cannot attend interview due to injury. all is Lost?

Hello all, quick question. My fiancé and i have completed all steps including her health exam and she has appointment for the  K1 visa interview (thailand) at the end of this month. Unfortunately she had a serious accident and will most likely have to attend physical therapy for some months before she can travel. I assume that all our work and time is now for naught but thought i would ask here if anyone has had this type of complication or for any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. thanks all.

She can go to the interview and travel 6 months later. Or ask the consulate change her interview date.

first im sorry it happened to you. 

is she still in hospital now? or she's out of hospital? if she's out, is it possible for her to at least attend the interview?

if yes, just come to the interview first

Start the PT 

After several PT sessions ,  she would have an idea of what exercises are for her injury and ask the therapist to print them out

BTW Knowing her injuries ,  u can print the exercises out and help her do them at home in US (or get PT done here)

 

I am a PT and if i knew her injuries i could point several online sites for help with her therapy

Just for an example

i had shoulder injury  plus breaking both wrists after a terrible fall.   I had my son hang a pulley system in the garage so i could exercise 

i also bought a big exercise ball that can be used for balance and 100 other injuries

 

after a few months of PT in her home country ,  bring her here before the 6 month expiration date of the visa

 

the most important thing she needs from u is total support and love during this time

I recommend she attend the interview as scheduled, and let the consulate issue the visa.  If able, she can travel as late as 6 months after her medical was done.  Worst case scenario is that she asks the consulate to re-issue the visa if it expires prior to time when she can travel.

When you say unable to travel, do you mean unable to travel to the US, or unable to get to BKK?

Sorry about the accident. If she's out of the hospital, she should try an attend the interview. Maybe she can have someone accompany her?

She has a neck injury and they want her to be immobile and are unsure how long they will keep her in the hospital before they release her to physical therapy. I will try to contact the embassy to see if the interview can be postponed. This is quite a complication after a year and a half of work and waiting. Ughhh.

This strikes me as the best move.  When I-129F petitions are about to expire before an interview, consulates can extend validity in 4-month increments for up to one year.  Maybe this applies in your case.  Let us know what results.  Best thoughts for a speedy, full recovery.

If she is unable to travel to the interview location, you can try to reach out to them. We postponed our interview for reasons that were way less serious than the one you are describing just to delay travel and we had no issue.

I agree with postponing the interview if possible. The Thai embassy Visa Unit is very responsive to emails, and very easy to communicate with. I have had a bunch of times for different things  I had to contact them, and they have always come thru.
