  1. I agree except for when it comes with significant strings attached. For instance would you accept that help if the person offering the help required you to do something against your morals? In a case like this, when humanitarian aid is needed and help is offered it should be condition free.
  2. If you look into the history of the aid China offered last time, it is not surprising it was rejected this time. As is with most things connected to the CCP, there are always strings attached.
  3. If CBP tries to fine you show them their own CBP Carrier Guide. The proof of LPR status is just that, and one valid type of proof does not supersede another.
  4. I agree, there is nothing magic about the physical 10yr GC. There could be a trip to secondary, but that should not take too long at a land crossing.
  5. Not really sure this would be my go to in order to promote climate alarmism, but apparently some think it is relevant. Climate Change Harming Indonesian Trans Sex Workers. Seriously. https://hotair.com/david-strom/2024/04/05/climate-change-harming-indonesian-trans-sex-workers-seriously-n3785932
  6. I tend to agree with them. Diversity doesn't always lead to better performance, rather performers tend to perform regardless of diversity. It is interesting that McKinsey would not provide any background of their conclusions for peer review. Do Diverse Companies Produce Better Earnings? These Academics Say No. Dame Vivian Hunt, McKinsey’s managing partner in the UK and Ireland at the time and a coauthor on all four of McKinsey’s studies, crystalizes McKinsey’s view that greater racial/ethnic diversity in a firm’s executive team drives better firm financial performance: “What our data shows is that companies that have more diverse leadership teams are more successful. And so the leading companies in our datasets are pursuing diversity because it’s a business imperative and driving real business results” ...the goal of our paper is to revisit McKinsey’s results by means of a quasi-replication. We do so by applying McKinsey’s empirical testing approach to those firms that were in the S&P 500® Index on 12/31/19. We choose 12/31/19 so as to keep our quasi replication within the same pre-covid time window as McKinsey’s 2015, 2018, and 2020 studies. We focus on the large public US companies in the S&P 500® for two reasons. First, McKinsey would not provide us with their detailed datasets, nor the names of the firms in their datasets, so we were unable to directly replicate or investigate their analyses... In contrast to McKinsey’s results, the key finding of our study is that we observe no statistically significant difference between the likelihood of financial outperformance as measured by the industry-adjusted EBIT margin of S&P 500® firms during the years 2015–2019 in the top vs. bottom quartiles of S&P 500® firms ranked on McKinsey’s executive racial/ethnic diversity metric measured in mid-2020.Instead, we find that 54.0 percent of S&P500® firms in the top executive race/ethnicity-ranked quartile have a positive industry-adjusted EBIT margin vs. 51.2 percent in the bottom quartile, with the z-statistic on the difference of 2.8 percent being a not statistically significant 0.5 (p-value = 0.65). In conclusion, our results indicate that despite the imprimatur often given to McKinsey’s 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2023 studies, McKinsey’s studies neither conceptually (in terms of the correct direction of causality) nor empirically (in terms of their set of large US public firms) support the argument that large US public firms can expect on average to deliver improved financial performance if they increase the racial/ethnic diversity of their executives. https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2024/04/04/do-diverse-companies-produce-better-earnings-these-academics-say-no-n3785938
  7. So you have already taken the naturalization oath?
  8. Yes, but you can create joint bank accounts, wills and living wills, I assume there will be visits, you can be added as a beneficiary to your spouse's benefits (insurance, 401k, etc.). Essentially what I am talking about is your marriage growth even though you will be mostly apart through the CR1/IR1 process. Good Luck!
  9. Laws for thee... Gavin Newsom's Restaurant Offers $16 Hourly Wage to Employee https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/gavin-newsoms-restaurant-offers-16-hourly-wage-to-employee/ar-BB1kZCsC
  10. Apparently it was offered and rejected. https://www.aa.com.tr/en/asia-pacific/taiwan-rejects-chinas-earthquake-aid-offer/3182878
  11. This should be sufficient to file the I130. You will have a year or more to further comingle your marriage which will lead to more proof at the NVC and consulate stage. Good Luck!
  12. This sounds like a very comprehensive list. I would not worry about text/chat history for the petition, but you may want to keep them handy for the eventual interview. Honestly I think the fact that you have been living together for the past 6-7 years since marriage will be the biggest proof of your wedded relationship. You will also need to put together the package to show your plans to repatriate back to the US, but you won't need that for the petition (I130), but rather at the consulate phase. Good Luck!
  13. This is why CBP lists many various means of LPRs to prove their LPR status. The card itself is merely proof of your status whether it be a 10yr, 2yr, expired with an extension letter, or ADIT stamp. If your extension letter is still valid, it is just as valid proof of your LPR status as a valid unexpired GC. Also, you are arriving at a land crossing, much less busy than an airport, and you don't have to deal with educating airline employees of what constitutes valid proof of LPR status. Good Luck!
  14. The expired GC and extension letter should be fine for traveling particularly at a land crossing (see page 14 of the CBP Carrier Guide). Good Luck and enjoy the eclipse. https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2023-Nov/Carrier Information Guide ENGLISH.pdf
  15. I am glad everything worked out! Congrats!
  16. Are you the USC or the foreign beneficiary? If the USC, your work/income information can be updated at the NVC stage when you upload the I864. Good Luck!
