So will the EPA and CARB be interested in the overall CO2 emissions of EVs? So far this has been ignored. Reminds me of one CEO's words (I seem to remember Tavares), 'just because a government says it is zero emissions, does not mean that it is'. New EPA Tailpipe Standards Call Electric Vehicle Promises Into Question The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ambitious tailpipe emissions standards may be partly canceled out by emissions earlier in the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain, said panelists at a RealClearEnergy webinar last Wednesday. On April 12, the EPA unveiled new vehicle emissions standards under the Clean Air Act which would mandate auto manufacturers to lower the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from their vehicles to a company wide average of 82 grams per mile by 2032. Currently, the average passenger vehicle emits about 400 grams of CO2 per mile. Only one automaker, Tesla, would meet the standard today. https://www.realclearenergy.org/articles/2023/08/07/new_epa_tailpipe_standards_call_electric_vehicle_promises_into_question_970708.html

No questions at K1 interview?
Dashinka replied to chrisaki's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
My now wife's visa consisted of 3 questions. If the DS160 and the I129F package was comprehensive and lacking any complications, maybe the CO felt no need to ask anything. -
So tips in getting married in Thailand. I agree with @Mike E, pursue the spousal visa (CR1/IR1), there is no speed benefit to the K1 anymore, get the marriage legal in Thailand while you are there for the next month, then file the I130 as soon as you can. Good Luck! https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/getting-married-in-thailand/

Nearly 100 arrested in child sex abuse case that claimed lives of 2 South Florida FBI agents The investigation into the alleged ring stretched all the way to Australia. “We see it as a significant outcome and it should serve as a warning to those who are preying on our most vulnerable,” Australian Federal Police Cmdr. Helen Schneider said. “We are looking for you, and we will find you and arrest you.” https://www.local10.com/news/local/2023/08/08/nearly-100-arrested-in-child-sex-abuse-case-that-claimed-lives-of-2-south-florida-fbi-agents/

Novel, and apparently effective. How long before the "progressives" deem it inappropriate, or racist, or whatever else they can think of to continue their regressive trend. WATCH: Los Angeles 7-11 Proprietor Uses Toto's 'Africa' to Keep Homeless Encampments Away From the Store And that’s just *inside* the store. Especially in places like Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Sacramento (not so much in the more sane areas of the state, which do exist, and I can’t list them because I’ve been sworn to secrecy), potential customers first have to navigate past the “unhoused” and even some unhoused communal living centers (a/k/a homeless encampments) to enter places like 7-11, AM/PM, or even CVS and Walgreens. Nobody wants to actually physically confront these people, because sadly many are mentally ill, and many are violent. And, while COVID didn’t kill them in big numbers, they’re not exactly living in hygienic circumstances. If the cops do come to clear them out, they’re usually back soon. So the best solution is for them to leave voluntarily, or to make your establishment an unattractive location. Promises of housing and services haven’t been very effective in enticing folks to leave their tents or shopping carts, and people who’ve erected barriers to prevent folks from sleeping on the sidewalk have had their hands slapped by code enforcement bureaucrats. As far as I know, though, nobody’s tried blasting one song on repeat, 24/7, from a store’s outdoor speakers, but that’s working for a 7-11 in West Los Angeles. Damon Packard, who lives near the store, wrote about it on his public Facebook page on Saturday, saying: https://redstate.com/jenvanlaar/2023/08/08/watch-los-angeles-7-11-proprietor-uses-totos-africa-to-keep-homeless-encampments-away-from-the-store-n789782 -
All joking aside, the Epstein client list needs to be made public.

Hmm, I suspect a new Trump indictment coming soon. Interesting how these were all distributed to various LLCs amongst the Family. Every family needs 20+ LLCs when they are involved in political corruption I guess. Bank records show millions in foreign payments to Hunter Biden, associates while father was VP House investigators have released bank records that document how the Biden family and their associates collected millions of dollars from Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine oligarchs while Joseph R. Biden was serving as vice president. The bank records, obtained by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee and provided to The Washington Times, confirm testimony from two IRS whistleblowers and Biden associate Devon Archer that millions of dollars flowed to Hunter Biden around the time his father met with the oligarchs as vice president. In total, the Oversight Committee has identified more than $20 million paid to Hunter Biden and his business associates that was distributed to 10 Biden family members, including President Biden‘s grandchildren. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2023/aug/9/bank-records-document-foreign-payments-hunter-bide/

Don't mess with Big Pharma particularly when it relates to the Covid ineffective jabs. University president steps down after stirring backlash for liking tweets from prominent conservatives These tweets included ones critical of Big Pharma, the COVID-19 vaccine and some transgender medical procedures. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, which reported on the school president’s "like" history shortly before the school reprimanded him for it, Tykocinski had "liked" over 30 posts from Berenson, a journalist who has been critical of COVID-19 safety protocols and the vaccines. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/university-president-steps-down-after-stirring-backlash-for-liking-tweets-from-prominent-conservatives/ar-AA1eYElY

You are right, if these incompetents resign, more than likely Old Corrupt Joe will just replace them with something worse (kind of like wishing for Old Corrupt Joe to resign, knowing full well his replacement will be Kackling Kamala). It is disheartening though to see that no one in the DC bureaucracy is ever held accountable.

