Got my interview!!!! Question: Im in the states about a 4 hour drive from Montreal. Can I drive across the border for my medical and back to the states? I’d rather not stay if I don’t have to.

If you're vaccinated, you do not have to quarantine and can leave whenever you'd like! Otherwise, you must stay for 14 days. I think that's the only thing you have to take into consideration, as the US has no laws in place that prohibit you from going back and forth.

I am vaccinated but I’m concerned with driving back through the border from Canada to the states.

Ah, are you in the US as a visitor? I didn't think about that. Unless you have a TN visa or something, I don't think you will be allowed to drive across the border as a Canadian just yet. I've also been waiting to see if Biden will reserve that order, but it seems like the least of their priorities. You can fly with no problems though.

Yeah, there is a risk.

You will need to produce a negative COVID test every time you enter, and on the off chance you test positive, you will be ordered to quarantine...

You can minimize this risk by self isolating for two weeks before arrival, and you should be good.

As a canadian you can drive back to Canada, but not drive into the states. It's one way only. Very strange.

I am also in the US. I am hoping to fly to Toronto for the medical and back in one day, but with the COVID-19 testing requirements on both sides, that may prove difficult to do.

Is it possible if you used your same COVID test for both days? The NAAT ID now one at Walgreens is accepted in both Canada/US, and as long as it's within three days of you travelling both ways, it shouldn't be a problem right? Unless there's some clause saying you need to get the COVID test in the same country you're departing from?
