I have been on interview in N.Macedonia(Europe) embassy on 6th September, everything went well and at the end of the interview they have give me yellow 221g with checked additional processing time is needed, and the consul told me this is because in some states this kind of marriage is illegal, so they need to check that I guess, I know from this forum and other groups that a lot of people durning Covid have done this kind of marriages and it was accepted, they also kept my passport(I thing this is good sign). After that a couple of days in a row the case was updated on CEAC from Ready to Refused. What do you think guys how long this can take?

@powerpuffDid you consummate the marriage (be in each other’s physical presence) after you did the Utah zoom marriage?

Yes, we did consummate the marriage, she was in my country almost all time for the past year and even when we had the zoom wedding we were both at the same location

That doesn't make sense.  It is valid for immigration purposes if consummated.

just wonder why u didn't marry per your country laws if u were together

and all legal marriages (if legal in the state)  are legal for the whole country

And with the covid issues,  many did the Utah zoom and immigration has deemed it legal when consummated

even common law marriages

all 50 states must recognize common law marriage validly created in other states that allow them.

In my country they requested a lot more documents for doing a marriage (like birth certificate not older then 6 months for her, she is naturalized in US so they didn't count that, etc) which we would needed a lot time to get them and the whole process would take maybe months.

Understandable, I would do that as well since you have to jump through hoops to marry in some countries.

Just hang in there, I believe it will turn out fine. It is a legitimate and lawful marriage ceremony after all.

I think they are doing some administrative processing stuff. I have a strong feeling your visa will be issued because your Utah zoom marriage is legal. Hold on tight.

I got married through Utah zoom marriage and I already have my Immigrant Visa in hand. As long as you consummated, the marriage is legal for immigration purprses. You'll be fine

I'm in Nigeria btw

Hi guys, I finally I got the Issued status on CEAC, so I want to share my experience for anyone having the same issue, so 6 weeks ago embassy asked me for the marriage certificate from my country which lucky I had it and I had drop it the same day, 3 weeks after they emailed me to drop the passport off, but the passport was there all the time so they got confused somehow lol, and last thursday my status changed from refused to administrative processing, today after 3 work days changed to Issued. So whole processing took like 2.5 months.

Congratulations on the visa issuance!

Just to clarify -- Did the embassy ask for the marriage certificate from Utah county?  Or did you need to register your Utah zoom marriage to your country's government?
