We have an answer. And the answer is: no, you cannot adopt them and bring them to the US when their parents are still alive. Doesn't matter if you like their environment or not.

You are way overthinking this process. I managed to get my husband over here on a K1 and successfully adjusted status by myself -- and I had just turned twenty at the time. Just take a deep breath and stop arguing with everything.

I didn't need one. I did my k1, AOS and ROC all by myself.

Also good luck with your case but no point helping someone who rejects every piece of advice people try to give him. You seem to be 100% sure you're right anyway.

I would never, ever lie to immigration. I would also never advise anyone else to do so. If you think a year ban is terrible, imagine a lifetime one.

I think the people that mostly say things like that are immigrants hoping America is different until they find it's actually not supposed to be.

I'm from a VWP country, all of my family live there, can't 'just visit' and aren't all old. Assuming that it's an 'us' and 'them' thing isn't fair. I also moved here to be with my husband, but as with everyone else who immigrates to the US via marriage it was my choice and it certainly wasn't a decision made with the idea I could bring every Tom, Richard and Harry that I'm related to over when I obtain citizenship in mind. Gosh, half (read most) of them I'm glad don't live on the same street. It'd drive me batty and I do love my family before you cry out about family values etc. We aren't, however, all fortunate enough to be Italian or Greek.
Those with children who are actually adult age need to learn to accept that grown ups lead their own lives without Mum and Dad joined at the hip. People can travel, take vacations to visit the family they left behind. You don't have to bring your whole extended family like they're luggage just so you can cope with the change of culture. . . or not have to change anything but location.
I don't feel bad, the OP's Son was an adult even when he was petitioned and needs to be treated as such for his own sake more than anything. Life genuinely does go on when parents aren't around. Hoping someone would put their adult life on hold for a decade or two just so they can join up here is honestly selfish.

By rights it should be the person petitioning for them, forever.  If someone is non-working and never will be, they should never qualify for any kind of state or federal government payments, benefits, packages, handouts or whatever you want to call it because they've never paid any kind of taxes or produced anything which would offset those costs.  That sort of thing is why immigration is such a hot-button topic in many Western countries (One of the key pain-points for many who voted for "Brexit" and the reason why Australia is undergoing our own immigration reforms right now and why the USA is having this argument).

As for me, as a potential immigrant - I'd support getting rid of chain migration (including parents), 18+ children AND the visa lottery. No other country in the world allows for petitioning of parents or siblings, nor of children who are legally adults - which, at least in the USA (and most other countries) someone 18+ is. I'm moving to the USA to start a new life. My family will always be my family, but if they are so important to me that I must live in the same country as them, then I would stay here and my partner would move here.

Sounds like Pedro and Ashley don't need to get married at this point in their relationship.  Pedro also needs to take marriage more seriously and ensure that before he steps into it, it's 100% what they both want.  Marriage isn't something to enter into in fear of losing someone.

Tell "Pedro" to keep visiting "Ashley", don't overstay, and make sure they are both mature enough for marriage before making that commitment.

    -        Do not plan a weeding or buy tickets until you have the visa in hand.
    -        I am going to plan a wedding.

    -        Do not have any kind of ceremony that may be mistaken for a wedding.
    -        I am going to have a ceremony.

    -        You do not need a lawyer; lawyers cannot make the case go faster.
    -        I am going to consult a lawyer.

If it doesn’t work out with the fiancé, you should marry someone else ASAP. That way if you don’t like them either you can try and divorce them and marry another one within the 90 days.

I’m not sure how many divorces it’s possible to have within 90 days so hopefully one of your first few marriages in the first 30 days will work out.
