I see, i thought in some cases i needed to write a letter approving of their visit or something

that is not the case at all?

i know of examples where lets say am graduating from college and i needed them to attend my graduation, then i can write a letter to allow them to come to my graduation

so nothing like that exists?

Nothing like that exists.  Yes, we're sure.

like they say, there is no smoke without fire

so are you saying all visits are classified as exactly same? someone visiting for some random reason compared to dad visiting for son's graduation or family visiting for a child's marriage can not be the same else we should be run by robots already at that point

sure laws exists but you and I both know that does not mean nothing.   not sure you want to argue this.

only normies focus too much on written laws while others bypass and dont limit themselves based on some written laws created decades ago

again i am sure all visits are not created equal except you want to argue that with me and i will gladly and respectfully disagree

You can assume and think what you want about the process.  You're free to send whatever letters you want.

The kind people at VJ who are giving you free advice have YEARS of experience with US immigration.

One thing is absolutely true:  Lagos is in a class of its own in terms of fraud, which means it is not an "easy" consulate for visa applicants.

Your family members need to complete the DS-160 and pay the fee if they want a visa.  The wait time for an interview is > one year at this time.

Of course not, I visited the US quite a few times, and knew nobody in the US, I did not need anyone to approve my visit.

They do not need your permission

what makes the changes lower with me living in the US?

They are dealing with a High Fraud Consulate and have a close relative living in the US.

It's funny how as soon as you found out it would be many years until your step brother can join you in the USA permanently, you suddenly decide to get them to apply for a tourist visa.

You should not expect anyone, especially the CO at the interview, to actually believe that are going to be genuine tourists and leave after just only one month, I certainly wouldn't.

There's no reason to argue, the ustraveldocs website spells it out clear as day.

https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/en/business-visa

B visa a huge umbrella category that covers any kind of temporary "visit" to the US. That includes tourism, seeing family and friends, medical treatment, business related trips, etc etc. It's all listed right there. So you don't have to take our word for it, read the source directly for yourself and see.

And the difference is...

To be precise it was not a visa.

in this case they would not be staying

trust me on that, if i wanted them here in the US i could have applied for them years back
it took this long because they had no interest

to add more my dad is not interested in living here so he wont even get citizenship

because he will be here for short visits only

brother on the other hand needs this more and no urgency yet

so yeah not everyone is on life and death to move to the US like US is some eutopia

matter of fact, i see migration from US to many countries in the coming years as reality of things here get worse and worse. already happening but in very small numbers compared to what is to come

i can go on and on about how the west is not longer it anymore, and its not just about money/finance or opportunities anymore

so anyways that should help because someone like you will be rejecting ppl wrongly with your thinking if given the job at the consulate to interview ppl

It is not anyone on here that has to be persuaded it is the Consulate.

Noted your Father just wants to visit.

Your Brother is looking at say a 30 year wait so if he goes that route he would be close to retirement presumably.

Not interested in living there but you are planning to petition him for an immigrant visa which is for people wanting to make a permanent move to live in the US?

Does that make sense to you?

I think I'll pass on the 'trust me' line of yours.
