Yee-HAAAAA!

Perhaps you'll agree that a big part of the overall satisfaction is filling in that final box in your VJ timeline.  :)

I'm shifting your thread from the main US Citizenship forum to the Case Progress subforum.

Post your passport, etc. experiences in the Passports, Etc. subforum!  Those are satisfying to read.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Congrats! What a great feeling.

I agree, this forum is soooo incredibly valuable.
It has saved us thousands of dollars being able to do every little bit of the immigration journey ourselves without having to hire anybody.

I recommend updating SSA with your new status and getting a US passport (large book, because it's a free upgrade!)

I checked that box on the N400 application, do you think I should still call them? Probably to be sure?

Not sure if this is the right thread but I just want to thank the whole VJ community for all the help. We never had any lawyer from filing I130 to N400. All I relied on was the official websites, family and this community! ❤️

Here's my interview experience last October 17th at 10:50AM (approx 8 mins only):

Lane to the front of the FO (Sacramento FO) was closed due to Iron Man so I had to run (I was far from late but I wanted to be sure lol). I was called in by my officer, he let me set my stuff on the other chair, and he swore me in. Reminded me to turn off my phone (hence why I know it was only 8 minutes!)

He proceeded to ask if I was still married and why I waited for the 5 years. I answered truthfully saying that I knew my brother will be having his wedding and I didn't want the schedules to clash. He appreciated my answer and said it was a smart choice.

He asked for my greencard, driver's license and passport (yes, he asked for my passport, but gave it back). He then asked for the appointment letter.

We started with the Civics, reading then writing:

What territory did the US buy from France in 1803?
What is the supreme law of the land?
What is the highest court in the US?
Who is the Father of Our Country?
Name your US representative.
How many amendments does the constitution have?

Reading: Who is the Father of Our Country?
Writing: Washington is the Father of Our Country.

Officer was friendly, we talked about the US representative etc.

He proceeded with my name, address, birthday. He asked for my husband's full name. How many kids we have. Then if I was still working at my 2 jobs. And then proceeded to the yes/no questions, I even feel like he skipped some? I don't reme.ber him asking if I was novelty lol. That was it!

I asked if my picture looked okay and he asked if I'd like to have a new picture taken which I said yes to. Then he handed me the paper and led me to another officer who then took my picture. That's it.

I got the myuscis notification about the oath about 30 mins later.

I had my Oath Ceremony yesterday October 29th! One tip if I may give is to check your notices online. I had a hard time opening it on my phone and so I just told myself the oath is usually scheduled a month out. The actual physical mail came in on the 24th of October for an October 29 ceremony! Good thing my boss was understanding enough for the short notice.

Thank you again, everyone! Now onto my passport... 😅 smash karts

Congrats on the smooth interview and the quick oath ceremony!  I want to know, did the online case status show the oath ceremony notice right away, or did it just say "oath ceremony will be scheduled" for a while before the document actually appeared? I’ve heard mixed experiences, so I’m trying to understand what to expect.

Because of the new administration policy,It takes nowadays few days or couple of weeks for your case status to get updated from " oath ceremony will be scheduled" to actually being scheduled.

Mine took three weeks and it comes with the form N-445 being posted on your myUSCIS documents log and another hard copy mailed to you.

What new policy is that?  In 2022 under the last administration, it took 3 weeks from "oath will be scheduled" until we received the date for wife's oath  ceremony.  Then, the oath ceremony was about 2 weeks after we received the date.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
