Thank you! Yeah, they are moving really fast with a lot of cases.  So glad I didn't renew my green card and just did citizenship. My 10 year green card was due to expire at the end of October so I was cutting it close anyway.

Fingers crossed for the February filters too.

Fingers crossed my case goes fast as well. I'm terrible at waiting! I've been unable to stop myself from checking my case status online almost daily 😳

I haven't seen a lot of recent timelines for N-400 in San Francisco so we'll see.

CR1 Visa

USCIS STAGE: 16 days No expedite request but USC residing abroad
NVC STAGE: 19 days from case # to case complete
EMBASSY STAGE
03/27/12: interview - APPROVED
04/12/12: POE San Diego

ROC
12/19/14: received reminder letter from USCIS to file for ROC
01/15/14: sent I-751 application

05/14/14: received card production notification by e-mail, approval date 05/13

Naturalization

02/01/24: N-400 submitted online; Biometrics reuse notice received immediately online; "case being actively reviewed" after a couple hours

02/09/24: received NOA1 by mail

02/10/24: received biometrics reuse notice by mail

04/08/24: interview scheduled for 05/14. Received "We have taken an action in your case" email.

I keep checking my application to make sure I didn't make any mistakes haha. Oh and another thing, i've seen some stories where people unknowingly and accidentally were REGISTERED TO VOTE when obtaining a new license at the DMV (I saw a case in California). So check any public voter registration database to make sure your name is not on it as it causes a big issue for N400 applications.

  • Arrived to USA on F-1 Student Visa on 08/16/2016
  • Submitted I-485 & I-130 on 09/25/2017
  • Approved Green Card (IR7 category) on 05/17/2019
  • Electronically submitted N-400 on 02/19/2024
  • Biometrics Reuse received on 02/19/2024
  • Interview Notice received on 04/21/2024 (interview scheduled for 06/10/2024 at Chicago FO)

"I work for the Registrar of Voters in my county. We see a lot of people coming into the office to cancel their voting registration and to obtain proof that they never voted. We also process letters from USCIS requesting the same info.

Registration records are public record in my state. You can also simply search the county's website with house number, zip code, date of birth and it will show registration info and even when they registered.

NOTE: IN MY STATE THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED MOTOR VOTER; which is a program that makes registering to vote at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) more convenient. In this case, unfortunately sometimes people dont read carefully and accidentally register to vote. HOWEVER, THERE WAS A GLITCH A COUPLE OF YRS AT CERTAIN LOCATIONS AND IT CAUSED AUTOMATIC REGISTRATIONS. In this case, that's included in the letter. I am unsure if it makes a difference to USCIS, since we dont hear from those individuals after.

You dont lose anything by calling your county registrar of voters to see if such thing happened there.

Also, people called "circulators" get people to register to sign petitions and go as far as filling out the registration forms for them. Circulator's info is at the bottom of form. In this case, it could be argued that voter was misinformed etc..."

I don't think so because I'm not receiving any election pamphlets or ballot in the mail, unlike my husband. I also made sure NOT to check the box for voter registration last time I renewed my license.

But I'll check to be sure, thanks for the tip!

Don't forget about voter registration when filing taxes with Turbotax, submitting change of address with USPS and many other places. That's a good reason to always pause, and read carefully every word before signing anything. It got to the point I take screenshots / photos of my answer NO for vote registration whenever I see it. Just to make sure I'm not accused of anything 😃

Good to know, I'll be filing taxes soon and keeping an eye out.

Does USPS ask for voter registration when you change address with them? I just changed my address on USPS.com, did it quickly though they did not ask me for voter registration. I'll have to remember to be more diligent and not sign anything

Yes, I think I saw a prompt when doing change of address online with USPS.

Hello,

I filed online on Feb 22nd, 2024. I am in NYC, filing under 3 year eligibility but after approved vawa case.

Online form seemed very easy and they only asked to add my greencard and my marriage certificate (since I am still married to USC, in divorce process now). That was all they asked to submit. And it felt kind of not right or something, almost got me anxious. I added approved vawa petition just in case.

I did not get a notice about the Biometrics reuse, unfortunately. Is this a warning sign?
