k1 aos certified copy of marriage certificate or photocopy of it?

Getting ready to send in my aos package.Should I attach certified copies of my marriage certificate or simple photocopies of it? Or send the original marriage certificate? Help!!

A careful read of the instructions would indicate that all evidence submitted to the USCIS is a photocopy unless an original is SPECIFICALLY requested

I didn’t say it was the USCIS. It’s best according to VJ guides and I quote: “A copy of your marriage certificate. Note: While a regular copy is allowed, submitting a certified copy is preferred as some members have received an RFEasking for this (so if one is available use that instead).”

I’ve made two reports against the guides. One for the K-1 adjustment from status guide and one for I-130 adjustment from status guide (which has even worse advice).

Ah I see. Thanks for pointing this out. I’m about to go through this process in a month or so, so that’s good to know.

What's the consensus here? Photocopy or certified copy? I'm guessing to be safe submitting a certified copy is the way to go? Any reason they would reject a certified copy but accept a photocopy?

I submitted a photocopy, was approved in February 2022
