Re-establish domicile to U.S.

Hi all! I am a new member here. IR1
I have a few difficult situation. I haven't been to the US in over 10 years. And I can't prove my residence in the US at the embassy.

I am married since 3 years and we decided to move to US.  We have already passed USCIS and NVC and my husband had yesterday the interview.
He has been refused because, i hadn't concrete enough steps to establish my domicile. WE have a notarized letter from my uncle that we will live with him for first months.
And we transferred some money to the US. Also i I maintained SSN

But he was told it wasn't enough.
I don't have a bank account. I don't have a driver's license. We don't have children to take to school.
I'm a little frustrated because it's hard to do all this while living outside the United States.

I read on the forums and many were accepted showing only where they will live.

As far as I know ... we may go to the United States together if I decide to move back to the United States

If anyone has ever experienced this problem ... can you help us with some tips?

This is a very common issue in Montreal, which is why SteveInBostonI130 asked if it was Montreal. 

 

Although not idea, the best approach when dealing with Montreal is for the US citizen to move back to the United States.  Have you considered this?

Sadly, what consulates consider as enough proof of intent to establish domicile is completely at their discretion.  Tax records, property searches, bank accounts, job searches, etc. might also be helpful in showing your intent.

What the list of things the consulate wants you to do?

bank account ( after interview I spoke with representatives of Bank of America and Citi Bank and they told me that they do not allow the opening of bank accounts if you are not physically in the US...i printed our conversations and we will show them)

also they said if i have a job offer in the US. (which is hard to do outside the US, but  I'm applying to some jobs now ... to show them I'm trying)

 I'm also trying to transfer a larger amount to the US. Maybe it will work.

1.  If you have a SSN, you can get a credit score.  

2.  You might have to make a short trip to the US to open a bank account.

3.  Exactly where are transferring the large amount of money to ????

I don't see that as a benefit to show intent to re-locate.....unless you transfer to your own US-based bank account.

You can open accounts at State Dept. Federal Credit Union.  You might have to join one of their affiliates first.

Could you take a trip to the US to get those things situated? You could open a bank account and deposit your own money in there. You could get a driver's license or state ID from the DMV. You could apply for jobs and attend interviews during that time as well. Often, the USC needs to move back to the US ahead of their spouse too, so that may be a consideration.

You will have to visit the USA, establish residency at the home of your relative, and apply for a credit card.  Alternatively if you have an SSN ask your relative to add you as an authorized user on an existing credit card.  You don’t have to use the credit card and your relative can just keep the card or shred it.  Downside risk: if your relative has bad credit score, your score will be impacted.

and on the aforementioned visit you  will have to open a bank account.  Wells might be easier than BofA and Citi.

Do they want a job or a job that pays enough money. America is awash in minimum wage jobs.
 

 You might be able find a minimum wage hourly job that lets you work when you bid for hours on the schedule.  You just won’t be bidding after you return to your spouse to wait out the visa process.

Transfer a larger amount into what? I thought you don’t have a bank account?
