IMO you are a little light, no mention of bank statements. Only one tax year, no medical coverage, utility bills, credit  card accounts,  car insurance to name a few. I'd  relook your package before sending.

I agree, I think 2 years of transcripts are important and especially a joint bank account to show shared finances, and utility bills that show both names living at the same address, credit cards are a plus imo

Agree with others that this is a bit light on evidence. I would suggest adding the following:

• ALL lease agreements since marriage
• At least two tax transcripts showing you filed as "married"
• Bank statements from date of marriage if you have a joint account (quarterly is fine)*
• Any bills or utilities in both names or separate names but same address**
• Copies of both driver's licenses showing the same address
• Health insurance covering both spouses, if applicable
• Car insurance covering both spouses/both vehicles, if applicable
• Evidence of trips/vacations taken together (Hotel receipts, documentation of flights, etc.) 

*If you don't have a joint bank account, USCIS is going to want to know how household bills are paid. Include an explanation + documentation to back it up. RFEs for lack of evidence of financial co-mingling are common

**If no bills/utilities show both names, you could send a bill that shows your name and another with your spouse's name as long as the address is the name. For example, if the power bill is in your name and the internet bill is in their name, send both.

"Submit copies of as many documents as you can to establish this fact, to demonstrate the circumstances of the relationship from the date of the marriage to the present date"

 

This is why submit everything you have, and not just for the last 2 years.

Thank you so much @Ranch!! Will definitely be adding joint bank account, utility bills, and credit cards.

Thank you @beloved_dingo! We have lived in 1 other place together so will add 1 more. I'll add more bank statements, bills, and evidence of trips/vacations.

• Tax transcript - we got married in Jan of 2020 so 2021 is the only year we've filed as "married". Do you think that's alright? Should I state that somehow?
• Driver's license -  my husband's driver's license is still his first one that he got when he was 18 so it is not under the same address. Do I still need to include?

Thanks @OldUser! We got married in January of 2020 so 2021 was our first full tax year we filed jointly actually. 

For additional context, I was on an H1-B visa prior to our marriage so I was already living in the US.

No need to include both driver's licenses if one address is not correct. We were actually in the same boat - my driver's license had my old apartment number so I didn't send it - just a copy of my husband's. 

 

As for taxes - did you not file jointly for 2020? If you are married on December 31st of any particular year, you are married that year as far as tax purposes. So you should have tax transcripts for 2020 and 2021 showing you filed as married. Send both.

 

I would make sure you double check your 2020 tax return to make sure it was filed correctly - the only options are to file Married filing Jointly or Married filing Separately.

Great point @beloved_dingo. 2020 was "Married filing separately" for us so I'll include 2020's tax transcript as well! And sounds good on the driver's license.

You need to include your marriage certificate.

Bank statements.

IRS tax returns for all the years you've been married

Health insurance

Joint utility bills

Copy of both DLs showing same address.

Etc etc
