Hi! I had my n-400 interview this week. I passed my civics, written and oral test but IO checked option B " Decision cannot be made".  For those of you who have gone through the same how long did it take you to hear back from USCIS? I got an email this morning saying "We have taken action on your case"  but when I log in there's no update. The status is still interview was schedule.

Thank you in advance for your answers!

Best wishes! I’m sure you will get your oath schedule will be updated in 24-48hrs. When did you apply if you don’t mind me asking? Also, did you apply on 3 or 5 yr rules?

I applied  5 months ago. I applied under 3 year rule. It was my mistake not bringing enough proof that I'm still with my husband. I asked IO if I should update it on their systems he said just to wait to hear back form USCIS. But I'm not sure if I should do it anyways. I really thought I would be done with this process :( I hope you're right and I hear back from them very soon. Thank you

Your profile shows ROC pending.  Has the ROC been approved?  If not, they cannot approve the N400 until that is also finalized.

Good Luck!

That answer is not going to help you. It can range from hours to years and yours could be anywhere in that range. Mine took a month. You may have contributed to your situation by not having enough evidence of continuing marriage.

Its waiting time, nothing you can do aside from staying positive. It’s part of the process.

After a few months (4 months minimum I suggest) if you don’t hear back you can make enquiries or consider filing mandamus. Be warned though that we’re in extraordinary times.

Hi there,

That's pretty normal. I had the same situation (felts a bit distraught at first!) and ended getting confirmation of approval 19 days later. Sometimes the OP you talk to needs thumbs up from leadership. I wouldn't worry too much... once you're approved, things move fast, I had my certificate in hand 40 days after the ITW, voted the very next day and got my US passport two weeks later. I know how excruciating that can be towards the end, but hang in there, your immigration journey is almost over :-)

Sometimes when people get that email about "an action has been taken", they find a letter under the "documents" tab. Not always, but sometimes. I would check, just in case.

They can just approve both at once. Happened to my wife and it's pretty common.

They can, but that is not always the case.  The N400 IO may not have had the I751 package yet.  In my wife’s case, the IO did have the ROC package, but there are several stories where that has not been the case.

We got the "cannot make a decision" nonsense after our initial GC interview.   Rep forgot to ask us to sign the form in the meeting....which I should have known.   We lost two months waiting for them to set up a new appt and of course, wondering what in the world the issue could be.
