Why not divorce in the UK?

Does not matter that she is not in the UK, I assume you need an Egyptian Family Lawyer.

So why not divorce in Egypt? You already know it takes 3 months. So, what's your question again??

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I suggest you contact a lawyer over there, maybe your consulate can give you some names of attorneys there.

I'm not sure of how divorce works over there if man is Christian, and woman is Muslim, but I do know , make sure that divorce is on file  when done.

Hi Beth and Achraf

How can I check on file if it says divorced. I arrived in Cairo 3days ago. The lawyer looks dodgy. Shall I get him to do the work in the ministry of justice building in front of me and then pay once everything is completed ?

Honestly, I wouldn't pay him a dime until its complete , but that could go against you, I wouldn't pay him all at once,  and I would stay with him every moment if possible, and make sure you get the divorce registered.

Good Luck.   Make sure its a Irrevocable Divorce if your Muslim

and if worse comes to worse, take docs to British Embassy there in Cairo, I'm sure there is a Egyptian working there that can most likely confirm its a solid divorce and all is stamped and checked correctly.

Hi Beth hope you are well. I got my first revocable divorce. I'm wondering how do I get the irrevocable divorce . I know their is a irrevocable minor divorce and a irrevocable major divorce. I want to get the irrevocable major. Can I go to the Lazoughly Ministry of justice and ask them for the irrevocable major divorce instead of having to wait another 90 days. I did see another discussion on this but it's confusing me 😕

Thanks

Hi Long story is I am a non egyptian man.  I am divorcing my egyptian spouse

I went to the ministry of justice in March 2023 for a revocable divorce in absentia and got a revocable divorce also known as a Talaq (raji, ragee etc.. ),

I got the certificate from the civil sector office in Abbiseya and stamped from there and then got it stamped at the foreign affairs office in Masr gadida (heliopolis) and then translated by a certified translator as per the guidance here  Egypt (state.gov)

I returned to the uk and now I have come back after 110 days after the Iddah ( waiting period) had ended.

After 110 days I didnt take my egyptian wife back and i now went back to the ministry of justice ( also known as Lazghouly) to get the Talaq Bain (irrevocable divorce)

My ex partner is refusing to come to the Lazghouly ( ministry of justice ) to do signatures for the Talaq ( Divorce ) Bain ( irrevocable ) and now the Ministry of Justice is refusing to give me a Talaq bain ( irrevocable divorce).

Im wanting to get married to someone i met from the USA about almost a year ago but i cannot until i get the Irrevocable divorce . If the ministry is refusing my divorce how can i prove i tried to get the divorce if we ever decided we want to establish a life in the USA.

Can i get Any letters or documents such as an islamic fatwa from the state council court in Cairo or from the Grand Al azhar mosque to say i have an Irrevocable divorce and will not be taking her back. Would that suffice for the US immigration Authorities if we ever decided to settle and establish a life in the USA.

The State Council’s General Assembly of Legal Opinion and Legislation Departments-SIS

Please can someone help guide or give me any ideas me where i go from here. It would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Since you appear to be unable to get an Egyptian divorce, as a UK resident can you get a UK divorce?
