N-400 based on 3 year rule

Hey, anyone here applying for naturalization based in 3 year rule? All I can find is based in 5 year rule. I’m interested to know how different the timelines are. Thank you!

Tons of people did the 3 year rule. Join the monthly threads for up to date info on timelines. My husband applied under 3 year rule and took the oath 3 1/2 months after applying.

 

Here's this month's thread but there's one for every month.

I joined my month thread, December 2023, but wanted to get idea of 3y rule gets done quicker 😊

Just from reading the threads it always felt like most of the people were doing 3 year. I just saw you asked on the December thread. As an FYI when we applied it initially it said 9 months but obviously didn't take that long.

The only difference is the evidence which is required.

Each office processes N400's roughly on a first come first served basis regardless of 3yr or 5yr filing (of course there are exceptions depending on the case complexities).  Some offices are fast, and some are slower.

Since the approvals tend to get done pretty quickly now, don't get caught off guard if you have international travel plans around the April-June time frame - the second you take the oath you hand in your green card and you then need a US passport to be able to leave and reenter the country. That can take months if you apply using the slowest route, but the good news is you can also get one the next day if you have urgent travel and live close to a passport agency.

Hello!!! I did apply on 01/12 under the 3-year rule. I applied 66 days before my 3rd year anniversary as a LPR. 

Received both Receipt Notice and Biometrics Reuse Notice the same day on my online account.

We are past three years, but we are still *STILL* waiting for her removal of conditions to be processed.  We are on the 2 year extension letter and it seems it will never happen.  😞

You do not have to wait for the ROC to be completed to file the N400 if you desire to naturalize.  Sometimes filing the N400 kick starts the ROC (YMMV), but in the end, if naturalization is the ultimate goal, there is no reason to wait to file.

yes that's what I did - i'm still on 2 years extension letter. and 3 years anniversary is coming mid Feb.

sam - got both same day online. Now it's a waiting game
