Do you have the link to SSA to update this?  We need to ge it done.  We were going to go to the SSA office, but they don’t answer the phone, and we can’t take PTO to go to the office.  Trying to see if we can mail it in.

Better do it now, like tomorrow. Before he submits I-751. Do not wait for new green card. Extension letter may expire and he will be in a trouble.

No, as I said it’s better to do it now before he even sends the 751 package. Actually it Could have been done as soon as he got his initial green card. 
His new SS card will be one oF the documents listed on the I-9 to show should he need to change jobs.

Thank you, we didnt even know it had to be updated. We will call them tomorrow and confirm what we need to do.

Don't waste your time calling, he just needs to visit SSA office (walk in appointment) and ask to replace Social Security card. Phone representatives in both agencies (USCIS and SSA) are often not helpful or don't have answers to your questions. He needs to fill form SS-5 to replace the social security card.

You shouldn’t mail it because they will ask you to mail the original of the extension letter, which you don’t want to do.

to confirm, we should fill this in (can we type it or do we have to hand write it), and bring the gc/my husbands passport, go to office and just ask for a replacement one so they can remove DHS for work only? This shows he has a permanent resident card?

No, he doesn’t have a permanent resident card. He has a conditional one.

This shows he’s allowed to work as there are no restrictions in his SS card.

I would hand write it.

He should state that he’s a resident now, and so he needs an unrestricted SS card

In the meantime, go to the Immigration Guides here on VJ and look for the I-751.  Also, the USCIS website has instructions.  I don’t have the links right now because I am on my phone.

 

I will also be sharing mine as soon as I can.

No passport photos are required for I-751. If he gets biometric appointment, they'll take a photo there.
