I'm travelling home to the USA flying from London to Dublin then on to Chicago. Im a Lawful Permanent Resident of the US. Only two hours between flight 1 arrival at Dublin and flight 2 leaving Dublin. Will this be enough time to ho through US preclearance?

Also, with the current lockdown in both England and Ireland, does anyone know if I'll be asked at any point to provide proof my travel is "essential". I'm travelling home so I consider this essential travel.

You should be ok, the preclearance would be pretty quiet these days I'd assume. Hopefully your London to Dublin flight is on time, if you need to collect baggage and recheck in it might take a bit of time, but again, I'd say there won't be many people around..

*I'm a Dub and have travelled through there quite a bit, also a friend works in the airport and tells me it's like a ghost town a the moment.

Hahhaha out of those 3, I only know 2 and 3. Number 1 is completely new to me. Now I've got something new to tell my Irish friend. Seriously, I wouldn't have known what "taking the pee" meant.

At my former job, we used to have a war about "aluminum/ aluminium  and sulphur/sulfur." It was a job comprised of 25% British English speakers and the rest Americans/ Asians

Tell your Irish friend you are 'Extracting the Micheal",  "Taking the pee"  but use the 4 letter P word, or "having the Craic", Craic is pronounced Crack...(it means fun in Irish, nothing to do with drugs)  :)

If she doesn't have vaccine records she can do blood titers to show sufficient level of antibodies. Do it before the exam as it can be couple of days to get results back. Some vaccines are contraindicated in pregnancy so she won't have to take them (MMR). You're past the flu season so don't need that one either.

This, I was 42 at the time of the medical, I had no records as the health authority at home couldn't find records for me from the 70's. I had the titre test and just needed the Hep B shots, I'd already had chickenpox which showed up on the test too. It'll most likely be cheaper for her to get it done in her home country anyway.

  4. Children can adjust status and attend school. My son adjusted with me in Minnesota in 2016 and started middle school when we figured we were not going home, no issues. (My Father in law was dying and I didn't want to leave my husband after our vacation) My divorce document stated I had full custody of my son and could travel or move anywhere.

Only difference is I was already married to my spouse (2014 and already in the CR1 process) when we adjusted we already had an approved I-130, just waiting for the interview at the Embassy in Dublin. We adjusted from VWP. I have no problem with my son attending the local school as my husband paid local taxes.

(Our changing track added over a year till we had Green card in hand, but it was worth it to us as we were here for Dads final days and were together for support).

That bit was a joke, obviously (although I know it's widespread there in particular). But to the OP's point, you are actually allowed to get married and bring your wife or husband over without combining so much as a Costco card, if you so desire. They'd interview you, but you'd pass it it you had a legit relationship. The financial documents are them looking for a heuristic to approve people without the time and cost of doing interviews. They're not the actual legal criteria as to whether you can bring your foreign spouse. Chill balls.

This....When asked at our interview about combined finances, we told the officer we have seperate accounts and each pay half the bills. We were both married before and got stung by previous spouses so like to keep control of our own money. The officer was quite happy with this response, even smiled. We did have joint taxes and a lease on a house together, but that was it. Each of our insurance policies is for our children, we both have kids from previous relationships.

  6. I printed out 4 letter size pages with 4 colour photos on each sheet and wrote a note under each one describing dates/places/occasions, that included a few photos with other family members and our kids (2 his, 1 mine). I brought the originals with me to the interview, they didn't look at those, just our wedding album. The officer was intrigued as we 'eloped' and just had pictures of us, the officiant and 2 witnesses we'd never met until the ceremony :)

Thanks for the help. It's nice to see another Minnesotan on here! She called her nearest Garda station and was told she could just email the request and include the info from that form in the email. Do you know if this actually works? I'm worried about wasting our time waiting for this email to work in case we were misinformed.

I'd assume if the local station told you that then that will work. Make sure to address it to the Superintendent and ask them to let you know by return email if there is any issue, maybe if they can send you a copy via email too if possible, that way you have a copy. They really are helpful if you ask nicely :) Make sure to tell them the purpose of the police cert, that you need it for US immigration.

Omg I can’t believe I have to make another request 🤦🏾‍♀️. I told them it was for consular processing .. do I have to send proof? Anyways now it’s time to turn in my nvc documents and I have to send for a police certificate from the states

No you don't have to send proof, if you want to print the photo I posted that's OK, include it with your request as an example of what you need. If you don't mind me asking which Garda station did you send it to? Maybe they are not familiar with what you need from them.

I had gotten a letter from them saying that the letter was not a police certificate which was weird even though I asked for one..did your letter state that too on the Cover page?

Attached is the top of the certificate I got. It then lists my known names & addresses and the statement "was not convicted of any crime while residing in Ireland". It was signed and stamped by the local superintendent.
