I just received an update on this:

My N-400 interview has been scheduled on August 19th, 2022 for the end of September, 2022. I'm expecting a combo interview so I'm bringing my spouse with me. There has not been any movement on my I-751, other than being transferred to NBC on June 15th, 2022.

Does anyone in this same situation have any tips, specially if they are from NYC?

Thanks!!!

I had my interview last week. The interviewer was very tough, but I guess that's their job. I was terrified but I was able to answer all the questions asked and provide anything that was requested. My spouse was then called in. After that, they both came out, and I was handed the paper with the "decision cannot be made" marked.

I knew this was coming. It's the vibe that I got once I went in and how the environment felt. However, this didn't turn me down. I understood -- although didn't agree with, to be honest -- that it's their job to scrutinize the applications and the interview, but it was intimidating. That didn't stop me and I stayed calmed and all.

Five hours after the interview, I received the following notices: "Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling" and "We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review". Then, the very next day at around 10:00 AM, the following notice was added: "Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed".

After 10:00 AM, at around 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, I received the following notice for my I-751: "Case Was Approved".

To be honest, I was scared and intimidated; however, when I saw those updates, specially the very first one after 5 hours from the interview, I started to feel better and I felt the best when I received the oath ceremony notice and that my I-751 was approved. It was a combo interview.

Don't be discouraged if the person conducting the interview is a bit tough on you. It's their job to act this way and as long as everything you have is legitimate, there is nothing that will stop you from succeeding and ultimately, becoming a USC.

My oath ceremony is for next month.

Thanks, all.

It was a tough interview. The citizenship was the easy part, but she asked a lot of questions to me and my spouse. She did not approve us on the spot but I got the approval notification the next day.  Now waiting to my oath to be scheduled.

For a combo interview could you please share the questions they asked you and your spouse?

It went good!  She was asked 10 American history questions and got them all right. She obtained a study book from her friend to help with that. Everything else was general questions about the application she submitted and a week later we went to the ceremony!  Good luck to you.