  17. It seems the illegal immigrants are finding ways to extort things from Woke governments. I highly doubt this will be a one off event. Seattle scrambles to raise $5,000 DAILY hotel cost for 240 'threatening' asylum seekers who overtook school play area, erecting Seattle is scrambling to raise the $5,000-a-day hotel costs for 240 asylum seekers who overtook a school play area with tents and foreign flags in a takeover locals called 'threatening.'. Seattle City Council members say they're working with Mayor Bruce Harrell's office to find an emergency solution to the cadre of migrants who camped at Garfield Tennis Courts, part of a community center used by local schools. ‘It appears today's action was a threat. Fund our hotel stay, or else,' Washington talk radio host Ari Hoffman posted on X/Twitter. 'The illegal immigrants previously demanded Seattle pay for the hotel stay. [The mayor and the city] gave in again and then finally said 'No.' Activists were arrested for protesting the decision.' https://www.msn.com/en-za/news/world/seattle-scrambles-to-raise-5-000-daily-hotel-cost-for-240-threatening-asylum-seekers-who-overtook-school-play-area-erecting-tents-and-flags-and-complaining-of-being-traumatized/ar-BB1l4WM9
  18. OMG, my parents wanted a break from the kids. During the school year it was school, in the Summer, it was get your behind outside. No phones, no nothing else except be back for dinner before the church bells ran (6p), and after dinner, get in when the street lights come one. I guess what we have now is "progress".
  19. Every time I see that idiot Larry O. I cannot resist.
  20. That is an interesting question, but why would you want to do that? Two I130's, two fees, and both would be classified as F2A so the wait would be the same. I wonder if USCIS will administratively close the child's petition.
  21. Actually, a marriage might have a better chance the second time around as it might be hard to get a waiver for a new K1. Utah Zoom weddings are easy, and all you need it a quick meeting after the ceremony to get the I130 moving. Also, a marriage might make the adjusting easier when you eventually immigrate considering you will not have to go through the AOS process. If you are completely decided to take the K1 route again all you can do is apply for the waiver and see what happens. I think you will also have to add a lot more relationship evidence to get past your first try at the K1. Good Luck!
  22. Seems most appropriate here. Yes, it does seem to have been a mistake for Clinton and others that followed to expand NATO. At 75, Has NATO Outlived Its Use? One group of objectors was led by the granddaughter of President Dwight Eisenhower. In 1997, the estimable Susan Eisenhower published an open letter in an effort to persuade Clinton to reconsider his chosen course. Calling NATO expansion a “policy error of historic proportions,” the letter’s 50 signatories, including longtime hawks Paul Nitze and Richard Pipes, the prominent Democratic Senators Bill Bradley and Sam Nunn, and intellectuals like David Calleo and Owen Harries, warned that, In Russia, NATO expansion, which continues to be opposed across the entire political spectrum, will strengthen the nondemocratic opposition, undercut those who favor reform and cooperation with the West, bring the Russians to question the entire post-Cold War settlement. Today, NATO’s defenders will no doubt ask: Surely after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, NATO is needed more than ever to keep Europe safe from the Russian bear? Not really. First, as the distinguished political scientist John Mearsheimer and others have tirelessly pointed out, there is scant evidence that Putin wants all of Ukraine, much less more real estate in Eastern Europe. Do we really suppose Russia wants to take on the burden of supporting three-quarters of a million Polish pensioners? Or waste more blood and treasure in what most certainly would be fierce guerrilla resistance in Galicia? The fact is that Russia lacks both the means and the will to establish political, economic, and territorial hegemony on the continent. Arguments to the contrary are, to be polite about it, based on a misunderstanding of Russian national security aims. The French political philosopher Emmanuel Todd (less polite) believes that the idea that Russia has Europe in its sights is the stuff of “fantasy and propaganda.” https://www.theamericanconservative.com/at-75-has-nato-outlived-its-use/
  23. I think free speech topics probably deserve their own thread. For those that are so afraid of Trump and the circus the Biden DoJ and their Democrat allies have created by prosecuting their political rival, I guess you are fine with this. Heck, even RFK Jr. sees the greater threat, but of course there are those that are so easily gaslighted by the MSM and the Democrats they cannot think for themselves. Why we must all stand with JK Rowling In Humza Yousaf’s Scotland, expressing the truth about biological sex can now constitute a criminal offence. The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 makes it illegal to ‘stir up hatred’ against certain protected groups, including transgender people. This is punishable by up to seven years in prison. Of course, to any sane observer, Rowling’s views are not hateful but factual – and she has expressed them in a reasonable manner, too. But in the upside-down world of trans activists, any suggestion that transwomen are not real women is considered an unutterable heresy. And it is clear that these activists have the ear of the Scottish authorities. Supporters of the law are currently mounting a desperate attempt to downplay its worst excesses. They say ‘misgendering’, for instance, isn’t explicitly criminalised by the Hate Crime Act and that gender-critical feminists need to calm down. But that term, ‘explicitly’, is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. It’s entirely conceivable that police, prosecutors and judges will go after those who refuse to toe the line on gender ideology. Not only have police and prosecutors in the UK already hauled people into court for ‘misgendering’, under existing laws, but Scottish police and politicians have gone out of their way to suggest things like ‘misgendering’ will be covered by the new law. Even if misgendering is not explicitly criminalised, this will not stop women from having their collars felt for doing little more than speaking the truth. Even if they are eventually spared a conviction, the process would be the punishment. https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/04/02/why-we-must-all-stand-with-jk-rowling/
  24. Not to worry, the NOW petulant elite are on top of everything with the Democrat Party's war on women. Opposing trans athletes in girls' sports is 'White supremacist patriarchy:' National Organization for Women The National Organization for Women (NOW) no longer supports women, several people declared after a controversial social media post. NOW responded to the news of former and current college athletes filing a lawsuit against the NCAA, accusing it of violating their Title IX rights by allowing transgender swimmer Lia Thomas to compete in the women’s championship back in 2022. According to the women’s rights group, actions like these were the work of "White supremacist patriarchy," rather than a concern for equality. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/opposing-trans-athletes-in-girls-sports-is-white-supremacist-patriarchy-national-organization-for-women/ar-BB1kWu5g
