Hi,

What the new trend for N 400?  I read that it takes about 6 months. Is this the norm ?

Thx!

Varies by field office. Los Angeles is 16.5 months

I see that VJ users report way less than that. At the most 6 months. I wanted to see if indeed this is the case.

So when you sort time lines by oath,

https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?op6=All&op7=All&op1=8&op2=&op4=1&op5=5%2C10%2C11&cfl=

you do see that the most recent  citizens were approved in on the order of 6 months. The engagement level of VJers tends to be  high when they  update their timeline with a new case.

Now sort by interview date, and just to the March 2022 filings:

https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?cfl=&op1=3&op2=&op3=&op4=31&op5=5,10,11&op6=All&op7=All

and you can  see that it is a mixed bag.

So, in general, if there are no complications, it takes about 6 to 10 months.

I have been stuck in Removing Conditions for so long with no end in sight, and I will be eligible to file N-400 soon, this is the only thing keeping me sane, that Citizenship applications are being turned around in a reasonable amount of time

Just like some mentioned it can be a mixed bag and truly the timeliness doesn't even do it much justice. Yes I have seen some pretty fast turnaround but it is just inconsistent. I qualified under 3 year I didn't file filed under 4 year back in June 2021 I interviewed back in January and am still pending decision was even told earliest I could start asking questions is December even though I have reached out. Said it is at my local office and give them 60 to 90 days we passed the 60 day mark next month makes 90 day mark still waiting.

Also know of someone who applied back in 2020 they have interviewed but still no decision so again it is kind of one of those things. I hear many people say if u have no issues but I bet to differ seems luck plays a role. Seen people with criminal record go thru process in under 6 months so once more the more u try to understand and predict USCIS the more likely you may get upset.

Some people get it in 3 months, i read a post here on VJ.

There are always outliers on both sides in just about every immigration process - there will be those that get approved much faster than the norm and those that get approved much slower. Case in point, @D-R-J mentioned it took them 2 years for N-400.

Another example from ROC/I-751 - we have seen 2 fast ROC approvals (one less than a month, and another less than 3 months) yet there are many here that have been waiting well over 2 years.

And as others have said, processing for the N-400 largely depends on the field office.

Just checked Vegas, and it says 18.5. What a bummer, and I will file next month. Oh well, If it is one thing immigration will teach you is patience.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!
