with the I-129F!

Limey reacted to SalishSea in Is There any way that my fiancee and I could get religiously married while waiting on K1 visa to process?
I have no idea, but in the 5 years I've been reading Visa Journey, I've seen K-1 denials when the couple has had something that even appears to be a wedding: engagement ceremonies, religious ceremonies, traditional village weddings, parties etc.
Again, it's your call.
In general, if having an event like that in the beneficiary's country is important, a CR-1 is the better visa.
CR-1 would have been a much better choice than K-1.

You even call it "the Islamic WEDDING"........I would certainly cancel it. A party is a much better idea as long as it can't be seen as a wedding.

It's your call, but we have seen K-1 denials after people have done this.

You are this close to going to the US. Don't test your luck by having sent back from POE and being forced to wait another 1-2 years through spousal visa process.