Ahh, progress! Gavin Newsom wants to make America Oakland https://hotair.com/tree-hugging-sister/2023/08/08/gavin-newsom-wants-to-make-america-oakland-n569960 -
Might belong in the Biden Tanking America thread as well considering the close ties to Biden's corrupt Energy Secretary, Jenny from the Block. I also believe both Old Corrupt Joe, and Kackling Kamala have promoted this company. Biden-backed electric vehicle company files for bankruptcy At the time of the tour, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm held between $1 million and $5 million in stock of the electric vehicle company, The Washington Free Beacon reported, prompting ethics concerns and calls for her divestment. Granholm raked in $1.6 million in profit after selling hundreds of thousands of shares in May 2021, months after she had first pledged to do so. She served on Proterra’s board from February 2017 until just before her Senate confirmation hearing in January 2021. https://nypost.com/2023/08/08/biden-backed-electric-vehicle-company-files-for-bankruptcy/

Daily update on Biden tanking america
Dashinka replied to Nature Boy 2.0's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Joe’s Bidenomics victory tour is a bust on Day One But Biden’s slurring, disjointed speech might have reminded viewers of the “authentic frontier gibberish” accolade from the 1974 movie “Blazing Saddles.” Biden couldn’t decide whether the Grand Canyon was one of the nine wonders of the world or one of the seven wonders of the world. Bidenomics is a hard sell because consumer prices have increased almost 17% since the president took office, real wages have fallen 4%, and interest rates are at their highest level in 22 years. Team Biden has no alternative except to “lie louder” — the same tactic that’s insulated it with the media since 2021. https://nypost.com/2023/08/08/joes-bidenomics-victory-tour-is-a-bust-on-day-one/ -

Not really surprising. The first move the Corrupt Biden Administration did was end our energy independence, so why not force our dependence on states like Russia, or China for things like uranium. -
This is usually how it works, the Democrats make an accusation to cover something they themselves is doing. Many folks believe that Nancy Pelosi green lit the first impeachment due to Trump getting too close to the truth. Does Ukraine Have Kompromat on Joe Biden? It's a much more reasonable question about Joe Biden than it ever was when posed as a certainty about Trump. After all, Hunter Biden was paid many millions of dollars by the shady Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, despite having no qualifications for the job that anyone could point to beyond being the son of the Vice President at the time—which proved fortunate when his father fired the general prosecutor of Ukraine, Viktor Shokin, who had begun an investigation into the Burisma-Hunter gravy train. And yet, in obvious contrast with their obsession with Russia's kompromat on Trump, the mainstream media has lined up to dismiss the corruption allegations against Biden as a nothingburger. This has been no easy feat, and yet the media has valiantly obliged, arguing repeatedly that Hunter Biden was paid by Burisma for reasons that had nothing to do with the fact that his father was the Vice President at the time overseeing U.S. relations with Ukraine—and that Joe did not have any knowledge of his son's highly lucrative business dealings. And they would have you believe Vice President Biden fired Shokin because Shokin was corrupt. https://www.newsweek.com/does-ukraine-have-kompromat-joe-biden-opinion-1818052

Completely lost and stuck in Russia

I think your hypothetical is referencing requesting a consulate process the I130 with exceptional circumstances (commonly referred to as DCF). This is a non-exhaustive list of exceptional circumstances that a consulate may consider to accept a DCF case. Many people fall under a short-term job relocation. Good Luck! Exceptional Circumstances Examples of exceptional circumstances include: Military emergencies – A U.S. service member, who is abroad but who does not fall under the military blanket authorization for U.S. service members stationed abroad on military bases, becomes aware of a new deployment or transfer with little notice. This exception generally applies in cases where the U.S. service member is provided with exceptionally less notice than normally expected. Medical emergencies – A petitioner or beneficiary is facing an urgent medical emergency that requires immediate travel. Threats to personal safety – A petitioner or beneficiary is facing an imminent threat to personal safety. For example, a petitioner and beneficiary may have been forced to flee their country of residence due to civil strife or natural disaster and are in precarious circumstances in a different country outside of the United States. Close to aging out – A beneficiary is within a few months of aging out of eligibility. Petitioner has recently naturalized – A petitioner and family member(s) have traveled for the immigrant visa interview, but the petitioner has naturalized and the family member(s) requires a new petition based on the petitioner’s citizenship. Adoption of a child – A petitioner has adopted a child abroad and has an imminent need to depart the country. This type of case should only be considered if the petitioner has a full and final adoption decree on behalf of the child and the adoptive parent(s) has had legal custody of and jointly resided with the child for at least 2 years. Short notice of position relocation – A U.S. citizen petitioner, living and working abroad, has received a job offer in or reassignment to the United States with little notice for the required start date. https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-6-part-b-chapter-3 -
Democrats do in fact want complete power, a re-written constitution, and single Party rule. Hmm, that cannot go badly. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out, but maybe a peaceful break-up of the US is warranted. One side can take the Constitution and continue the plan of the Founding Fathers, and the other side can continue to follow their Marxist ideology.

I guess you get what you vote for, but who would have thought the voters in Chicago would vote for someone worse than Lightfoot.
