    Duplicate member account has been subjected to draconian administrative action.

    Main member account has been subjected to similar draconian administrative action for these reasons:
     -- opening a duplicate account to avoid a suspension;
     -- reopening a closed topic in direct violation of Moderation instructions;
     -- insulting and antagonizing other members;
     -- restricting and inhibiting others' use of the forum;
     -- essentially spamming the forum with a purely legal issue.

    Many thanks to our good members here for having reported these transgressions.

    There is nothing to report, working without authorization was forgiven the moment they approved her green card.

    Get a friendly fast divorce and count your blessings she likes to work…cause if she finds her own attorney who is smart in the ways of I-864 you will be paying her $$.

    i know you are hurt , betrayed and wounds are fresh …but have a friend pack her things up and be done.

    We are in Dallas.  The estimated time after filing her N-400 (5 year rule) online was 9 months per the web site.  In actuality, it took 4 months from filing to interview completed.  Interview was done 3 days ago on 12/14/22.
    I am a solid proponent of filing the N-400 asap.

    Just go for the CR-1.   There really are no legit loopholes to immigrant visas.

    Filed online, quick easy, uploaded evidence with no issues, printed out receipt notice in minutes after filing, uploaded additional evidence shortly before interview, printed out appointment letter almost 2 weeks before arriving in the mail.

    I found the online system covenant and easy to navigate.

    Do not file online too soon, wait a few days after windows opens to file your n400 online.

    As far as evidence goes, you won't have any joint tax returns yet. You only got married this year & 2022 taxes aren't filed until Jan 2023 at the earliest.

    You do need to chase up your EAD with USCIS - per your timeline.

    SSA should have issued you a number/card - if you completed the part of the I-765 asking them to. It would arrive about the same time as your EAD card.

    Since you're eligible for a SSN you can't get an ITIN - HRBlock suggested otherwise when I was in your boat.

    You have done nothing wrong. Its a risk assessment by CBP.  Everyone entering on a visitor visa is presumed to have immigration intent .. and its up to the officer to assess it at that time. Refusal of entry or issuing a warning is based on the decision by the officer that the likelihood of overstay is greater than they want to allow.  Its not “innocent until proven guilty” unfortunately .. rather the other way round. You didn't do anything wrong .. its unfortunately up to each officer in the moment and the decision they make. You may have done nothing more than chosen a line at immigration staffed by a very pedantic/grumpy/not enough caffeine/too much caffeine/new and applying the guidelines overly keenly /tired /overworked/?????? agent.
     But yes it is very unsettling. 😢

    One way is no issue. My stepson just arrived November 9th on a one way ticket on a FX2 immigration visa with no issues. CBP just verified the address we want the green card sent to, and we were on the way. Another thing that was shocking was they took care of applying for a Social Security number for him. I went to the SS office a few days after arrival on the 11th of November, and they said a SS number has already been issued on the 10th, and sure enough his SS card arrived in the mail the following week. The SS office said they actually got the electronic SS card application working now when someone enters on a immigrant visa and they don't have a SS number already, so hopefully that saves you a trip to the SS office.

    I'm a mail filer. Sent via Fedex signed for. Received hardcopy NOA1 18 days later. Biometrics were reused. Interview scheduled 4 weeks after NOA1. I filed via mail due to income waiver, no other reason. Would have loved the convenience of filing online but it doesn't seem to make any further odds - as Dashinka stated, you have an online account, and you'll still need to print the entire file off for interview, regardless.

    Even filing by paper, the applicant still sets up an online account, so they can respond to RFEs, etc. using that account.  I would generally prefer online, but my wife chose to file by paper, and it was fine.  Btw, even if you upload all the interview evidence per the N400 instructions, you still need to take paper copies to the interview.

    She needs to get a job.  Hope she is not planning on staying home while collecting a "salary" from you.

    We went through a somewhat similar situation with my wife's daughter.  Came here and because she couldn't drive she really couldn't get a job.  I put her to work in my office but she was unhappy as she had a graduate degree in business analysis that wasn't doing her any good in our town.  With the help of one of our ex-friends she ran away, or relocated without telling us where.  She didn't want anything to do with us.  Didn't see her for several years.  My wife cried a lot over this.  While were out of her life she moved to Boston, got a great job, got married, and had a child.  While searching online I came across her Instagram account and found out about her child.

    Long story short, mother and daughter reconnected through a mutual friend.  Took some time for the two to reconcile.  Now the daughter and her family live not too far from us in Florida and they are quite close again.

    A happy ending.   I hope you can have the same one day.

    I think Boiler is stating that they need to join here and ask their own questions.  I know you're being a good friend and trying to help (and bless you for that), but they need to be advocates for their immigration journey and we can best help him directly.

    I’ve been lurking.

    1. It is troubling you’ve been entering as a tourist under your Canadian visa exemption instead of your green card.  That’s not legal but afaik there is no civil penalty for that.  Had you entered with your green card, your risks of getting an NTA (which are low as it is) would be even lower.

    2. On the plus side, what you didn’t do was enter on your tourist visa exemption and then resume life as an LPR. That’s a credit to your good  character

    3. Do not enter on anything but your green card again.   You are an LPR and you must conduct yourself as one. Someday CBP will get its feces together and start catching LPRs and citizens who do this and you don’t want to be among the first.

    4. I would enter on the current green card and take your chances with the NTA.  If you get the NTA, then lawyer up. I believe the lawyer will tell you that you can adjust status after your trial and I believe the lawyer will tell you that the charge can be dismissed if you you behave and if not you can file to adjust status.  Meanwhile you will remain LPR.  Which is why I think your chances of not getting an NTA are high because CBP knows you can do this.

    5. File your taxes with the IRS.

    If you have a valid green card, just try to enter the US with it. With intention of actually establishing your life in the states.
    There is a chance, you may be admitted without an issue.
