I have no desire to argue with you whatsoever. After all, I didn’t create these guidelines and norms, the US department of state did. They’re not some old laws, this is literally a current guideline. All I’m doing is informing you of facts and reality. You can do whatever you want and have your family provide whatever documentation you want, this has nothing to do with me.

 

Since you’re adamant about examples, I have personal experience. My parents applied for a US tourist visa some years ago to attend my graduation. I wrote NO letters and they brought NO letters of explanation or any other documents related to this. They simply filled out the DS-160, paid the fee and attended the interview. If the consul wishes, he can ask for a purpose of the trip. That’s all there is to it and that’s all that happened.
 

They were approved for a 10 year visitor visa and that’s because my parents have exceptionally strong ties which is mainly long term established professional careers in their home country as well as properties and they do not need any financial support to visit the US. This is in line with the quoted text I gave you regarding strong ties to the place of residence.

Nobody is arguing with you, not sure why you'd say that? Powerpuff just kindly explained that *you* don't invite them, you have nothing to do with their application, they need to qualify on their own merits. And she's given you a link confirming that from the official source.

 

Also worth noting that immigration laws are updated very regularly, not 'created decades ago'.

You can assume and think what you want about the process.  You're free to send whatever letters you want.

 

The kind people at VJ who are giving you free advice have YEARS of experience with US immigration.

 

One thing is absolutely true:  Lagos is in a class of its own in terms of fraud, which means it is not an "easy" consulate for visa applicants. 

 

Your family members need to complete the DS-160 and pay the fee if they want a visa.  The wait time for an interview is > one year at this time.

Of course not, I visited the US quite a few times, and knew nobody in the US, I did not need anyone to approve my visit.

It's funny how as soon as you found out it would be many years until your step brother can join you in the USA permanently, you suddenly decide to get them to apply for a tourist visa.

 

You should not expect anyone, especially the CO at the interview, to actually believe that are going to be genuine tourists and leave after just only one month, I certainly wouldn't.

B visa a huge umbrella category that covers any kind of temporary "visit" to the US. That includes tourism, seeing family and friends, medical treatment, business related trips, etc etc. It's all listed right there. in this case they would not be staying

trust me on that, if i wanted them here in the US i could have applied for them years back
it took this long because they had no interest

 

to add more my dad is not interested in living here so he wont even get citizenship 

because he will be here for short visits only

brother on the other hand needs this more and no urgency yet

 

so yeah not everyone is on life and death to move to the US like US is some eutopia

matter of fact, i see migration from US to many countries in the coming years as reality of things here get worse and worse. already happening but in very small numbers compared to what is to come

i can go on and on about how the west is not longer it anymore, and its not just about money/finance or opportunities anymore

 

so anyways that should help because someone like you will be rejecting ppl wrongly with your thinking if given the job at the consulate to interview ppl
